1 INTRODUCTION
If the transmission between a traffic board and the matrix fails, an Inside Failure alarm is
raised and the NGI diagnose GUI has to be used to determine the slot that raises the
alarm.
If these alarms are toggling it may be difficult to extract this information.
The 1660SM R4.4.B8 & R5.2B9 provides additional alarm information that allows to track
the info even after the alarm has cleared.
2 Conditions
The active software on the 1660SM must be:
1660SM R5 : R5.2B9
1660SM R4 : R4.2B8
More recent versions of these releases also are OK
Note:
3 Procedure
1. An alarm is raised by the 1660SM:
Alarm type
: Equipment
Probable cause
: Inside Failure
Severity (defaullt) : Warning
2. Open the Inside Failure alarm and select the tab Diagnosis
Read out the info displayed via Additional Info
3. Decode the info from the field Additional Text:
TM : Main matrix (slot 23) TX
= arrow from matrix slot 23 to traffic board
RM : Main matrix (slot 23) RX
= arrow to matrix slot 23 from traffic board
TS : Spare matrix (slot 40) TX
= arrow from matrix slot 40 to traffic board
RS : Spare matrix (slot 40) RX
= arrow to matrix slot 40 from traffic board
xxxxx : Slot or board position:
o Start counting from right hand side;
o Each character represents a hexadecimal character, decoding 4
bits or board positions;
o A bit that equals 0 means no NGI fault, a bit that equals 1
indicates a NGI fault.

6 Reference table
The included table allows an easy calculation of the traffic slot involved. It does not cover,
however, combinations such as slot 23 and slot 24 faulty. In these cases, addidional
calculation is needed.
