THE IMPORTANT OF SCIENCE

The present era is the era of science. Science has undoubtedly done a great service to mankind.
Man, a rational being, has been curious to explore mysteries of nature and this led to many
discoveries being made in various part of the world. But he is never satisfied with the acquired
knowledge and is always keen to unravelle mysteries of the universe. He has conquered the land
and air. His incredible lust for knowledge has revolutionised human life and raised the standard
of life. He was able to invent innumerable ways of making his life comfortable and happy. Every
sphere of life has been revolutionised by science.
There have been innumerable inventions. One of the greatest inventions is the invention of
medicines. There has been a series of tests carried out using animals as subjects and various
medicines have been tried out on these animals to check their efficacy. Many fatal diseases can
now be cured because we have the drug to fight those diseases. It has reduced the rate of infant
mortality and increased the life span. Before these inventions millions of people died for lack of
medical care.
Science has given us many machines that have made our lives very comfortable. Buses, cars,
sewing machines, mixes, grinders, etc. are all machines that are used every day by us and the
discovery of electricity has made it possible for us to change night into day and summer into a
comfortable cool season
It is now easy to cultivate fields as we have tractors. New forms of irrigation are now being
employed. It is easier to protect the crops because of the use of various chemicals and pesticides.
Even mosquitoes can be driven away because of the discoveries made in science.
It has enabled man to entertain himself in many ways. TV, radio, video and the cinema are all
popular means of entertainment. Besides entertainment they educate the masses. Today the
computer has made life even more easy for us. The press, the means of communication, etc. have
all improved because of science and its gifts to us.

Importance of Science
Science has played a vital role in the life of every human being. Science has existed in our lives from centuries
and the benefits which it has granted us have been enjoyed by everyone. There was a time where science was
only prevalent in the first world countries but all the countries are striving to acquire the knowledge of the subject
and
Science has played a vital role in the health sector. You would have heard that in the medieval times most people
used to die because of not getting the proper treatment but now people get the medicines and many lives have
been saved due to this fact. By the study of Biology we have been to study the human which would have been
almost impossible without science.
There are some people who discuss otherwise. They claim that science has facilitated men to produce
destructive weapons which have been a major cause of wars or battles in this world. I think that science gave
them the knowledge to b productive but these evil people misused science and made things which devastated
many lives.
Now I would like to see how Pakistan is using science. I think that Pakistan is far behind the world in the field of
science. We have not been able to make our children aware of the science field and thus remained left behind in
the field of science. There is one more thing I would like to suggest. It is that we should make science mandatory
for all the students irrespective of the fact that they are commerce or science students.

MY FAMILY
My lovely family consists of only three members: my mom, my sister and me. It was bigger when
my Dad was alive. He died from a heart attack when I was nearly five. Not realizing how tragic
and irrevocable the event of his death was for my Mom and my elder sister, I could not utter even
a tear. I was not being merciless or cruel toward my father, for I loved him very much and tried to
spend as much time with him as I could.
After his busy working day at a plant he arrived home tense, a little nervous and upset, kissing
my Mom on the cheek, hugging my sister and me. He rumpled my neatly combed, sparse hair
making me angry because I liked to be tidy, and then disappeared behind the door of his study
room, not saying a word. We all knew that we should not disturb or bother him at that moment
and returned to our school tedious homework giving our fierce-looking father some time to come
to his senses. My father was a leading engineer in one of the biggest airplane plants in Moscow.
It was an extremely responsible and important job of which he was proud.
After spending some time with his drawings, estimates and calculations and making some calls
to his colleagues, everything became quiet behind that giant oak door. Then, all of a sudden,

MY DREAM
Dream is something that all of us need to have. It is our vision. Dream is what you want to do for
your future. I believe that having a great dream, is a must to us. And I have a big dream. Next
year, I will confront a big examination, SPM. It is very necessary for us get a good result from this
exam. This is our future.
My dream is to be great neurosurgeons. I know it is not simple at all. But I know I can
achieve it. I feel like this is my destiny. This is why I came to this world. I do not know when or
how I am going to achieve this. But it will not be easy. I am constantly studying in school right
now. I cannot give up even if I fail. There is a saying that failure is the greatest teacher. I know in
order to pursue my dream, I will face failure. This cannot be stopped. Even Albert Einstein and Sir
Isaacs Newton faced failure when they are trying to create a great formula that is remained to be
used till today.
I got influence when I watched a drama titled Brain. It is a very great drama. To me,
brain is most powerful thing in this world. The human brain is the center of the human nervous
system. It has the same general structure as the brains of other mammals, but is larger than
expected on the basis of body size among other primates. It controls everything that we do.
Brain is a very interesting and unique thing to study about. I would like to perform a
surgery on brain. It will be hard, but I am ready because I always am. I will make a lot of money.
I will buy my parents a house and they can rest comfortably in the house without doing any
difficult works. They had gone through a lot in order to raise me and my sisters. I can always
make a research on how to make a good but affordable surgery. It is very crucial because
nowadays, the surgery especially on brain is costly. Not all people can afford this.
There is not much brain surgery in conducted in Malaysia because there are not many
specialists here. If someone need to undergone neurosurgery, they will fly overseas where the
facilities is said to be more perfect. In 10 years from now, Malaysia will change to well develop
country. So the facilities here will be more perfect. More brain surgery can be conducted here.
Like I said before, it is very important to have a big dream. It is not wrong. Even if you
cannot achieve if, just make it as your vision. Dream can help you to prepare to face this
challenging world. What am I going through now is just the start. I just find the keys. I am still
trying to open the door. When I finally did, I will not hesitate.

MY SELF
My name is Saffi Rashid. I was born on the 25th of July in 1993, which means I am 18 years old now.
I have got 4 siblings; en elder sister and 3 younger brothers. Then I have got my mom and dad too.
I'm mostly close with my sister, as she's the only sister I have. However, I do love my brothers too and
make the most of it whenever I am with them.
I have been living and studying in Denmark untill I was in 7th class (14 years old), then I moved to
England with my family. I finished off my highschool and took 1 years in college, then I moved back to
Denmark again. It just didn't work out with me and my family. So now we're back in Denmark and I
have started in 'Avedre Gymnasium' and hopefully I will be able to finish off with some great grades
and then I plan to study abroad in England. The field I am thinking to study in is; Medicine. England is
a great country with great opportunities, so I will have no doubt, when It'll come down to choose a
country.
I love going to school and I have always taken my studies very seriously. I have never said to anyone
in my life, that 'I hate studies'. Many people find me as a geek, but I only see that as a compliment
rather than an insult. I have got big dreams, when it comes to studies. Since I was 6 years old, I
decided to be a doctor. So that is my goal and I always try to aim to do my best at school, so hopefully
my hard work will pay off in the end. I don't really know why I decided to be a doctor. I just love
hospitals. Although I do feel very sorry whenever I see the poor patients in there, but just the fact that
we have got hospitals to cure people is a great thing. Caring for people has always been my desire.
Whenever I see someone, who I think need careness or help, I am always willing to help them.
Some interests I have got are; reading books, wacthing movies, cooking and praying. I love to read
books, because books can always be true friends. They never demand neither do they complain. This
is the way I look upon books. Mostly I read novels. Currently I am reading a novel called "The Blind
Assasin".
Moving on to favourite movies; Titanic, Romeo & Juliet, Crash, Twilight. Basically the list can go on
and on. I must be up to date with the latest movies.
Cooking has been a huge interest of mine. My mom's a great cook- especially in asian cooking. I think
I have got it from her. From my point of view, having learned how to cook, makes a persons life much
easier.
Then last but not least I love praying. I pray as much as I can. Being a muslim and not praying, just
doesn't go together, so that is why I pray. I also feel that whenever I pray, it helps me getting forward
and achieving more and more.

IMPORTANCE OF ENGLSH:
In todays global world, the importance of English can not be denied and ignored since English is
the most common language spoken everwhere. With the help of developing technology, English has
been playing a major role in many sectors including medicine, engineering, and education, which,
in my opinion, is the most important arena where English is needed. Particularly, as a developing
country, Turkey needs to make use of this world-wide spoken language in order to prove its
international power. This can merely be based on the efficiency of tertiary education.
Consequently, English should be the medium of instruction at universities in Turkey for the
following three reasons: finding a high-quality job, communicating with the international world,
and accessing scientific sources in the students major field.
The first reason for why English should be the medium of instruction at universities in Turkey is that
it helps students find a high quality jobs for students to find. In business life, the most important
common language is obviously English. In addition to this, especially, high-quality jobs need good
understanding ability and speaking in English. Therefore, companies can easily open out to other
countries, and these companies generally employ graduates whose English is fluent and orderly. For
example, the student who is graduated from a university which takes English as a major language
will find a better or high-quality job than other students who dont know English adequately. In
other words, the student who knows English is able to be more efficient in his job because he can
use the information from foreign sources and web sites. He can prepare his assigments and tasks
with the help of these information. Therefore, undoubtedly, his managers would like his effort or
prepared projects. In addition, many high-quality jobs are related with international
communication and world-wide data sharing. University graduates who are in a international
company and business are needed to communicate with foreign workers. For instance, if their
managers want them to share the companys data, they are expected to know English. Moreover,
they will even have to go business trip for their company. Absolutely, all of these depend on
speaking English;as a result, new graduates have to know English in order to get a high-quality job,
and the others, who dont know English, may have lack of communication and be paid less money.
The second and the most important reason, for English to be the medium of instruction in the
Turkish higher education system is that it enables students to communicate with the international
world. In these days, in my opinion, the most important thing for both university students and
graduates is to follow the development in tecnology. For this reason, they have to learn common
language. Certainly, they should not lose their interest on communicating with the world. However,
some of the university students cant obtain English education in their university. Unfortunately,
these people may lose their communication with worldwide subjects and topics. In short, they will
not communicate foreign people. To prevent these people from lacking of speaking English,
universities administration will provide English education to them. In addition, university students
can use some specific hardware and software of computers with their English to communicate
others. For example, the Internet, which, in my opinion, is the largest source in the world, based
on English knowledge and information. Also, most of the softwares such as Windows, Microsoft
Office, Internet Explorer are firstly written in English, and these programs are the basic vital
things for communication over computer. That is to say, even in a little resarch about something,
they need these programs and the Internet to find necessary sources and information.

The last reason for favouring English as the medium of instruction of Turkish universities is that it
faclitates accessing information. All of the students have to do some projects or homeworks which
are related with their field during the university education. In these projects or homeworks, they
have to find some information which is connected with their subject. They find sources from English
web sites and books, but they have to replace these data to their projects. During these process, if
they know English, they will not come across with any difficulty, but if they dont know, even they
may not use these data. As a result, the student who knows English will be more successful at
his/her project. For this reason, to obstruct possible inequity between students, management of
universities should accept English as a second language in order to provide accessing information to
the students. In short, university students need to know English to access information.

All in all, the education in universities should be done with English for three reasons. First, students
who know English are able to find their favourite job related with their field. Second, they can
communicate with others internationally. Third, as a major language in universities, English makes
accessing information easy for students. In my opinion, internationally, people need one common
language. For many years, English has been the common wold-wide language, and it will be in the
future. For this reason, if you want to follow trends, new gadgets and technology, modernization of
the developing world, you have to know English whatever age you are in.

My Ambition
As a normal person, i'm also have my own ambition. My ambition is to become an engineer. It
is not just an ambition but i want it to become a reality to my life. It is true that years of hard work
are required to become an engineer, but after of three years of college studying engineering, you
can make good money. In fact, engineering is one of the few fields that let you earn good pay
after only three years. Right now, three years might sound like a long time, but it's worth it.
Consider it one of the best investment you can make. Besides, it's not all about the money. It is
also an interesting work.
Engineering is a very broad field. There are so many types of engineering, that there is bound
to be one you find interest in. Since science and technology are constantly expanding, there will
always be new problems to solve-you'll rarely be bored. Unlike other jobs that require you to do
the same thing over and over, the work of engineers greatly varies.
In engineering, you will find yourself constantly finding new ways to solve problems. If you truly
want to be an engineer, the challenges you will face will just make things more interesting.
Overcoming obstacles will help sharpen your mind, helping you deal with problems not only in
engineering but in life as well.
In facing challenges, you will be encouraged to "think outside of the box" and explore new
possibilities. This need to creativity makes engineering even more exciting.
There's no better feeling than the feeling that you accomplished something great. In
engineering, you're doing just that. Imagine looking at a bridge that you helped design or picking
up a new invention that you created.
Engineering is all about making things people can use and making life better for everybody. As
an engineer, you will be able to see that you're actually making a difference in the world.
There is indeed great strength in diversity. Engineering requires many different perspectives to
find a single workable solution. You have the power to show the world what you can do. Don't
always follow the crowd-show people that you are unique but just as capable as anyone else.
