Rovers Rinse Ince

A poor run of results had seen Wigan Rovers exit 2 cups and start to slide towards the bottom of the division.
Albeit with a good few game in hands on the rest of the division due to an unfortunate injury and an even
more unfortunate wedding abroad (a good man lost).
The importance of the visit of Ince Central, currently occupying one of the 2 relegation spots, was not lost on
Manager Shaun Dainty who arrived on Saturday looking like he had not slept all since last Saturdays outing.
Connah Dainty was drafted in partly as cover at left back but mainly as support for his dad in one of his more
difficult spells as manager.
Rovers were without midfield engine Crofty and 1 half of the centre back partnership Dean Walton was
arriving late, Phil Holland was fit enough only for the bench. Jimmy Morgan earned a rare start for the first
team to solve some defensive frailties in rovers injury hit back 4.

The game got off to a slow start with rovers feeling their way in to the game searching for the confidence that
had given them a decent start to their first season in the prem since Bobby T had 2 yards on everyone. A Chris
Sykes free kick and Dean Berrys one on one effort that was hit straight at the goalkeeper were Rovers best
chances in what was a fairly even first half shaded by Rovers.
Ince Central finished the half strongly and could have found themselves in front at half time but for two heroic
blocks. The first the indomitable Dave Walker flung his armpit at the ball to bravely deny a long range effort.
On the stroke of half time the ball bundled around in the box to eventually fall at the feet of the Ince Central
centre forward, 5 yards out and with an open goal rovers looked certain to go in to the half a goal down, but
Lee Ogrady found himself in the unfamiliar role of tracking back to deny Ince the lead with a last ditch tackle.
That block and a stirring half time team talk was enough to see Rovers dominate the entire second half. Jimmy
Morgan having a great game at centre half ensured Alex had very little to do in the second half. Rovers pressed
and pressed as the Ince Central fight disappeared. It was a question of when and not if Rovers were going to
break the deadlock. Hero of the first half Lee OGrady was doing his best to turn villain as he spurned chance
after chance. Dainty called upon first team regulars Phil Holland and Dean Walton to break the deadlock. It
was the substitutions that paid dividends for Rovers as first half sub Richard Doran squared to Phil Holland
whos shot was fumbled by Ince Central goal keeper allowing Ogrady to tap home(doing his best to miss) to
cap a great performance. Rovers ended the half strong and saw the game out comfortably to give Rovers a
much deserved and much needed victory.

Rovers now find themselves 9 and with plenty of games in hand now will be looking to push up the league.
