Thirtieth Sunday in Ordinary Time

October 26, 2014

Dear friends,
Please look inside the bulletin this week for important information around the celebration of
All Saints and All Souls day, which fall on a Saturday and Sunday. Please note that since All
Saints day falls on a Saturday, it is not a Holy Day of Obligation; however, we will have a Mass
that Saturday morning at 8:00 am. There will be Novena of Masses as well offered with an opportunity to bring pictures of your beloved dead. Please check inside for the details.
Last week I was blessed to travel with my parents to Alabama for a taping on EWTN for a
show called Vocation Boom. The show will air in about 4-5 months and I will keep you posted once it does. My parents and I then traveled to New York to visit some friends of ours.
While in New York I visited the 9-11 memorial site. It was an intense experience as I walked along side both sites
praying for the individual names written in memoriam at the location. As I was praying, I noticed that 10 or more of
the names of women had written after it, and her unborn child. I was in awe that here on a public memorial site the
truth about life in the womb, which we all hold dear, was being proclaimed to thousands of people every day as they
remember the events of 9-11.
Of course I thought to myself about how in the public realm of things, which is so concerned with political correctness, such an acknowledgement could have be written. I began to reflect on it and I think that in the midst of tragedies like 9-11, we are more aware of the precious value of life in all its levels. It is such a tragedy to lose not only the
mother, but also the child in her womb in any circumstance. For that matter to lose one or the other as well. But
when faced with something of the magnitude of a terrorist attack, the politics of the matter (rightly so) are quickly
forgotten and we go to our most basic intuition that says what is inside the womb of a mother is a child, an unborn
child.
As you know life is an important political issue and there are
many other that the church is concerned with and that the
Gospel provides guidance on. I shared in my homily last week
how the Gospel content informs our political ideologies and
guides our pursuit of those political passions.
With this in mind, please use the inserted flier, from USCCB
to assist you in your prayerful preparation for the upcoming
election.
Of course if you ever have questions that you want to address
to me please know my door, or at least my e-mail inbox, is
open.
God bless,

Daily Prayer for Priests

THE SENIOR CORNER

O Jesus,
I pray for your faithful and; fervent priests;
For your unfaithful and tepid priests;
For your priests laboring at home or
Abroad in distant mission fields.
For your tempted priests;
For your lonely and desolate priests;
For your young priests;
For your dying priests;
For the souls of your priests in Purgatory.
But above all, I recommend to you
The priests dearest to me;
The priest who baptized me;
The priests who absolved me from my sins;
The priests at whose Masses
I assisted and who gave me
Your Body and Blood in Holy Communion;
The priests who taught and instructed me;
All the priests to whom I am indebted
in any other way
(especially...)
O Jesus, keep them all close to your heart,
And bless them abundantly
in time and in Eternity,

Church Sound System

irst, we would like to apologize for any inconvenience you may have encountered in the Childrens
Chapel and vestibule without the speakers connected. These have finally be reconnected.

After the fire, the sound system was in need of replacement, due to the damage the equipment sustained. In
order to be ready for Pentecost we moved quickly to install this new system. After weeks of listening, as
many of you noticed, the clarity and the quality of the sound was not optimal. Since September, we have
begun a series of stages to make important improvements. The most noticeable are the sound towers. The
towers were disassembled and the individual speakers placed throughout the church. This gives a more
equal sound within the church. Before the speakers were moved, some of the electronic equipment in the
sacristy had to be rewired and upgraded. Since the project began, there has been a noticeable improvement
in the clarity, volume, and also a reduction in the echo of the system.

The remaining work includes reusing the black speakers that were mounted in the center of the church, in
the choir loft, which will increase the clarity and quality of the members of the choir. Also, additional work
in the sanctuary will include monitor speakers for the priests, servers and lectors. This work should be
completed over the coming weeks.
Of course these improvements were outside the scope of the initial Fire Restoration Fund. We were blessed
to receive some large discounts on the improvements, including donated labor, however, the new electronics do come with a noticeable price tag. If you would like to help offset any of the costs please feel free to
make a donation to the office or by using the Fire Restoration Fund envelopes and mark them Sound System.

THE NEW CLOSING CEREMONIES FOR 40 DAYS FOR LIFE IN EL CAJON STARTS ON
MONDAY, OCTOBER 27TH THROUGH SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 2ND, FOR 7 DAYS!
This is very different from our usual one final day of prayer and song at the site. Our Volunteers came up
with a new idea. We call it "Jericho, the El Cajon Way".

It is very simple and powerful. We are going to ask EVERYONE who can possibly attend, to join us on the
sidewalk at 3:00pm everyday for 7 days to recite the Divine Mercy Chaplet while we walk the sidewalk in
front of the Planned Parenthood facility (located at1685 East Main Street El Cajon, California, near the in-

tersection of Greenfield Ave & East Main Street next to McDonalds) , 30 minutes max. Unfortunately we
don't have the ability to walk around the building as it is blocked off on all sides.

**On day 7, Sunday, November 2nd, the last day, after we finish
reciting the Divine Mercy Chaplet, we are going to blow horns and
yell very loud, like Jericho! We are hopeful we will have a Priest/
Pastor leading us everyday, especially on Sunday, November

2nd. Then hang on, because God is about to show us all His power!

See you there for the miracles!
