PRESIDENTS MESSAGE
=
It has been a truly remarkable 2014 season for Abbotsford Juniors Football Club (AJFC), both on and off the field. Our
reputation within the Canterbury District Soccer Football Association (CDFSA) and our local community as a club which
delivers first class service and a family atmosphere to our club members has certainly been enhanced.
There were plenty of highlights in 2014. We surpassed 700 registered players for the first time in the clubs history. We
welcomed our first under 15 girls and over 45 mens teams. A second over 30s womens team was also introduced,
increasing our Womens football footprint. Our commitment to junior football was translated into record
numbers in the under 6s and under 7s. The season was capped off beautifully with our under 17/1s and over 35/6Bs

Following the lead of our first O30W team who returned from last year, we welcomed our

second O30W team into the competition, which shows the increased interest of playing
soccer across all age groups.
Our O30W are also putting their stamp on soccer at CDSFA and are leading a push to make

changes to existing rules around player eligibility to come into line with rules that currently exist
in the mens competition.
Our U15 Girls formed a team virtually overnight and faced the challenge of balancing high
school commitments and training and coming up against experienced opposition. Many of
the girls had not played soccer before but did a wonderful job of developing their skills and
results throughout the season.
The U12 Girls had their first season on a full field and were committed to putting effort into
extending both their fitness and prior skill level to rise to the challenge that soccer presents
when entering a competitive age group.
Wowee!! Has the season finished already? It only seems like last week
when we were hosting our Registration & Family Day at Campbell Park
back in February.
And what a season it has been. Record registrations in our Small Sided
age groups (Under 6's through to Under 11s), a mild winter which
minimised the number of games called off due to closed pitches, the best World Cup ever
seen and a new batch of devotees of the greatest game on earth in our local
community. It doesn't get much better than this.

With the monkey finally off the teams

If I had to describe the 16/1 team this
year it would be courageous,
determined, never give up attitude,
eager to improve and full of character.
This year AJFC didn't have enough
payers to form either an under 14, 15
or 16 team this year. It was then
decided to form a team with the 3
age group and nominate for the 16/2
division (lowest division).
The Association in all its wisdom placed
them in division 1, even though 10 of
the 14 players in the team are 14 or 15
