an order under Section 16A Road Trafic Regulation Act 1984 as follows:WHEREAS during certain hours of the day and date speciied in column 1
of the schedule hereto the streets or part thereof listed in column 2 of the
said schedule will be used for the holding of a relevant event as described
in Section 16(A)(1) of the Road Trafic Regulation Act 1984, the Council,
pursuant to the powers conferred by Section 16A of the Road Trafic

the holding of the event, enable members of the public to watch the said
event and to reduce the disruption to trafic likely to be caused by the event

(PROPOSED PEDESTRIAN (PUFFIN) CROSSING)
1. The Vale of Glamorgan Council in exercise of
its powers under Section 23 of the Road Trafic
Regulation Act (1984) (as amended) and of
all other enabling powers intends to remove
the pedestrian (pelican) crossing and install
a pedestrian (pufin) crossing for the reasons
described in Schedule 1 and at the location
described in Schedule 2 below.
2. Full details of the proposal and a copy of the plan
(T/14/97A/MS) may be inspected at the address
shown below during normal ofice hours.
SCHEDULE 1
An assessment of trafic movements has identiied
the need to promote the following measures, to
reduce congestion and improve highway safety.
Removal of a pedestrian (pelican) crossing and
installation of a pedestrian (pufin) crossing,
with intelligent telemetry improving the safety of
pedestrians and reduced waiting times for motorists.
Localised carriageway widening to accommodate a
right turn lane from Windsor Road into Pill Street,
bilingual keep clear junction markings and the
formalisation of the bus lay-by.
SCHEDULE 2
The centre of the pedestrian (pufin) crossing will be
approximately 20 metres northwest of the centre of
its junction with Pill Street.
