PATROL/DETECTIVES:
On Friday, November 14, 2014, officers
responded to a report of a domestic disturbance
involving two persons in a truck traveling south
on I-35 near the city. The vehicle was
reportedly swerving all over the road and left the
freeway on the Highway 45 exit in Scanlon. A
Carlton County Deputy spotted the vehicle and
after observing unlawful driving conduct,
stopped the vehicle on Washington Avenue near
22nd street. The driver of the vehicle, a 34 year
old Cloquet man was found to be the victim of
an assault by his wife, a passenger in the vehicle.
During the investigation, officers learned that
the driving conduct was the result of the driver
being assaulted by the passenger of the vehicle.
The suspect, a 28 year old Cloquet woman was
arrested for domestic assault and lodged at the
Carlton County Jail.
On Monday, November 17, 2014, officers were
sent to a theft call at a Scanlon gas station. It
was reported that a suspect had pumped
approximately $150.00 worth of gasoline into a
truck and 7 gas cans and left the station heading
towards Duluth on I-35. The suspect had
removed the license plates from the vehicle
during the theft. Assisted by Esko Officer
Foldesi, the suspect vehicle was located on
Highway 61 near the Midway Road. Officers
stopped the vehicle and arrested the driver, a 49
year old Proctor man for theft and related
charges. The suspect was lodged at the Carlton
County Jail.

fight with the other party. After the Taser

was deployed, the second combatant
continued to strike and kick the party that
had been temporarily incapacitated. Both
suspects, a 30 year old Cloquet man and a
30 year old Cloquet woman were arrested
and lodged at the Carlton County Jail on
charges of domestic assault.
Over the past two weeks, four incidents
involving the theft of catalytic converters
from vehicles parked at the Scanlon Park
and Ride were reported. Suspects have
used what appears to be a cordless saw to
quickly cut the exhaust systems and take
the parts. The converters are sold for scrap
value at recycling centers. We have
shared information with neighboring
agencies and learned that Duluth and
Proctor are experiencing similar incidents.
This week, Detective Randall was
requested to assist in two out of area
investigations (Proctor and Duluth)
involving his specialty and expertise
related to internet/computer crimes.
This week we continued to receive
applications for our police officer
vacancy. We have scheduled the written
test for December 6th at the Fon Du Lac
Tribal and Community College.
Have a great weekend!

On Friday, November 21, 2014, officers

responded to the report of a domestic
disturbance in the 600 block of Maple Street.
Officers arrived and encountered a man and
woman engaged in a physical fight outside of a
residence. In the course of separating the
combatants, officers were forced to use the
Taser to gain control of one of the suspects who
refused to listen to the officers and continued to
