Sincere thanks the senior citizens who participated in this research for
their constant understanding, generosity, and kindness they have shared. Last

whose faith, patience and never-ending support had always inspired us to keep
moving forward.

ABSTRACT

This study attains to acquire the objectives to identify if the demographic


profile of an elderly affects their health seeking behavior. The purpose of this
study is to seek valuable information as to the health seeking behavior of the
elderly in barangay 185 as it might be helpful in developing recommendations for
them.
This study examined 83 senior citizens of barangay 185 that were
randomly selected for the research sample of respondents. The method that was
used by the researchers for this study was the descriptive method. The type of
data collection that researchers used was a surveyed questionnaire wherein they
were asked about their demographic profile and the health seeking behavior.
The most common demographic profile identified was the elderly were
aged 60-74 years, the gender was female and high school level was the
prominent education and as for the health seeking behavior the most common
was hospital consultation with the relative then as for the medication for the
herbal it was common that they use bawang, as for the OTC it is vitamins and
minerals and finally massage is the most common alternative medicine used.
This study used the Pearsons relation coefficient as the statistical formula
used to understand if there is a significant relationship between the demographic
profile and health seeking behavior of the elderly in barangay 185, as the result
of this study using the statistical formula, there was a significant relation between
the variables of demographic profile and health seeking behavior. The

researchers of this study recommend that more elderly seek treatment that can
lead them to a path that point to a healthier lifestyle with the aid of health care
professionals.
