Structural Rotation in all sections of Adult Cardiology Department as approved by
the Saudi Commission for Health Specialities as part of the postgraduate training in
cardiology fellowship from 31 December 2008 to 31 December 2011.
From 2005, I had sub-specialized training in nuclear cardiology procedures which
include myocardial viability and ischemia testing by thallium and technetium, under
the leadership of Dr Ghulam Mustafa Shah Syed, Consultant and Head of Nuclear
Medicine.
From 2011, my nuclear cardiology training continued and strengthened with
additional cardiac procedures - Cardiac PET/CT, under the supervision of Dr Mouaz
Al-Mallah, Consultant and Head of Advanced Cardiac Imaging. Procedures ( total =
592 from March 2011) such as myocardial viability and ischemia testing in a wide
range of patients including cardiac and non-cardiac cases and pre-transplant &preop clearance were performed in collaboration with the Cardiac Catheterization Lab.

Other duties include:The management and follow up of all cardiac patients in Medical Cardiac ICU, CCU,
ACHDU and Adult Cardiology Ward
Acting Consultant for the ER and Hospital Consult rounds on a rotational basis and
covering as Second on call in ER, MCICU and CCU.
Regularly and consistently coordinating and conducting the daily cardiology hand
over meetings and the combined catheterization-surgical meetings.
Performing and interpreting all types of exercise test
Dobutamine nuclear stress test
Persantine nuclear stress test
Treadmill exercise stress test
Interpretation of ECGs, Holter monitors and event monitors
Preliminary interpretation of transthoracic echocardiography
Performing diagnostic coronary angiograms and assisting in interventional
procedures under the supervision of Consultant Interventional Cardiologists.
Bedside teaching of residents from KSAU-HS, Internal Medicine, Emergency &
Anesthesia departments, and residents rotating from other medical institutions
outside NGHA.

o Insertion of all types of central lines catheters and temporary dialysis
catheters
o Assisting in the implantation of temporary pacing wires
o Performance and interpretation of transthoracic echocardiogram
o Preparing patients and assisting in all invasive cardiac cath lab
procedures and electrophysiology procedures.

Continuous Medical Education Activities:


o Conducting and coordinating the daily hand over meetings
o Conducting and coordinating twice weekly presentations and
discussion of cardiac patients going for cardiac surgery.
o Attending the twice weekly discussion of echocardiography interesting
cases done by consultants echo cardiologist under the care of Dr
Omran.
o Attending once weekly presentation of most recent studies and clinical
trials worldwide in all aspect of cardiology.
o Conducting and presenting twice monthly interesting cases for medical
residents.
