Instructions: It is time to start learning about what there is to do in your state. Since you are not doing
Academic Research, I am now giving you permission to use the website Wikitravel. That is the website
you should start on to fill out this worksheet,

Florida is known as the Sunshine State because has a warm climate and days of sun , that attract
tourists since the 1920 In 2011, Florida, with over 19 million people, exceeded New York, became
the third largest state in population.

The climate in Florida is a balmy weather. The rainy season in Florida is on June to September)

In Florida there are a lot of outlet (Shops selling brand-name products for discounted prices)

Florida cuisine has influences earlySpanish, African, and Southern cuisine and has influences of
Cuban and other Caribbean cultures. The southern food and some local specialties.

a. Extreme Temperatures:
Never leave children or pets in a parked car for any length of time! Due to high
temperature for most of the year, the interior of a parked car can easily heat to lethal
temperatures in a short amount of time. During the summer, the interior of a parked car
can reach 130-170F (55-75C) in just 15 minutes, regardless of the color of the exterior or
interior, nor whether the windows are open a small amount. You not only risk their lives,
but it is illegal and the consequences could be thousands in fines and even imprisonment.

The climate in Florida is an extreme climate in winter and summer, and autumn and spring are moderate.
The average of precipitations are 95.8 mm (March).

traditions of there. In addition, go to the beach sometimes.

The first thing to think about are the days and times you are willing to travel. Since most people leave for
vacations on Fridays and return on Sundays for work, that is when prices are the highest. If you are
willing to leave and return on other days and at off times, or red-eyes you will pay much less. Search for
a flight on both Travelocity and Sky scannerand compare flight prices. When you find the best travel
option on both sites, take a screen shot and paste it in this document. Then indicate which you have
decided to purchase.

I prefer Hotels than hostels but in the south of Florida there are lots of hostels and I will book a
hostel in this area and a I will stay in a Hotel en Orlando.

Mapping out the cities


Instructions: It is time to get a lay of the land! Go to google maps, click on my custom maps
and click on create new map. Entitle it with the name of ONE of the cities you are visiting.
Plot all the sites you plan to visit including hotels and restaurants on the map. Save one
separate one for each city and screenshot each one so you can paste it in this document and
print it later for your poster. For example:

Researching Restaurant Plans:

Orange Pie with Meringue Topping - Orange Pie Recipe

IMPORTANT: This orange pie recipe using Florida sour oranges or use a combination of lemons
and regular oranges.

Ingredients:
1 cup granulated sugar, divided
5 tablespoons cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup water
2 teaspoons grated sour orange peel, or 1 teaspoon each grated lemon and orange peel
1 1/2 cups fresh sour orange juice, strained, or 1 cup orange juice and 1/2 cup lemon juice
4 egg yolks, beaten
2 tablespoons butter
9-inch baked pastry shell, homemade or purchased.
Meringue: 4 egg whites , 1 teaspoon vanilla and 1/2 cup granulated sugar

Preparation:
In a saucepan combine 1/2 cup of the granulated sugar, the cornstarch and the salt. Add the water,
grated peel and juice, and whisk until smooth. Bring the mixture to the boil over medium-low
heat, stirring constantly until it begins to thicken. Remove from the heat.
With an electric mixer, beat together the remaining 1/2 cup of granulated sugar and the egg yolks
until thicken and light in color. Beat in 1/2 cup of the hot juice mixture, then add all of the yolk
mixture to the contents of the saucepan, stirring constantly. Stir over medium-low heat until
thickened, but do not let the mixture boil. Remove from heat, stir in butter, and pour the filling
into the pie shell. Let cool. Preheat the oven to 350.
Meanwhile, make the meringue topping. Beat the egg whites and vanilla to soft peaks. Gradually
beat in the sugar, beating until stiff peaks form and all the sugar has dissolved. Spread the
meringue over the filling, touching the edge of the pie shell.
Bake for 15 minutes, until the meringue is golden brown and thoroughly cooked. Cool thoroughly
before serving.
