I was sitting by the corner, tired of all these broken promises, of all the things that I thought

would stay. I was exhausted, it was an extra ordinary school day. My cheeks were flushed, my
lips were pale and there was a squeezing, pounding and compelling feeling on my chest. As my
sunken eyes were dropping to the floor, a sound of an uncertain bang awakens me.
A huge carrier truck hit a red car which was stopped under the lamp post. Driven by the impact,
the girl was moved forward with her eyes closed, clashing with the glass and allowing it to break
into pieces as she leans to the front of the car. The boy sitting on the drivers seat remained
unconscious.
Pushed by my ever-present curiosity, I followed the policemen. I find myself standing in a
hospital and see the two undergo an operation by nurses and doctors in the emergency room. I
slowly sit on the bed and a voice in my mind says: These moments of impact, these flashes of
high intensity that completely turn our lives upside down actually end up defining who we are.
What if the carrier truck was slowly moving and it did not exert too much effort to stop? What if
the couples car wasnt parked on the road and the impulse of the truck didnt hit them hard?
They should not have stopped under the lamp post knowing that many use that intersection. If
they didnt, Paige would have woken up remembering Leo. But the car was stopped and it
remained stopped.
Leo, astonished by the fact that his wife, though safe from the accident, could no longer
remember that she loved him. The accident placed them under a situation where there are
equal and opposite results. The car was hit by a moving truck which was acted upon by an
external force. It was nearly impossible to beat the gravity that built the attraction between the
two vehicles. There was a contact force present, changing the lives of Leo and Paige forever.
But at the end of their story, Paige learned to fall in love with Leo again, despite of her defected
memories. Because at the end of the day, love will remain as the strongest external force that
can collide different worlds. That no matter how far apart and distant the memories are, there
will always be that certain attraction between two bodies stepping on the surface of the earth.
This is what it feels like to watch my favourite movie, the story of Leo and Paige, The Vow. They
proved that love is still unbreakable, that it doesnt need a dozen of theories to be understood.
Love won and beat the concepts of physics as it made me realize that the only thing that we
have to do is exert more effort, to beat gravity in all its forms and control all the forces and
impulses that act upon our lives.
