1. Introduction
1.1 Cloud Reading Overview
Cloud Reading is a complete PDF cloud reading solution that connects Foxits Apps on
different client-sides altogether. It provides non-interruptive, cross-platform, continuous and
fast reading experience to end users.
While reading a PDF file on Foxit
Reader Client, select to upload
the reading file to the cloud
account, and then you can view
the last reading page on any
other
Foxit
client
when
reopening the file, seamlessly
continuing your PDF reading on
different devices.
Foxit Reader is the first Foxit
client to implement cloud
reading module.

2. Quick Installation Guide


2.1 Installation & Update
While installing Foxit Reader 6.1 or the later versions, Cloud Reading plugin will be installed
correspondingly.
When opening Foxit Reader (6.1 and later versions), Cloud Reading Plugin update prompt will
show up on the lower right corner if any update is available. Click Update, then restart Foxit
Reader one minute later, Foxit Cloud will be updated successfully.
Note: Foxit Cloud only works on Foxit Reader 6.1 and the later versions.

2.2 Uninstallation
While uninstalling Foxit Reader, the Cloud Reading plugin will be uninstalled correspondingly.
You can also uninstall Cloud Reading plugin separately from Control Panel.

3. Features
3.1 Sign in/up
After installing or updating Foxit Cloud to the latest version, you can sign in or sign up Foxit Cloud
by one of the following methods.
1. Click the FILE tab, select Foxit Cloud, click Sign up/Sign in (as shown in Fig. 1) ;
2. Click the FOXIT CLOUD tab, select Open, click Sign up/Sign in (as shown in Fig. 2);
3. Click the button beside the Foxit Cloud Account icon on the upper right corner of the
toolbar, then click Sign up/Sign in (as shown in Fig. 3).

3.2 Sign out


To sign out Foxit Cloud, click the
out.

button beside the Foxit Cloud Account icon and select Sign

3.3 File Upload /Download and Prompts


1. File upload and prompt
When you open a local PDF file with Foxit Cloud, the Upload button will be activated (meaning
that you can upload the file to Foxit Cloud Account). Select the FOXIT CLOUD tab and click
Upload

to upload the file. After the file is successfully uploaded, the Upload button will be

greyed out.

2. File download and prompts


When you open a cloud PDF file (does not have a local copy) with Foxit Cloud, the Download
button will be activated (meaning that you can download and save the file locally). Select the
FOXIT CLOUD tab and click Download button

to download the file. After the file is

successfully downloaded, the Download button will be greyed out.

3.4 File List


Click the FILE tab, select Foxit Cloud, the File List will be shown as in the figure below:

There are 3 function buttons above the file list:


: refresh the file list;
: download file (available when the file does not have a local copy)
: delete file from cloud account.
:share documents with others.

3.5 Reading (Offline reading/ Linear reading)


Double click a file in the file list, and the file will be opened.
Offline reading: Offline reading will be executed if the clicked file has a local copy. Offline reading
means to open the local copy of the file for reading.
Linear reading: Linear reading will be executed if the clicked file does not have a local copy.

Linear reading is a fast and secure way to view a file without downloading the whole file. The file
data stream will be downloaded page by page according to users request.
Seamless reading experience: the last reading coordinate will be saved to cloud when a cloud file
(opened from cloud file list) is closed. So reading from the last coordinate of a cloud file is
available even in a different device.
Note: Some functions (such as Annotation, Form, Find, etc.) will be invalid to cloud files.

3.6 Feedback
To feedback your needs or problems to Foxit Cloud Service Team, please select the FOXIT CLOUD
tab and then click Feedback button.

3.7 Cloud Recent Documents


There is a Cloud Recent Documents list coordinate to Local Recent Documents list in Foxit Reader.

3.8 Document Storage Path / Upload File


There are two settings for Cloud Reading plugin.
Document storage path: the folder which stores the downloaded cloud files.
Upload files automatically: If you check this option, all the local files you opened with Foxit
Reader will be uploaded to cloud automatically.
You can find these two settings by selecting File > Preferences > Foxit Cloud.

3.9 Account Setting


To set the Foxit Cloud Account, please sign in Foxit Cloud first and then click the Foxit Cloud
Account icon on the upper right corner of the toolbar. Account settings include: 1.My Profile;
2.Storage Space; 3. Change Password; 4.Account Association;

3.10 Convert to PDF


You can convert office, image file formats to PDF.

3.11 Share
1. Access to Share function
Please do one of the following:
(1) Choose FILE tab ->Foxit Cloud ->Share (as shown in Fig.1);
(2) Choose FOXIT CLOUD tab ->Share (as shown in Fig.2);
(3) Right click the document pane and choose Share (as shown in Fig.3);

2. Share & Unshare
With Foxit Cloud, all the documents, including documents in Cloud, documents being uploaded
and documents waiting to be uploaded, can be shared easily.
(1) Share document: select or open a document and click the Share button, then the File Sharing
dialog box will pop up (as shown below).

You can click the Copy Link button or copy the link manually and share it with others. You
can also share it with others through QR code.

(2) Cancel sharing


Select the document shared, and click the Share button. Then in the pop-up File Sharing dialog
box, select Cancel the share to cancel it (as shown below). You can find the Share button under
FILE tab, FOXIT CLOUD tab or the context menu of the document pane, please refer to
Access to Share function for details.

3.12 PDF Web Reader


Open the file shared URL, user will read PDF file in browser directly. It is an easy way for user to
read a file in any device without any installation.
