Assessor Guide
Dear Assessor
This Assessor Guide contains all necessary activities and instructions that will enable
the assessor and learner to gather evidence of the learners competence as required by
the unit standard. This guide was designed to be used by a trained and accredited
assessor whom is registered to assess this specific unit standard.
Prior to the delivery of the program the facilitator and assessor must familiarise
themselves with content of this guide, as well as the content of the relevant Learner
Workbook.
The assessor, facilitator and learner must plan the assessment process together, in
order to offer the learner the maximum support, and the opportunity to reflect
competence.
The company policies and procedures (QMS) that are required during the application of
this assessment are available and should be strictly adhered to. The assessor must
familiarise him/herself with this document before proceeding with the assessment. This
guide provides step-by-step instructions for the assessment process of the unit

UNIT STANDARD ACCREDITATION AND MODERATION OPTIONS
Anyone assessing a learner against this unit standard must be registered as an assessor with the
relevant ETQA or an ETQA that has a Memorandum of Understanding with the relevant ETQA.
Any institution offering learning that will enable achievement of this unit standard must be accredited
as a provider through the relevant ETQA or an ETQA that has a Memorandum of Understanding with the
relevant ETQA.
Moderation of assessment will be overseen by the relevant ETQA according to the moderation
guidelines and the agreed ETQA procedures.
UNIT STANDARD ESSENTIAL EMBEDDED KNOWLEDGE
Essential embedded knowledge will be assessed through assessment of the specific outcomes in terms of
the stipulated assessment criteria. Learners are unlikely to achieve all the specific outcomes, to the
standards described in the assessment criteria, without knowledge of the listed embedded knowledge.
This means that for the most part, the possession or lack of the knowledge can be directly inferred from
the quality of the learner's performance. Where direct assessment of knowledge is required, assessment
criteria have been included in the body of the unit standard.
