Staffing & Structure for 2015

The staffing structure is detailed below in regard to anticipated enrolments of 240 in 2015. Students are placed
in a Home Group. This change in 2012 has developed students engagement with multiple teachers within their
teaching area. The Home Group teacher has responsibility for the students in many administrative roles as well
as teaching. Parents may need to contact a variety of teachers regarding academic progress however the Home
Group Teacher is the first point of call for any school related issues.

Mr Shorthouse had previously been listed to the Physical Education Role. In the last week he has informed me that he will
be taking up a position at Mornington Secondary College. Mr Shorthouse enjoyed his time at Tootgarook and we wish him
all the best in his new role.
Mrs Bruin and Mrs Prossor are heading into semi-retirement. On behalf of the Tootgarook community we wish them all
the best in their new challenges and experiences. Over many years both have been highly valued members of the
Tootgarook team.
Mr Baker will finish the year at Tootgarook Primary School and develop his career at another educational setting in 2015.
Mr Baker has worked very hard towards extending the physical education skills of the students at TPS. We wish him well
in his future endeavours.

End of year reports will be distributed to all students on Wednesday 17th December.
If you have any questions about the report, or your childs progress in general, please contact
his/her teacher to arrange a meeting at a mutually convenient time.
Duplicate copies will be sent home or mailed for families with shared parenting arrangements. If
you require a duplicate copy please contact your childs teacher.
All children will receive details of their class placement for next year with their reports. Children
will meet for a short time with their new teacher on Friday 19th December at 10.30-11.00am.

Volunteer Morning Tea

Our thank you morning tea will be on Monday 15th December at 11:00am in the
Community Building. Invitations will be sent home tomorrow however if we
inadvertently leave you off our list and you have volunteered during the year,
please come along to the morning tea so that you can be thanked. Please RSVP
by Thursday 11th December for catering purposes.
DOGS IN THE SCHOOL GROUNDS
A reminder to all families that we request that dogs are not brought onto the school grounds. Many
students are anxious and scared of dogs and this can potentially be a very confronting situation for our
students. We also seek your support on this matter from a hygiene perspective to ensure our grounds
are both safe and clean for students. We appreciate your support on this sensitive matter.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING EDUCATION MAINTENANCE ALLOWANCE (EMA)

From the 1st January 2015 the Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA) will no longer exist.
However, the government will be giving some schools an allowance to be used towards school items for those
families who received EMA this year.
We believe Tootgarook Primary School will be a recipient of some funding but at this stage are not sure of a
definite amount. This being the case we are unable to let parents who hold a Health Care or Pension Card know
the exact figure allocated to help pay for the 2015 Booklists of $170:00 per child.
As soon as the school is officially notified regarding the above funding we will forward the information to our
school families.
Book selling day next year will be on Wednesday 28th January 2015 at the school office.
If you have any questions regarding the above please dont hesitate to speak to someone in the office.
Fran Parsons
School Finance Officer

Students will be presented with certificates at Monday morning assembly.

Students from Prep-2 had a special guest at school this

week. Kieran Brophy; author of Did Roy Royce Make a
Healthy Choice? came to speak to the children about
healthy eating as well as reading his new book to them.
The children answered lots of questions about healthy
eating and were able to show off how much they have
learned during the term while studying Health and
Safety. If you are interested in purchasing a copy of the
