Week One: Nov 30-Dec 6

Family Activities

I can be a leader!

I will lead with action and not just words!

Dont let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an
example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your
love, your faith, and your purity.
1 Timothy 4:12 (NLT )

Family Activity: Kid Led Night

Let each child in the family lead a family night by choosing what activities
and what order the family does together. Have three activities for the evening:
a meal, a game, and a special activity. Give options for each stage that cater to your
familys style and tastes. After each night thank the child who chose the activities
for leading your family in a fun night together.

Dear children, lets not merely say that we love each other; let us show
the truth by our actions. 1 John 3:18 (NLT)

Family Activity: Robot Sandwich

Have your family imagine that you are a robot that has never heard of a
peanut butter sandwich and you want them to give you verbal instructions
on how to make a peanut butter sandwich. As family members tell you what to
do, follow instructions exactly as they are described. This will cause them to have
to make increasingly detailed instructions. For example: Their Instruction: Put the
peanut butter on the bread. Your response: Pick up the jar of peanut butter and smash it
down on the loaf of bread. Once you are done, ask your children to SHOW you how to
make a peanut butter sandwich. Then talk about how much easier it as to lead you by
actions than by words.

!
Week Three: Dec 14-20
I will work with others!

Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed.
Ecclesiastes 4:9 (NLT )

Family Activity: Split It Up

Take a standard household chore that one person usually does and divide it up so that
everyone does a small part of it. For example: Sweeping or vacuuming the house - Have
each person vacuum one room or area of the house. Time how long it takes each person
to do his or her part and then add all the times up. Remind your family that when we all
work together, we share the load, the time, and the responsibility of bigger jobs and that
means that we dont have to work as hard as we would if we did it all ourselves.

!
Week Two: Dec 7-13

Week Four: Dec 21-27

I will work for peace!

Never pay back evil with more evil. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you
are honorable. Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone. Romans 12:17-18
(NLT)

Family Activity: Balance Of Peace

Get a plastic glass of water and a plastic plate. Have two family members hold opposite
sides of the plate, then balance the glass of water on it. Challenge the family members
to walk around the house for as long as they can without spilling any water or dropping
the glass. See which pair can work together the best and spill the least. Want an extra
challenge? Set up an obstacle course the pairs have to move through. Point out to your
family that it took a lot of attention and work to move without spilling. This is similar to
how we need to work at keeping the peace in our lives. Peace doesnt just happen. We
have to work at it.

Week Five: Dec 28-Jan 3
I will follow good leaders!

!
Week Six: Jan 4-10

Remember your leaders who taught you the word of God. Think of all the good that has
come from their lives, and follow the example of their faith. Hebrews 13:7 (NLT)

Family Activity: Secret Rules

Play a game of follow the leader with your family, but give each family member a secret
rules that they cant break, even if the leader does them. After the game remind your
family that part of following good leaders is not following leaders who lead us to do
things against what God says. We did not follow leaders in the game when they led us to
do things that were against our rules. In our lives, we need to remember to follow good
leaders!

Week Seven: Jan 11-17

I will honor God with my actions!

He will give eternal life to those who keep on doing good, seeking after the glory and
honor and immortality that God offers. Romans 2:7 (NLT)

Family Activity: Place Of Honor

Choose a place of honor somewhere in your house. It could be at the head of the dinner
table. It could be in the comfiest chair in the house. Choose a day and time to honor
each person in the family. Have the person who is being honored sit in the place of
honor and have each family member honor him or her with their actions. Afterwards
discuss that we use actions to honor people and we should also use our actions to honor
God. We honor God by doing things that He would want us to do.

I will choose good friends!

Walk with the wise and become wise; associate with fools and get in trouble.
Proverbs 13:20 (NLT )

Family Activity: Good Ingredients

Gather the ingredients for making your familys favorite cookies or other treat. Gather
some other gross ingredients. Talk about good ingredients being like good friend
qualities such as loving, loyal, honest, godly, generous, helpful. Talk about bad
ingredients being like bad friend qualities, such as mean, deceptive, dishonest, hateful,
selfish. Ask them if it would be good to eat cookies with some of the bad ingredients
instead of the good ones. Just like we would not choose to eat cookies with the bad
ingredients, we should not choose close friends who are full of bad qualities.

Week Eight: Jan 18-24

I will lead others to worship God!

Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the
commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end
of the age. Matthew 28:19-20 (NLT)

Family Activity: Invites

Have your family choose a 5-10 friends, neighbors, or co-workers to invite to church. As a
family, make a special church invitations for each person or family. Include homemade
cookies or other tasty treat with each invitation. Pray, as a family, for the people that you
will give an invite. Take them to the people you chose, and let them know that you would
love to have them join you at church.
