On Line Video Curriculum

At no time will the video class replace the actual experience of a live class. The videos will show what material we are
working on in that cycle. So if a person misses a class, or is of for a week then now they will be able to still learn the
material. Also if a student is un-sure of a certain move, or combination, as long as they have access to the Internet they
will be able to master the move. To have access to the online site there will be a charge of just 5 to members, but anyone that gets the Leadership Manual, will have a YEARS FREE ACCESS.

NEW! Black Belt Lesson on Tuesdays and Thursdays

Due to the rising amount of Black Belts we have in the school we are putting on a new class for you in the new year.
Starting in January you will see on the timetable that you have your own slot. Of course, you can still train in the other
lessons, but this is the lesson where advanced material will be taught. So really try and make that session!

Kids Christmas Party

This year Father Christmas is visiting our school! So we thought to have a
party for the kids at the same time. The date is Saturday 20th December.
Children 6yrs and under 5pm till 6pm 10 each.
These younger children will have games in the Dojo, and then just before
6pm see SANTA
Children 7 and older - 6pm till 10pm
20 each.
Santa will arrive at 6pm, youngest children will visit first. As we have more
time we will have Squash Pizza, Loads of games and a movie to finish.
We are also holding a raffle, so make sure to get your tickets at reception.
Prizes include new martial arts uniforms, T Shirt/ Sparring gear, kicking
shields, focus pads and other martial art prizes.

Adult Christmas Party

And for our parents and adult students come and join us on Friday 19th Dec for a bowling party. PLEASE BOOK
YOUR OWN LANES! They do have pool, arcade games, food, and. Drink! Come on down and have a laugh! Meeting at 7pm.

Xmas Shutdown
Last Lesson is Thursday 18th December, school re-opens on Monday 5th January 2015.

Christmas Sale
What is on sale? Everything. At Christmas it is a time when people buy gifts, and the kids wake up to presents that
you know will not see daylight for a couple of weeks, and then it finds a place in the toy cupboard, never to be seen
again. Worse still, the dreaded video game that ensures the child is spending hours upon hours sat on their bum in front
of the TV. Maybe this year I can give you some ideas that will last your child for a long long time, and will get used.
With the new age specific classes, the classes will be smaller which will allow me to teach the children how to use Nunchaku and Escrimma which the kids love. So if you have not got these two items, get these now! Maybe an upright bag
at home so your child can practice their techniques, so much more productive than sitting in front of that TV. Take a
look at the catalog on the front desk and get your ideas! If you want the bigger items, wave masters etc be quick, as the
cut of date is the 11th December. All items must be paid for when ordering. Fill out the order form on reception.

New Life Skills programme for Leadership Students

Over the years I have used lots of material to teach the personal development that is taught in our schools. Information
from Anthony Robins, Brian Tracy, Zig Ziglar and most recently Stephen Coveys books The 7 Habits of Highly Effective
People.
I was very happy with The 7 Habits, it is very structured and the childrens version of the book is great. I even went to
get qualified to teach the material and passed at a level of being able to teach other teachers. When we developed the
Little Pandas programme, it was built around the 7 Habits. A lot of time and money was spent to make sure it worked.
To cut a very long story short, the powers that are within the 7 Habits Company have made it very difficult to teach the
material. So much so that I can only legally teach the material to teenagers as that is the qualification that I have. So
if I am teaching a class of thirteen to nineteen year olds, perfect. Every other age is a NO NO!
If I have looked a little grey over the past 6 months, it is because I have
been putting together our own Personal Development and Instructors
Course for the school. This is a new beginning for Martial Arts as our Junior Leadership will be the ones that set the standard of instruction for the
21st century. To meet the needs of the future, they will be setting higher
standards of excellence through discipline, loyalty and leadership skills
they will learn through this programme.
To be on this course will cost an extra 10 a month, but to my current
members, there will be no charge. If you wish to have the manual that
goes with the course, (which I highly recommend) they will normally be
49, but if you order yours before the 19th December, you will only pay
21 which is trade price. (you will also have access to the online video library of moves, more on that later) Really try to get one, these are professionally printed A4 Folders that is full with all the material the kids will use
on the course. If you do not want to get one, please make sure they bring
a notebook to class. (The folders will make an Excellent Xmas Present).
The special price can only be held for Pre-orders, as I am passing the
savings on to you!
Your Junior Leadership Packet. will have everything you need to become a leader. I will be more than happy to answer any questions you
might have about this course, as it will be your responsibility to turn in all the material correctly and on time. On your
training nights you will spend the last 15 minutes of your class going through your manual in our Classroom upstairs at
Kingsholm. Over the coming years as you work to complete the training requirements, you will be an example of a Junior Leader to our other students. This 15 minutes will then free up the Dojo so we can put on more classes and start the
Age Specific Classes.

Brand new AGE specific classes FIRST IN THE UK!

We are rolling out a new age-appropriate class schedule. These classes will help us target each students stages of development even more than before! Through scientific research and psychological developments, our new age-specific
classes will provide MAXIMUM results in the classroom.

Age-specific classes can generate maximum results?

An international study was done to understand the growth and development stages of children between the ages of 3 to 14. Children were evaluated on the physical, intellectual, social, and emotional stages. From those
results, a comprehensive format for martial arts education was created for
3 & 4-year olds, 5 & 6-year olds, 7 to 9-year olds, and 10 to 14-year olds.

What does this mean for your child?

Our classes are going to target your childs skills and abilities even more
than before! This means that our classes will target the students stages of development to the point where each class
will not be too challenging or too easy - each class will be just right! Our goal is to have each student feeling stronger
and more confident in every class!

How are we going to make this innovative concept work?

We are going to divide our classes by age according to the groups mentioned above. This means that your child will
have a schedule and curriculum adjustment. I do not want to have children training late into the evening, so our
physical class times will be changing from 60 minutes to 45 minutes, with the last 15 minutes at the end of class to go
through the Life skills material, this way I can make this innovation work. An alternative would have been to only do
classes on certain days, making it restrictive to the students. I wanted to give people the maximum flexibility by being
able to still pick classes from Monday to Thursday. Your child will be part of the very first group of students to participate
in this highly innovative programme in the UK! Just think, your child is gaining an edge that no other school in our area
can reach. In January the innovation to the school will take place. Please pick up the new timetable, and take a look at
the information about your childs course, we have a parent hand out for every course. If you are unable to do a different
time slot, please speak to a member of staff and we will be able to help. Remember, these innovations are being introduced to enhance your childs growth and development. We are having a price increase in January, but for all our excising members, no change! So please have a look at the course brochure for your child, and get ready for the revolution!

There will be an extra investment for this course and the students will have the possibility of accelerated gradings. It
will be an elite group, and part of the course will be to help other students in the academy. In effect, students will be on

What is UK Black Belt Schools

UKBBS is the governing body for professional Martial arts academys that want to run the Life Skills Programme. Master Thompson, Master Smith and Master Codner (London School) collectively have been in the Martial Arts for over a
century. Travelled around the World teaching and competing. All of us are passionate about not just the Martial Arts,
but taking the sport to a whole new level. So forming this organisation will allow other schools to use the information and
run a UKBBS school. Also, it will give our instructors the opportunity to run their own schools with our help. Keep an
eye out for your official License books coming in 2015.

New School Uniforms

Here are the new uniforms for the school. Take a look below, and remember to get them for the new year while we
have our sale on! These suits are not compulsory to our existing students, but all new students joining in January 2014
will be in the new colors. I hope that you like them.
These uniforms (GI) are 49, completely printed. They are 8oz Poly Cotton, 65% polyester, 35% cotton. They fit great!.
Students have said that our old style Karate World suits were very heavy, so these are much lighter. They are excellent
quality with the trousers having an elasticated cord waist. Take advantage of our sale leading up to Christmas and get
you Brand New Uniform ready for the New Year.
White uniforms are for students that are on
the Basic Course at the academy. These are
trial students, or students that are on a month
to month agreement. No goal to achieve
Black Belt has been set. These have not got
any printing on them.

Second Studio opening in Churchdown

This Personal Development centre has been a dream of mine for many years. To have a centre where the most dedicated students are able to train and become leaders in our school. The centre is not just there for the Elite; it will also be
a centre to help children that are struggling at school. It is set in 3 acres of land and will include inside and outside training. The training studio is fully matted and has all the equipment to teach not just martial arts, but Personal Development on a whole new level. Teaching Personal Development through the martial arts has always been a passion of
mine, now I have got the facility to train children in the day. As you are reading this it is being finished and will be up
and running in the New Year. Friday evenings and Saturdays will be known as the Instructors day in the Studio. The
most focused kids, the ones that show the most potential, the ones that want to one day become instructors, will get to

LEADERSHIP

I had three goals... to earn a Black Belt, to become a World Champion, and to
become an instructor. I passed my first Black Belt when I was eight years old.
Currently I am a 3rd Dan Black Belt in Maarlisk and Wado Ryu, which I passed
back in 2010. Over the course of my training I had fell in love with the competition side of martial arts, especially the fighting. I have competed in the European
Championships in Paris and got a double Gold medal. I was scouted and was
selected to be in the England team, where I was for 3 years. I went to Rome in
2009 for the European Championships and got another Gold. Next I went to
Spain for the World Championships in 2010 and got Gold. In 2012 I competed in
Holland for the World Championships again where I got a bronze medal. I have
also trained in Boxing, Lau Gar Kung Fu, and Jiu Jitsu. I am looking forward to
being part of the team and working in the first martial arts school in the UK that is
offering age specific classes and a full Life Skills Curriculum. See you in class!

The Black LEADERSHIP suit is for students that have decided to become Black
Belts in the Martial Arts, and are taking the
Full Life Skills Course. Any child, at any age
can be on this course. So even if a student is
on our very first course, (Little Ninjas) the
parents can decide that they want their child
to become a Black Belt, and learn Leadership
skills, and be in the Leadership Black Suit.

A Red uniform is for students that get selected to train in the Champions Course.
These students will be training with Master
Thompson on special sessions throughout
the year. This course is invitation only. Students that have the best attitude in class, that
Master Thompson feels trains above and beyond, will be selected for this course. Your
photo will be on the Champions Course
Board in reception so the other students can see who is on the course. The only extra charge for this course is the
once a month seminar held at the Churchdown studio
A Blue Instructors suit is for students on the Instructors Course. These students not only train at our Kingsholm
location, but also at our Churchdown Studio. They are on a mission to have coaching skills and possibly become an
instructor. Maybe they wish to help out in the school, or work part time in the school, even run their own school one day.
This course is not just physical teaching; it is also understand the business systems of the Martial Arts School. If you or
your child would like to be on the top programme in the school. See Master Thompson for details. All of the Instructors
in the school will be in this color suit.
