INTRODUCTION

A prayer implies peace, purposeful controlled motion

in body-cells. In our daily routines, we spend a lot of our intrinsic
energy. Due to emotions and ambitions, excessive energy is
spent without our knowledge. A prayer helps check this extra
expenditure. Saving this energy is equivalent to gaining new
energy.
Every second of praying purifies 12,50,00,000 body
cells. Normally, within 186 days, i.e. within 2 blood cycles, our
metabolism undergoes vital changes; and the change is complete in 7 years. Good thoughts via prayers bring about good
changes in the body; and good deeds done in tune with good
thoughts can change ones future for better. To utilize some of
the energy thus gained through prayers for the good of others is
living a life of prayers.
This book contains many prayers. They are intended
for various audiences: students, parents and others, for better
3

concentration, peace and progress; and ultimately for leading a

purposeful life.
This collection of prayers is classified into six major
parts Children, Parents, Self-progress, Social Welfare, Yajna
and Light Prayer and Miscellaneous.
How and when to pray?
Pray at a fixed time and place every day. Begin with a
calm, serene mood; and reduce the desires in your mind. Concentrate upon the prayer, meditate silently, and say the prayer
with utmost clarity. Imagine that the images and vibrating sounds
produced are re-entering yourself, and being dissolved in you.
With practice, will come a serene and timeless experience.
The front cover of this booklet has Lord Krishnas message at the end of his life: the world is governed by laws, without exception. The rear cover has a symbol of ? of offering
hands, which shows how to lead your life. Normally, our palms
are used for acquiring and demanding material pleasures. They
should also be taught to give to others. This can lead to great
satisfaction.

Prayer - A logical interpretation

A prayer helps concentrate the mind. Sit still and look

inwards, into yourself. A group prayer is one that is said collectively, with a pure conscience, for the benefit of everyone. The
end purpose of prayer should be self-assessment and selfcorrection.
We belong to this entire universe. God means the humanization of virtues, a psychological symbol. Just as God is a
symbol of giving, we humans as devotees should strive to be
symbols of giving. Everything in nature is a guru (teacher) to
me, as it can teach me something. When we say hari aum tat
sat brahmarpanamastu it means our excessive greed should
be taken away for that equality that is the highest truth. The form
of ? - AUM contains Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh, as it contains
the states of creation, sustenance and decay. To develop within
ourselves the strength to help others, we pray to the Sun via the
Gayatri mantra.

Strength of Prayer in Act of Sacrifice

Words are a reflection of thoughts, a real manifestation. Words get meaning through behaviour. From the selflessness, knowledge and sacrifice of many, words get the power of
becoming a mantra. A prayer is a thoughtful symbol of good
intentions. Living a prayer means continuously reflecting on
and implementing the meaning of its words in everyday life.
As good intentions are imbibed in the mind, the body
reacts and changes as well. Your future can be impacted by
good deeds. When many people come together, collectively for
the benefit of everyone and say it, it becomes a collective prayer.
Such a prayer is more powerful as per the law of resonance.
Using the energy generated by such a prayer for societal welfare makes the prayer a success. To complement it with pure
efforts, you may supplement such a prayer with one hour of
selfless service every day.
You have the right only over your efforts, never over the
fruits of it! Bhagvad Geeta

PART I PRAYERS FOR PARENTS

Prayer for pre-birth sanskars
(to be said by the expecting couple)
We say this prayer in the name of the ultimate truth. We
believe that the events taking place in someone's life are the
consequences of their actions, beliefs, and natural laws, or
"karma". To the extent that the karma of the three of us has
come together, to that extent, we pray for the prosperity of the
baby. Even though we may not believe that we want to alter the
natural path chosen by the baby, we hold the natural wish of
well-being for the baby. "O baby, we welcome you! Come to live
a fruitful and meaningful life. If you do not object, we would like
you to become a and achieve great progress in .
For this, we will do our best to make the circumstances conducive for you. Even if that does not happen, may you benefit from
the remaining fruits of this prayer. We say this prayer for your,
our family's, nation's, world's and humankind's welfare. We wish
to remain pure via this prayer to gain what we desire and deserve. May the auspiciousness in our hearts benefit us all.
9

Prayer for pre-birth sanskars

(to be said collectively by all - parents, family members)
The following prayer, for the arriving child, may be collectively said by a minimum of 7 people, including relatives,
acquaintances, or others. Then, concentrate on a source of
light. Do some good work for the new generation.
We welcome all the living forms that have started their
journeys in the womb. A new generation is representative of the
excellence in society at the time. An advanced manifestation of
natural evolution. Like the cream of society's intelligence, brilliance, and future ambitions. We welcome this new flame. From
the darkness of the unknown to the light of knowledge, may
your arrival be successful. You bring with yourself certain wishes
and ambitions. May you be inspired to couple those with pure
knowledgeable efforts and good intentions. May you have the
freedom to choose the direction of your life as per your wishes.
May your life benefit from the strengths of courage, wealth and
peace. May you be content with a successful and prosperous
10

life. This prayer will instruct you to add pure knowledgeable

efforts and social welfare to your success. We all as parents
are praying so for the well-being of the new generation. We
strengthen this prayer with resonance energy, light energy, and
pure intentioned sacrifice. With the light energy as witness, we
offer the benefits of this prayer for your future. May these benefits make your life prosperous. May you lead a successful life
with confidence. May your success grow for you, your society,
and for mankind. With fire as our witness, we offer this new
generation the legacy of our prayers coupled with pure knowledgeable efforts.
May our child be blessed!
May everyone be blessed!
May this nation be blessed!
May the universe be blessed!

11

Prayer for post birth sanskars

(for the welfare of the baby)
Let the baby listen to the following thoughts when
asleep, preferably three times a day: morning, afternoon and
evening. Before doing so, the parent should think of and say
some thoughts regarding social or spiritual ideals (may record
these in the mother's voice).
O (baby's name)! You have to achieve much
success in your life, and become very accomplished.
When you grow up, you will go to school. In school, you
have to concentrate your mind on studying.
In this world, nothing comes free. Your parents work
hard and take a lot of effort for raising you. You should remain
grateful to your parents for these efforts.
Knowledge is the purest thing in the world. Hence, you
should respect your teachers who impart you such knowledge.
We believe you should behave following the truth and
the rules, and while doing so, achieve success in your life.
To learn and be knowledgeable, do not fear even if you
have to undertake a lot of efforts. Because if you take the efforts
12

today, you will earn the fruits of your labour in happiness.

You might commit some mistakes in your life. If someone points out your mistakes, thank them for it instead of being
angry with them.
We benefit a lot from the society we live in. Hence you
should also take efforts for your society. You should share in
society's sorrows.
You have to become great. But how? By service to
knowledge.
You may face difficulties while doing good work, like
everyone does. But you must bear them happily, and not restrict
your thoughts just to your family, but for the entire humanity. You
take care of the people, and you will become popular. Pray to be
so - "Please expand my mind to encompass my family, my
society, my country and the entire humanity."
If you believe in it, you may recite the Gayatri mantra
3 times. These thoughts should be read in entirety for the first
three days; later if you are running short on time, as a
summary, you may say to the baby "May you be blessed with
knowledge".
13

Prayer for the child (of 2-7 years)

O adorable (babys name),
We are spreading these thoughts with great love for
you. You came into this environment. You may have taken a lead
in choosing this environment. You came here, loved everyone,
and were loved by everyone. You have brought your virtues with
you. Similarly, you have brought your vices with you. Our effort is
so that your virtues may help you as much as possible. And as
part of that effort, we pray with our utmost earnestness, for your
peace. Our effort is so that your virtues may help you more, and
your vices may hurt you less. You should certainly try to suffice
your energy completely. To do so, you will have to save the
energy you may spend in irritation. By doing so, you will benefit
in two ways. In saving this energy, you will develop a habit of
peace. And the saved energy will help for your life accomplishments. The Gayatri mantra brings together peace and strength.
It is a prayer to seek knowledge, like that of the benevolent Sun.
By saying this mantra, we pray for you. By saying this mantra,
we pray for you.
(Say the gayatri mantra three times. - Page No.24)
14

Prayer for the welfare of all children

(to be said by parents collectively)
I am thinking of this collective thought, based on the
principles of resonance. May all be well with the kids in my
family and with the next generation in the entire universe. For
this, may their behaviour improve, and may society be happy. I
will contribute to the right efforts for this to happen systematically.
Prayer for welfare of the new generation
(to be said by parents collectively)
We pray collectively to teach better discipline to the
progressive and evolving minds of this clever generation. May
this prayer serve as an inspiration for the sadhakas' kids, kids
in society, and those of the next generation, for all round welfare.
Let the kids' attitudes improve for better overall development. May their intellect be inspired by truth. May their life be
successful due to stress free academic success, excellent
health, and the highest ideals. May their just ambitions be
15

helped by equality and gratitude. May the awakening of the inner energy among kids multiply their virtues and give them
strength to face obstacles courageously. May their life, informed
with nature's message of giving and purity in objectives, prosper for the benefit of the nation and the entire universe.
May the energy generated from Swamiji's work guided
by pure intentions and knowledge, the energy in their surroundings, and the good energy from all Manashakti sadhakas help
the kids' lives be prosperous and keep them away from the
excesses of desire. May the light energy that eliminates ignorance, and the truthfully inspiring energy from the Mahashoonyabindu* help the kids as per the principles of eligibility.
It is our well-intended hope that the life of these kids
prospers with ideals, which subsequently will benefit them,
their family, society, nation and humanity.

Manashakti Research Centre which is representative of strength
generated out of the selfless social service of the sadhakas of
Manashakti.

PART II PRAYERS FOR CHILDREN

Morning Prayer
(to be said after waking up in the morning)

I am grateful to my parents for their love for me. They

look after my needs. They undertake a lot of efforts for me.
Nothing in this world is free. Because of my parents, I am able
to get many things easily. I will use these things for being better
at my studies. I will continue to be grateful to my parents. I will
not do anything that will hurt them. I will not behave in a manner
that will bring them disgrace. I will apply myself completely to
my studies. I will not talk back arrogantly to my parents. I will
make their love and effort for me worth it for them. I am confident that in doing so only lies my welfare. O God, O Nature,
please help me in my goals.

17

Afternoon Prayer
(to be said in the afternoon)
I prayed in the morning. If I have committed any mistakes since then, I will reflect on them now. My teachers teach
me, for my own benefit. If my parents scold me, it is for my
benefit. Everyone makes mistakes; likewise my parents may
also sometimes make mistakes. But they take a lot of effort for
me, and sacrifice many things for me. I will not be thankless,
and will not harp on their mistakes. By Manashakti's energy
transfer experiment, I get energy to do well in my studies by
being selfless in serving society. By the same principle, I will
also make some contribution to social service. By doing so, I
will receive good benefits from the experiment. I am humbly
thankful to all who work for my welfare - my parents, my caretakers, my elders, my teachers, my society and my country. Only
with a humble mind, will I achieve success in my studies, and
benefit from the Manashaktis energy, as have many others. My
life will become successful.
18

Night Prayer
(to be said before sleeping at night)
I prayed in the morning and afternoon today. Now I will
reflect on whether I acted per it. If I did not behave accordingly,
why not? This is a moment to reflect on my mistakes, rather
than others' mistakes. Many known and unknown forces in this
world work to make my life prosperous. Something unjust may
have happened with me. But instead of being angry about it, I
should be grateful to many for the efforts they take for my benefit. The people who take efforts for me may also have their own
difficulties. I may not understand them. So I will remain calm;
and humble. If I forgot to bow to my parents today, I will remember to do so tomorrow. O God, O Nature, help me in my resolve.
If I made any mistakes today, please forgive me. Tomorrow I will
strive my best to make amends. I end my day by saluting the
energy of my parents, Manashakti, country, and nature. Because
of my prayers, I am developing unique strengths through my
internal energies and the energy transfer experiment of
Manashakti.
19

Prayer to Control Temptation

(to be said at the moment of temptation)

My life is based on the hardships of my parents and

sympathisers. Falling prey to temptation of pleasure at improper
time means nothing but to suck their blood. Temptation may
give immediate happiness; but restraint on mind would fetch
still higher happiness. If I remain ungrateful to the hardships
suffered by a number of people for me, how shall my younger
siblings and children would be grateful to me? I have learnt
primary lessons to the effect that allurement, ultimately ruins.
Or I shall take further lessons in this regard and get them fully
understood. Such lessons with scientific evidence are available. Till then I shall control my mind simply through good
thoughts. In order that my generation should live in freedom, a
number of great people such as Lokmanya Tilak, Mahatma
Gandhi, Veer Savarkar, Jayprakash Narayan, Dr Ambedkar, Pt
Nehru, Dr Hedgewar, Bhagat Singh, Dange, Mahatma Phule
20

and many others unknown to me, suffered severe hardships.

Youngsters like Bhagat Singh embraced death, so that the next
generation i.e. I should live honourably in freedom. The boys
of 14-15 years of age suffered whips just for me. Their bodies
bled just for me. At least in honour of their memory, I should
refrain myself from petty temptation. One does not require education for enjoyment. To learn to control temptations is education. I have taken education. I wish to upgrade it. O God, O
Nature, please inspire my intellect in right direction.

21

PART III PRAYERS SELF-PROGRESS

4-Minute Prayer for Self-Purification
The root cause of calamities is the mind's desire for
happiness. Excessive happiness leads to calamities, sorrow
and disease. This prayer for purifying one's self means admitting to oneself the mistakes that one has made; from this moment, promising oneself to fix the mistakes made and behaving such that mistakes are not committed again; and resolving
to behave in an unselfish manner. In making this resolve, "AUM",
which is pervasive in this entire universe, in every atom, is my
witness. "Hari" also means take away my excessive greed. Because of this prayer, you will resolve to behave more righteously
than yesterday, and boost your confidence. For creating an atmosphere of concentration before the prayer, utter good thoughts
followed by the prayer.
The prayer lasts for four minutes. The first minute is to
recollect mistakes made yesterday. The second minute is promise oneself to fix the mistakes made yesterday. The third minute
22

is to utter your resolve for the truth, and that is reciting the prayer.
The fourth minute is to experience peace.
Suggested time: 7:58 a.m.

O eternal force representing the eternal truth, I am the

creation of my own deeds and expectations. There is no easy or
false way to free myself of my deeds and expectations. Of course,
with this newly found realization and knowledge, everyday my
entire being is becoming purer. O eternal force, keep this positive realization, inspiration, and knowledge within me forever.
Let my excessive desire be taken away. Whatever that
is supposed to be mine, I surrender to the Brahma i.e. transcendent reality, and equality. Whatever that will remain will be
the best.

23

Gayatri Mantra

VV g{dVwdao ^Jm} Xod Yr{h &

{Ymo mo Z: MmoXmV&&
[In Sanskrit: Aum tat-saviturvarenyam, bhargo devasya
dheemahi, dhiyo yo nah prachodayaat]

O God Savita (the Protector)! The Sun receives energy

from you and always keeps himself burning in order to
distribute that energy to the entire universe. Please give my
intellect the inspiration to imitate such selfless behaviour of
the Sun.

24

Prayer for Self-Reflection

(for self-improvement)

I am calling upon my internal energy and resolving to

work towards my own welfare. My personality has evolved
based on my behaviour till today. From today onwards, I
resolve to seek only good inspiration. For the bad experiences
I have had, instead of blaming others, I will myself reflect upon
them. Instead of seeking false satisfaction, I will rely on courage and good wisdom. Because of this, I will gain long
lasting peace and success. To the extent that I am achieving
this, I am at peace now itself.

25

PART IV SOCIAL WELFARE

The following prayers are to be said in group for the welfare of
society, nation and universe.

Prayer for Social Service

As the contentment in the society around me increases, my
personal contentment will also increase. In my life, I have benefitted from many known and unknown individuals and forces.
In reciprocity, it is my duty to spend some of my energies for the
benefit of known and unknown individuals and forces. The more
I fulfil this duty, the more I will be delighted. I am experiencing
that delight to the extent I have fulfilled my duty in my work today.
May my delight grow to inspire my family, my society, my country,
and entire humanity.

26

Prayer for National Welfare

This nation should become great. For this to happen, along with non-stop efforts, it is also necessary
to purify our surroundings. We are combining these
two aims.
May all be well with humanity!
May all be well with this nation!!
May all be well with the individual!!!

27

Prayer for Welfare of the Universe

The welfare of the universe is my constant thought.

Self-examination is my tool.
I have no enemies outside of me.
I may have some enemy inside me for sure.
Day by day, as my knowledge based work will grow,
One day the entire world will be mine.
Science and beliefs are in my skin.
Gratitude is my righteous path.
Insulting others is forbidden to me.
Peace and equality are my actions.
Inequality and corruption lead to my total destruction.
Equality and unity lead to my piousness.
For me, my family, my society and my humanity,
Strength, strength, strength. Peace, peace, peace.

28

PART VI YAJNA AND LIGHT PRAYER

Yajna Prayer
(to be said while presenting offerings to the fire of Yajna)

I present you my offerings.

Please rid me of excessive greed.
I think of my vices and surrender unto you.
I think of my virtues and surrender unto you.
For my self-realization, I surrender unto you.
May this light be full of virtues.
May this energy be full of virtues.
May this peace be full of virtues.

29

Prayer of Light
Suggested time : 7.30 to 7.42 pm
Format : Individually, or in a group.
Setting: Ideally, sit in front of a source or symbol of
light (for example, the flame of a candle) in an otherwise dark
room. Concentrate on the light and say the prayer. After reciting,
continue to concentrate on the light, and reflect on the thoughts
just expressed.
Total time for prayer and concentration: 12 minutes.
O symbol of Light,
We tend to instil within ourselves the qualities of objects that we concentrate upon. Five branches of mind and brain
science have found this to be the case. That is why I concentrate on your image and you.
O Light,I have ambitions. While fulfilling them, working
for the welfare of others will bring prominence to me as well.
Only you, O Light, embody a unique confluence of the qualities
of equality and providing energy. Hence I seek to become one
30

with you and ask for strength.

The Sun, our source of light, burns his internal energy
and provides light to the entire world. O Light, as a symbol of the
Sun, you bring this wisdom to me. [In Sanskrit Gayatri Mantra:
Aum tat-saviturvarenyam bhargo devasya dheemahi, dhiyo yo
nah prachodayaat].
O symbol of brilliance, I ask for a favour from the Sun.
But as I ask someone stronger for strength, I realize that it is
only fair that I provide strength to someone weaker. Hence, I will
also give to others - if I cannot give wealth, I will at least give
information.
O Light, you end darkness. You are the Sun. You define
the day. You create the morning glow. May your revitalizing form
make me pure outside and inside. May my vices vanish into the
dark. May I get rid of arrogance and ignorance. Give me the
strength to cooperate. May this awakening in our surroundings
have universal ambitions.
O Light, please fulfil all my wishes in your single
31

cycle of time. Bless my children. Bless my country. Bless this

world. I am convinced that you will do so as it is the law. That
is my assurance to myself.
It will be so. It will be so. It will be so.

32

PART VI MISCELLANEOUS PRAYERS

Worship of Truth
O eternal God, the truth incarnate,
The only way to avert the eight disastrous consequences of untruths in my life is to resolve to worship the
truth. There is no other easier or faster way. May I gain the
inspiration for this worship of truth, either by the means of
knowledge, action or devotion. May these virtues benefit my
future, my subtle energies, my paternal energies, my loved
ones, my nation and all of humanity.

33

Prayer for Purification of Physical Spaces Vastushaman

Reference: Satyashaadh Sutra, Anandashram Edition, Pages 600-603
Many cultures suggest praying for the purposes of purifying physical spaces such as land, homes, buildings. Pure
thoughts in the surroundings and associated good deeds for
benefit of society may prevent calamities. A prayer of the essence below can help.
O universal energy,
I am concentrating my body, speech and mind in meditation while remembering you.
The many principles in science, spirituality, customary
tradition, and morality highlight the contrasts in selfish actions.
Noting these scientific and religious principles, I pray that the
restlessness in this space may be balanced and evened out.
May my loving thoughts of equality and balance reach out to the
existing energies of this space. May my prayers for universal
34

peace resonate with the roots of action in this space.

The effects of any created action are permanent. I have
some realization of this. I will gain rest of the realization with
time. I am taking conscious action about it today. May everyone
who has been here be content with knowledge. May their positive energies be strengthened. May their virtues multiply. May
everyone benefit. May the darkness of the timid be dispelled.
Wise men say - may people do good deeds; and then may each
get what he desires. May the same happen with me.
May every capable individual harbour appropriate
goals. Nature selects those that are the most deserving. Those
selected should remain humble. The goals of a knowledgeable life are cooperation , balance, and success of universal
purpose. I will keep these in mind as I work towards my goals.
May these thoughts reach out to all associated with this place.
I am affected by the effects of the thoughts of everyone
who has been here in the past. Energy can only be sustained in
a kinetic or potential state. May my prayers reach out to the
35

energies in both states. We worship the land, build upon it. Its
surroundings are imbalanced due to thought-action. It is our
task to balance these surroundings. I utter these thoughts to
balance all thoughts - may energy, individuals and the universe
benefit from them. Per universal law, I too have to leave this
space with time. May I commit no act that will make me repent.
May I preserve the sacredness of this space. Whatever motion
has been created here due to my physical body, I humbly pray
these motions progress towards the development of peace.
Being content in a given situation is a purer way of
achieving peace for everyone. This ensures future progress. I
accept this task. Thought reverberations never die out. Keeping
this in mind, I ask that may my energy and knowledge take away
the discontent in this space to universal satisfaction. Many sacrifices have been made to build this country. Many lives were
sacrificed. Many flowers were crushed. Many fruits dried. Many
have sacrificed for my welfare. Many have digested the shocks
of failure with knowledge. Failure has to be accepted with knowl36

edge, and success with humility: and that is what I will do.
May my country prosper.
May humanity prosper.
May peace prosper.
May I prosper.

37

Prayer for Cure and Peace

(to be done by persons suffering from bodily diseases or mental agonies)
Please straighten your spine, close your eyes, and pray
to the following effect.
I am convinced of the importance of truth. Selfishness
may have led me to be untrue. Whatever anger, fear arises,
affects my body and cells in my body. My cells that suffer injustice may seek revenge on my body from outside or within. I call
these effects disease, calamity or pain. I am convinced of this
logic. If in doubt, I will study this further. Even if I accept this logic,
I may not be able to immediately behave in complete truth devoid of emotion. The other path is that I sacrifice some of my
selfish gain. Accordingly, I will commit . percent of my
time or effort towards organized selfless work. If not this, then at
least once a year I will commit to Satya-pooja. According to my
results, I will encourage others. My actions will have an effect on
my cells as well as my surroundings. The shocks that my body
38

cells receive due to my selfish gains will be reduced by the

extent of my selfless sacrifice. To that extent, I will suffer less. I
suffer from ... May the associated cells realize
the changes in my resolve. May they cooperate with me to the
extent I act upon these changes. I do not insist that my pain,
sorrow or calamity vanish immediately. And if it does vanish, I
will accept this success humbly. From this preliminary humility
itself, I am having a unique experience from this instant. I am
sure to achieve success, peace of mind and happiness on this
route.

39

Prayer for connecting with the spirit of Swamij Vijnananand

We humbly salute Swamiji - who went from the pursuit
of light to the samadhi of light to becoming one with the infinite
energy of light. We will continue to do our work humbly, loyally
and knowingly on the path that he outlined. Swamiji would say
"when my body falls down, perhaps the knowledge mission
flag may fall down - at that time, move my body aside, but do not
let the mission of knowledge fall behind." Swamiji, you have left
behind your body to become one with the universal energy. We
have not, and will not leave the mission for knowledge that you
started. Now we have to continue our work going forward on
your prescribed direction. We resolve to do that. May our inspiration be pure. May we remain united, think as one, and work as
one. For this, we say: "O virtuous Swamiji, may your departure
be an inspiration for many. We recite the message sent by the
light in the Vedas to the Sun in remembrance of your inspiration. The light had said O Sun, you kept burning all day to
provide light to the entire world, and you continue to burn all
night as well. Taking the same inspiration, I will burn this little
flame and strive to walk on your path. I will do the same. We all
will do the same."
