What can I say: Yes, Im an addict .... to ACOUSTIC MIRROR of SONIC FOUNDRY.
The great thing about this plug-in is, that you can create MIRRORS of your sound
-equipment and you
can overlay or mix it to the file you like.
I mirrored nearly all my equipment, that I have collected now for years and ....
these files are the result.
On Producing A MIRROR:
For best DA-AD conversion I used my T.C. Finalizer Plus. For amps- & microphonemirrors I used my
SPL GoldMike, like I would make a recording. For mirroring the microphones I use
d my GENELEC-Speaker
system, because they have a nearly flat response and even work at 30Hz.
Someone said: "You cant match the original, because youll have to get about 1000 m
irrors to come
close to what you can do with a JoeMeek or a Marshall or a UREI."
but I have to say: the sound is very, very similar.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
On Using The Studio-Mirrors: Youll get no compression effect, youll get the soundcharacter of
the original device when the effect works. Youll have to use a different
compressor: Ill
recommend to use Waves RCL or Timeworks Compressor-X.
On Using The Amp-Mirrors: Youll get no distortion effect. Try distortion with Ste
inberg FuzzBox
or QuadraFuzz or RedValve IT and then overlay the mirror of the amp youd
like.
WOW, youll be amazed!!!
If youd like record your guitar or bass go direct with a little analog (o
r t.c.finalizer)
compression.
Download the Testfiles: "BASSandGTR.zip" (inluding a recorded 1968 Fende
r Jazz-Bass, 6120
Gretsch, 1962 Fender Stratocaster, 1980 Gibson LesPaul Heritage) from my
SITE for testing!
On Using the Microphone Mirrors: I included some MINUS-FILES. These files first
take away the
character of a SM58 or SM57 and overlays the character of the microphone
youll choose.
Otherwise youll get a soundmix-character of SM57/58 and the one youll choo
se and ....
that wont come close to the sound of the original microphone.
Download the Vocal-Testfiles: "VocalSM57andSM58.zip" from my SITE for te
sting!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
General Information:
Youll have to use compression or distortion first, then normalize the sound to -1
dB, because SONIC
FOUNDRY say: "Then youre sure there will be no digital software distortion."
Then use the ACOUSTIC MIRROR Plug-In, set it to the highest resolution, which is
setting
quality-speed = 5, then youll get the best results.
You can adjust the fader "APPLY ENVELOPE AND LIMIT DECAY TO", that there is no d
ropout or
CPU-overload. Adjust the WET OUT fader, so that there is no data over 0dB.
(I recommend to set the dry out to inf. for best results, but feel free to exper
iment)
