Sample numbers correspond to those listed in Table 1. For an explanation of song types see Materials and
Methods. Harmonicity (i.e., whether the frequencies of the individual song notes are integer multiples of an
implied base frequency) was determined using a generative Bayesian model and a least-squares regression
model as described in Materials and Methods. For recording speed, 1 corresponds to the actual speed of the
birdsong, whereas 6 indicates that the recording has been slowed down by a factor of 6 to bring the speed and
frequency of the songs into a range more suitable for human hearing.
