Teacher Evaluation Methods: Arlington Baptist College
Upon the completion of each semester at Arlington Baptist College, professors are
evaluated by each individual student within the professors course. These students are
required to fill out an evaluation sheet that is drafted and proposed by the Academic Dean
of the institution. During this evaluation time, the professor of record for the course is
not present within the classroom. The department chair, the Academic Dean, or an
elected professor will sit in as the acting professor for the class period. Once all student
evaluations within the institution have been collected, a compilation of positive and
negative feedback will be submitted to the professor of record by the Academic Dean.
Any feedback relating to the institutions overall campus environment, positive or
negative, is subject for review by the faculty and staff at the end of each term in the
semester report.
Professors within Arlington Baptist College may also be evaluated by the
Academic Dean in an effort to review course structure, classroom management, and
delivery and knowledge of material. Professors who are new to campus, or professors
who are new to the college curriculum, are subject to review more than once in a
semester. Once the Academic Dean, or the department chair, has evaluated a professor at
ABC, he or she will receive an assessment from the Dean of Academics. Another form of
evaluation received at Arlington Baptist College that reaches every level of operation
within the institution is the students Timothy Day survey. All students are required to fill
out a brief online survey highlighting several different issues to get a better understanding
of the student voice on our campus. These surveys are an informal way of evaluating
every aspect of Arlington Baptist Colleges day to day operation. All surveys and
evaluations completed by students are completely anonymous to professors.
The evaluations students complete within each course are effective and useful for
professors to measure their delivery methods and their knowledge of the content from the
students perspective. Each individual student learns and retains knowledge by different
avenues of delivery. As college professors, we can be oblivious to our techniques and
methods because they are comfortable, and we feel as if we are expressing the material in
the best fashion that we know. At the collegiate level, we are running a business.
Students are the customers that run our business and we should continue to evolve our
methods and strategies in the classroom to constantly drive our customer satisfaction.
The ability to receive student feedback is necessary and effective for ABC to decipher
between the continuous negative and positive experiences that our customers are taking
in during their time with us. Evaluations we receive from our Dean of Academics gives
each professor the ability to know how effective we are in following, knowing,
delivering, and using the curriculum designated for our institution, as well as giving each
professor insight as to their effectiveness of teaching from a professional perspective.

In addition, the Timothy Day surveys received from students gives everyone
involved with ABC the chance to review thoughts and comments collected from the
student body in many different capacities. These surveys are an informal evaluation that
has helped our athletic department make positive adjustments and strides and continue to
affect many other aspects of campus life. Though they are extremely informal, this is an
evaluation method of each essential part of Arlington Baptist College.
