GENERAL DIRECTIONS: On your answer sheet, copy the letter of the correct answer
I. Reading
Directions: Read the selections below and answer the questions that follow.
What is faith? Faith is believing in
possibilities. It is the ability to carry on with our
plans or to be true to our work even when though
we feel discouraged or tired. It is staying active in
relationship even when our friends arent able to
respond.
If there were no doubts, there would be
no need for faith. Faith is temporarily putting our
doubts on the shelf and working toward our goals
Faith is trusting that help and support will be
there for us even though they are not in view. It is
looking at a map and choosing a new destination,
getting on the road to go there, and trusting that
the marks on the map symbolize a real place that
we will find.

girl who kills herself because she believes that suicide is
the only solution to her problem. More than that,
imagine asking us to believe that she and all the other
characters in the play talk to each other by singing. The
theater is a lily that inexplicably arises from a jungle of
weedy falsities. Yet it is precisely from the tension
produces by all this absurdity that theater is able to
create such poetry, power, enchantment and truth

years, with little virus in their blood before developing AIDS,
conventional wisdom held that the deadly invader was
dormant of that time. Not so say two studies in Nature. The
intruding virus begins to multiply immediately, producing
millions of copies that lie waiting in the lymph nodes, the
pea-sized organs that are found throughout the body. Once
key parts of the immune system are destroyed, this reservoir
of virus spills into the blood. Such a massive early attack may
make it impossible to rid the body completely of the virus
and underscores the importance of prevention in fighting
AIDS .
