rest of this document contains the project scope, goals, objectives, deliverables and assumptions.

1. Project Title
DeFoor Greenhouse Website (DFGW).

2. Introduction
This is a Website development project for DeFoors state-of-the-art greenhouse in Tucumcari, New
Mexico.
The greenhouse will include wind-generated electricity, geothermic heat exchangers, and light from
solar tracking devices. The greenhouse will be operational mid June 2006. The greenhouse will begin
growing tomatoes using containers that were developed specifically for DeFoor. Later they will add
onions and various types of peppers. DeFoor have been involved in discussions with Del Monte and
Hunts as prospective customers and would like to market on a nationwide basis.

3. Project Scope
DeFoor has requested a Website that includes the following:

Information about their organization (mission, history).


Information about the various technologies involved (including graphics)
A form that allows prospective customers to contact them.
A form that allows customers to place orders
A Web cam that shows the interior of the greenhouse

4. Project Goals
The project will deliver all the client requirements identified and documented in the scope of the
project charter.

5. Project Objectives
The project will be completed before the greenhouse becomes operational (scheduled for mid June
2006) to enable DeFoor customers to visit the company Website and place orders.

7. Deliverable Scope
The Website is to deliver all the items identified in the project scope.
The successful completion of this project assumes that DeFoors internal network will be available to
support the Website.

8. Organizational Scope
Both DeFoor and Midland Consulting, Inc. are impacted by the project and both the companies are
mutually responsible for any delays in project delivery.

9. Temporal Scope
The project start date is 3/20/06 and estimated finish date is 6/04/06 (11 weeks). The major
milestones and their start and end dates are as follows:

The project will conform to the following constraints:


1. The following holidays are observed: Memorial Day (the last Monday in May), July 4th, Labor
Day (the first Monday in September), Thanksgiving (the fourth Thursday in November), and
December 25th and 26th.
2. If a holiday falls on a Saturday, then Friday will be given as an extra day off; if it falls on a
Sunday, then Monday will be given as a day off.
3. The project team works Monday through Friday.
The total estimated hours for the project (based on the estimated start and end dates) is 440 hours.

10. Financial Scope


The project shall not exceed the cost of $100,000 without authority from DeFoor management.
There are five people assigned for this project - one project manager and four employees. The project
manager will work on this project full time, two employees are full time, and two employees are halftime only. The manager bills $40.00 an hour, and the employees bill $25.00 an hour.

11.Assumptions
1. The resources are available throughout the project based on their time allocated to this project.
2. Any changes to the initial scope will be captured, documented and worked upon in later
phases/releases of this project.
3. The required hardware and software costs are within the budget.
4. The network is ready for testing/implementation.
5. The Web applications are thoroughly tested before implementation.
