HOW WE HELP:
Facilitate cross-system partnerships to address the needs and build on the strengths of youth and families
involved with child- and family-serving agencies and align them with broader state reform agendas
Develop and disseminate resources on topics that include opportunities available through Medicaid,
child welfare, juvenile justice, education, and public health sectors
Encourage and support family and youth-professional partnerships, family-driven and youth-guided care,
family and youth leadership, and cultural and linguistic competence
Promote trauma-informed care and other evidence-based, research-informed, and promising practices
and service delivery models, including the use of screening and assessment tools and monitoring of
psychotropic medication
Host a web-based resource center that includes relevant, timely information on state and federal
health reform efforts that impact childrens behavioral health, including components such as financing,
program redesign, and clinical practice
Provide field-driven, practical, and operationally-focused technical assistance tailored to state and
local realities
OUR APPROACH:
The TA Network is supported by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to
provide training and technical assistance to states and communities funded by the Comprehensive Community
Mental Health Services for Children and Their Families Program (system of care grantees).
The TA Networks technical and training assistance approach includes a flexible array of options that provide
generalized, individualized, and intensive technical assistance (TA):
Generalized TA: Online assistance that benefits all system of care grantees, family- and youth-run
organizations, and other system partners; this level of TA is also available to non-grantees, and includes the
weekly Tuesday TA Telegram and periodic newsletters.
Individualized TA: Based on a grantees identified needs, this level may include assignment of a systems
coach and/or subject matter experts to support individualized and dynamic TA plans; this level of TA also
includes our Rapid Response TA system for specific questions or requests for resource material.
Intensive TA: This assistance is focused on grantees that are in stages of development where an intensive
and customized approach will accelerate their ability to advance system of care expansion and sustainability;
this level of TA may include peer-exchanges and on-site TA from our core partners or consultant pool.
