BUSINESS CARDS
Description:
I made a business card ad business letterhead for a business called Prestigious Polish.
It is a nail polish company advertising nail polish.

Programs:
Adobe Illustrator & Adobe InDesign.

Date:
November 7, 2014

Course:
Visual Media

Instructor:
Ben Pingel

Objectives:
-Learn how to use Adobe Illustrator and InDesign
-Learn how to link Adobe programs together

Process:
The process consisted of me choosing a business to make a business card for. I then had
to look for ideas on the web to decide what works best for me. I then got some ideas and
picked a color scheme. I had to first create a new logo and then made my business cards
in Adobe Illustrator. I was able to use my logo from Illustrator into InDesign. I was able to
update and then have it be changed on InDesign. I was able to use this using links. I had
many people critique my draft to give me the best feedback possible. I then changed a few
things suggested, and fixed my draft in the best way possible. I then had my final business
cards with a company called Prestigious Polish.

to make my logo the best I can. Through this process I learned how important it is to make a
letterhead and business cards similar for a company. They need to look similar so that people
they are advertising for know they are for the same business.

MONTAGE
Description:
The main principle of this project was to create a Montage using a Gaussian Blur, having at
least 2 pictures, and having it have some spiritual context or theme. My project was showing the
background- an image of this beautiful earth, and showing Christ with his arms opening wide. The
message was to show that God sent us here on this beautiful earth not to fail, but to succeed. I am
wanting to show future clients my experience using Photoshop.

Programs
Adobe Photoshop

Date:
October 25,2014

Course:
Visual Media

Instructor:
Ben Pingel

Objectives:
-Learn how to apply Gaussian blur
-Learn how to use brush tool to blend pictures & objects
-Learn how to apply the feathering feature

Process:
For this project I used Adobe Photoshop. I changed the levels, the colors, and the vibrance of my
picture in the background. I then was able to insert my picture of Christ, and I used the brush tool
to blend and feather the outside. I placed the image and changed the size. I had to insert a new
layer in order to do this type of editing. This took many trial and error attempts but I was finally able
to change the size of my feathering to make the image blend. I then brightened the image, and
changed the opacity on it as well. I then found a quote that I love by Richard G. Scott talking about
why our Heavenly Father sent us on this earth.

EVENT AD

Description:
An ad for a type of benefit for raising money. I chose my ad to be auctioning pumpkins

picture out by using Word. This project taught me most how to be creative when you
are not permitted to use the Adobe programs.

good lighting, and implementing the sky into my picture somehow. I had to learn how to
use many tools in Photoshop such as editing the color of the photo, using tools such as
the Eyedropper tool, and many others. My skills consisted of teaching myself how to use
Photoshop to make a picture look the best it can be. I also had to apply a color scheme in
this project which was analogous.

Process:
The process I used included creating many shapes such as rectangles and on my first
logo I created a V shape to tie the lines in together. For my second logo I created three
rectangles that are all different sizes and colors. For my third logo I found a sun that I liked,
and was able to draw it and make my own shape of the sun using the pen tool. I then picked
color schemes for each of my designs that I felt match best for my moms business. I then
chose fonts that I thought were appealing and would stand out to grab others attention.

FLIER

Description:
This is a flier in black and white which is promoting a graduate leadership conference.

Programs:
Adobe InDesign

Date:
October 3, 2014

Course:
Visual Media

Instructor:
Ben Pingel

Objectives:
-Learned how to use proper design principles
-Learned how to apply rules of typography

Process:
This was my first project for this course. So I first Googled some ideas for fliers, and
looked at many different fliers trying to see if any of them caught my eye. After gathering
some ideas of what I wanted to do with my flier I sketched four different ideas to get me
started. I then put all of the information on InDesign and the picture I wanted to use, then
began going off my sketches on where I thought the text and picture would look best. I
then decided to make a light circle which ended up being the focal point of my flier. I then
thought it would make the eye circle around the important parts of the flier. I was also
given the image and the text used for this flier.
