Version 3.5

Module 3

CUCM System and Phone Basics :: Tasks

Lab Instructions:
Prior to starting this lab, ensure that you have both read through the Voice Rack Rental
Guide before beginning this lab, so that you are fully aware of how all equipment works
and is accessed, and that you have loaded both the initial router/switch configs from
INEs members site, and that you have manually loaded the CUCM initial configs as
described below.

Note
- Most Deep Dive lab scenarios require existing configuration before they can begin to
be configured. Also, most lab scenarios use different pre-configuration from other Deep
Dive labs. Therefore it is necessary to load the "Startup Configs" prior to beginning any
of these lab scenarios.
- To load your router and switch configs, first log into your INE.com Members account,
then navigate to the "Rack Rental" tab, and click on "Control Panel" >> "Click here to
choose a configuration to be loaded on your Voice Rack", then choose the appropriately
named selection for this module. This will only load your router and switch configs
(pstn, r1, r2, r3, sw1, sw2).
- To load your CUCM server initial configs, please log into the CUCM Admin WebUI,
and use the Bulk Administration tool to upload & import the appropriately named DDModXX-CUCM-Startup.tar" file that was included in your Members account for this
module. Here are two brief demonstration videos on how to successfully accomplish this
upload and import into CUCM: Importing or Exporting Configurations in CSV file from
CUCM (15 mins), and Fixing Any Issues That May Arise With Importing CSS and
CdPTP & CngPTPs (8 mins).

Module 3

CUCM System: Activate Services and System Server(s)

Activate all Services via Servicability on both CUCM Pub and Sub servers
Change the Server(s) from Hostname format to IP address format

CUCM System: Cisco Unified CM Group

Modify the default CUCM Group:
o The group should prioritize the Subscriber Call Processing Engine (CPE)
over the Publisher CPE
o Rename the group to something intuitive that will allow for later CUCM
WebUI easy recognition of the order of servers therein

CUCM System: Cisco Unified CM(s)

Enable Auto-Registration for only the proper Cisco Unified CM
Assign the Auto-Registration range of DNs to be 5000-5999
o Erase these DNs from the system once Auto-Registration has been
completed after a later task in this module
Note the port numbers here for easy, later reference

CUCM System: Date/Time Group

Create three Date/Time Groups:
o One group is for all CorpHQ devices and should be in the Pacific Standard
Time zone, and allow for Daylight Savings Time
o One group is for all Branch1 devices and should be in the Central
Standard Time zone, and allow for Daylight Savings Time
o One group is for all Branch2 devices and should be in the Central Europe
Standard Time zone, and allow for Daylight Savings Time
Change this D/T group to allow for a format where the Day comes
before the Month and a "dot" (.) is between each section of
numbers
Do not allow "a" or "p" to display after the time on IP Phones that
use this D/T group

CUCM System: Region(s)

Modify the "default" Region and rename it to "R_CorpHQ"
Configure two additional Regions to be later assigned to all Branch1 and
Branch2 devices respectively. Name them intuitively following the format of the
CorpHQ Region
Ensure that all voice codec negotiation within each site utilizes the G.711uLaw
codec as a maximum. Do not configure any settings on any Regions page to
accomplish this task

Module 3

Ensure that all voice codec negotiation between any site and CorpHQ as well as
any site and Branch1, utilize the G.729 codec as a maximum. Do not configure
any settings on either CorpHQ or Branch1 Regions page to accomplish this task
Ensure that all voice codec negotiation between any site and Branch2 utilize a
codec best suited for Internet communications
Ensure that the G.722 voice codec is never able to be negotiated so that newer
Cisco Generation 3 & 4 type IP Phones (referred to as G3 &G4 IP Phones) will
not suffer a lower codec negotiation to G.711 when making a call to a G2 or G1
IP Phone, but will instead always use the lesser G.711 codec
Assign the ability between any site and CorpHQ as well as any site and Branch1,
to have a maximum, video-channel-based call negotiated - equal to the speed of
six bonded ISDN B-channels
Assign the ability between any site and Branch2, to have a maximum, videochannel-based call negotiated - equal to the speed of 18 bonded ISDN Bchannels

CUCM System: Locations

Explore the default settings of the "Hub_None" Location, but do not modify
anything. This Location will be used for the CorpHQ site
Create two additional Locations to be later assigned to all Branch1 and Branch2
devices respectively. Name them intuitively following the format of the
"L_Branch1" and "L_Branch2"
Allow for maximum total of five G.729 calls between the CorpHQ (Hub_None)
and Branch1 sites
Allow for maximum total of three iLBC calls between the CorpHQ (Hub_None)
and Branch2 sites

CUCM System: SRST References

Create two SRST References to be later assigned to all Branch1 and Branch2
devices respectively. Name them intuitively following the format of the
"SRST_Branch1" and "SRST_Branch2"
Assign the "SRST_Branch1" reference the IP address of the Loopback0 interface
on Branch1 (R2) for both SCCP and SIP endpoints
Assign the "SRST_Branch2" reference the IP address of the Loopback0 interface
on Branch2 (R3) for both SCCP and SIP endpoints

CUCM System: Device Pools

Modify the "default" Device Pool and rename it to "DP_CorpHQ"
Configure two additional Device Pools to be later assigned to all Branch1 and
Branch2 devices respectively. Name them intuitively following the format of the
CorpHQ Device Pool
Assign the proper respective Regions, Date/Time Groups, Locations, and SRST
References to each Device Pool created
Ensure that if an "on-hold" call reverts, and simultaneously a new call is incoming
(ringing) at any CorpHQ IP Phone, that the call that was on hold will have the
priority to being selected when a that IP Phone user goes "off-hook"

CUCM System: Enterprise Parameters

Change any reference in any URL from Hostname format to IP address format

3.10 CUCM System: Enterprise Parameters

Allow IP Phone users to customize the appearance of a Line Label from their
"ccmuser" web page
Allow IP Phone users to change their Call Forward All phone number, however
do not allow them to change any other type of Call Forward number
Later after you auto-register phones, create a user and assign it to any phone
device, and login to the /ccmuser web page to verify this task works properly

3.11 CUCM System: System Parameters

Ensure that when any IP Phone goes to transfer a call to another party, that they
have the ability to simply press softkey for Transfer, then dial the number they
wish to transfer to, and then hang up without any further button presses

3.12 CUCM System: System Parameters

Change the default Interdigit Timeout from 15 seconds to 5 seconds

3.13 CUCM IP Phones: Phone Button and Softkey Templates

Create a new Phone Button Template for 7961-type phones (both SCCP and
SIP) that allows for (in this order):
o Two Lines
o Two Busy Lamp Field Speed Dials
o One Call Park Busy Lamp Field
o One Intercom DN
Create a new Softkey Template for 7961-type phones (both SCCP and SIP) that
allows for:
o IP Phone users to forward any incoming, ringing calls directly to VM

o Perform a Quality Report on any calls that are already in progress and
connected
Ensure that these both of these new templates are the default for any newly
created or auto-registered IP Phones
Also ensure that any newly created or auto-registered IP Phones have the
default functionality that when they select Do Not Disturb (DND), that all incoming
calls forward automatically to VM

3.14 CUCM IP Phones: SCCP

Auto-Register all IP Phones (both those in front of you and attached directly to
the rack as per your topology) to the CUCMSub CPE as SCCP-based firmware
phones, except the IP Phone at CorpHQ attached to 3560 (SW1) Port Fa0/2 Do not allow that phone to register at all at this time

3.15 CUCM IP Phones: SIP

Auto-Register the IP Phone at CorpHQ attached to 3560 (SW1) Port Fa0/2 to

the CUCMSub CPE as SIP-based firmware phones. Do not set this phone up in
the CUCM DB manually

3.16 CUCM IP Phones: SIP

Ensure that all SIP Phones attempt to re-register with the CUCM every 30
minutes
