Description: This is an event ad with full bleed along the top edge. The advertisement promotes a Charity Gala fundraiser.
Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): The entire ad was created using only a scanner in the Spori Lab and Microsoft Word 2013.
The image is from a textbook used in another Communication class. I scanned onto a computer. I then inserted it into Microsoft
Word 2013 and got to work. I mainly used square shapes as a background for the text. The colors behind the text can be found
in the photo on the left side. For the fonts, I chose some that seemed elegant, yet legible.
Message: This design is advertising a Charity Gala which serves as a fundraiser for the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society. The
goal of the design was to make it look friendly and inviting.
Audience: My audience for this particular event is men and women 35 years and older. It is primarily geared to those who are
financially secure and willing to donate to the Navy-Marine Relief Society.
Color scheme and color names: The color scheme I used was Split Complimentary using Blue, Brick, and Gold (within the
picture).
Top Thing Learned: The top thing I learned was how to scan an image into a computer and re-size it.
Title Font Name & Category: Monotype Corsiva- Serifed Script
Copy Font Name & Category: Agency FB- Modern
Scanned images used, sources, original sizes, location of scanner used: The image I used of the dancers is from a
textbook Looking Out Looking In by Ronald B. Adler and Russell F. Proctor II (Comm 150 Textbook). The original size was
approximately 75, and the scanner was located in the Spori Lab.

Description: This project is meant to demonstrate good photography, editing, and photo design poster layout skills.
Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): I started by choosing a specific color scheme. I then assembled the objects together and
photographed them. I used a basic point & shoot camera. I uploaded the photo into Photoshop and did some basic edits including vibrance, sharpening, and blurring. I then created a poster layout for the photo with the color scheme present in the photo.
The fonts I chose contrast in weight and serifs. The poster uses basic block designs.
Message: I wanted to add a message that went along with the beauty products in the photo. I chose What makes you different,
makes you beautiful in hopes that it will uplift readers.
Audience: Women of all ages
Top Thing Learned: I learned how to use Photoshop to add basic edits to photos that dramatically improve the look and focus
of the photo.
Color scheme and color names: Analogous- Blue, Green, & Teal
