STRATEGY OF THE EVENTS/PROBLEM:

A method or plan to bring a desired future, such as achievement of a goal or solution to a
problem.

Government Regulations
Government regulations are one of the problems in Shiva Texyarn limited, because
government changed rules and regulations according for time to time. The obligations
to produced controlled cloth are against the interest of the industry. During the last two
years the regulations exercised by the government on the mill sector has promoted
inefficiency in both production and management. This has also resulted in a waste of
raw materials and productive facilities.

Low Yield and Fluctuation of Cotton Output

In Shiva Texyarn Limited, the cotton yield per hectare of land is very low. This results
in high cost and price. Further, being largely dependent on the climatic factors, the total
raw cotton production is subject to wide fluctuation causing serious problems for the
mills in respect of the supply of this vital raw material.

Competition from other Countries

Shiva Texyarn is one of the international industry in the world, has been facing severe
competition from other countries like Taiwan, South Korea, China and Japan. The high
cost of production of the industry is a serious adverse factor.

Miscellaneous
The Shiva Texyarn Limited faces a number of other problems like infrastructural
problems, lack of finance, rise in raw material prices and production costs etc.

Competition from Man-made Fibres

One of the serious challenges facing the Shiva texyarn limited is the competition from
the man-made fibres and synthetics. These textures are gradually replacing cotton
textiles.

SPINNING
Spinning is the process of making yarns from the textile fiber. Spinning is a major part of
the textile industry. It is part of the textile manufacturing process where three types of
fibre are converted into yarn, then fabrics, which undergo finishing processes such as
bleaching to become textiles. The textiles are then fabricated into clothes or other
products. Spinning is the first steps of textile product processing. The term 'spinning' can
be refer to the whole activity or just to the final process of making the yarn from fibers.
There are various types of spinning methods for producing various types of yarn. Ringspinning is the most common spinning method in the world. Spinning is the most
important and the initial step in fabric manufacturing. The major goals of spinning is to
produce the quality yarn from raw material, then remove the process faults followed by
winding the short.

Spinning
BLOW ROOM
Blow room is the starting of the spinning operation where the fibre is opened, cleaned,
mixed, micro dust removed and evened thus passed to carding machine. Opening is the
first operation within the blow room in which the goal is always a high degree of
openness of material with gentle treatment. Blending of fiber material is an essential
preliminary in the production of a yarn.

Page 11

SHIVA TEXYARN LIMITED 2014

CARDING
Carding is a mechanical process that cleans fibers to produce a continuous web suitable
for subsequent processing. The word is derived from the Latin carduus meaning teasel,
can be passed on to other processes that are specific to the desired end use of the fibre:
Cotton and yarn. Card clothing is made from a sturdy flexible backing in which closely
spaced wire pins are embedded. Carding machines are known as cards. Fibre may be
carded by hand for hand spinning.

CARDING
COMBING
Combing is a method for preparing carded fiber for spinning. The combing process is
carried out in order to improve the quality of the sliver coming out of the card. The
combing process is essentially aimed at obtaining excellent quality yarns. After carding
process combing is done simultaneously to produce combed yarn. Combing process is
done to upgrade the quality of the raw materials. Combing is done by the comber. It
improves the smoothness of the yarn. Combed yarn is generally used for produce knitted
woven fabrics. Fineness of the fabric depends on the properties of the yarn. Better quality
yarn can give better knitting or weaving efficiency.

Page 12

SHIVA TEXYARN LIMITED 2014

SIMPLEX
In yarn manufacturing system, simplex frame is situated after the comber. Simplex is
essential for the production of cotton yarn. Simplex frame plays an important role in the
spinning process. Various types of yarn faults could be appear for the wrong drafting or
twisting. For this reason, the operator should be careful during the process.

RING SPINNING
Ring spinning is a method of spinning fibres, such as cotton or wool, to make a yarn. A
spinning system in which twist is inserted in a yarn by using a revolving traveller is
known as Ring spinning. Various techniques are available for collecting and twisting the
fibres into a yarn, the most noteworthy being rotor spinning and friction spinning. A
method of open-end spinning which uses a rotor (a high-speed centrifuge) to collect
individual fibres into a yarn is known as Rotor spinning. A method of open-end spinning
which uses the external surface of two rotating rollers to collect and twist individual
fibres into a yarn is known as Friction spinning.

WINDING
In spinning process; winding are the last steps. After winding yarn packages are used
knitted fabrics. Winding process can be defined as the transfer of spinning yarn from one
package to another large package. A process of accumulating yarn on a package to
facilitate the next process is called as winding. Winding process is used to improve the
quality of yarn.

WINDING

Page 13

SHIVA TEXYARN LIMITED 2014

WARPING
The yarn that is inserted over-and-under the warp thread is called the weft.
Each individual warp thread in a fabric is called a warp end or end. The entire process of
weaving and warp yarn must be strong. With the improvements in spinning technology
during the Industrial Revolution, it became possible to make cotton yarn of sufficient
strength to be used as the warp in mechanized weaving. In warp-faced weavings, the
design for the textile is in the warp, and so all colors must be decided upon and placed
during the first part of the weaving process and cannot be changed.

SIZING
Sizing is used during paper manufacture to reduce the paper's tendency when dry to
absorb liquid, with the goal of allowing inks and paints to remain on the surface of the
paper and to dry there, rather than be absorbed into the paper. Sizing of the warp yarn is
essential to reduce breakage of the yarn and thus production stops on the weaving
machine. The sizing liquor is applied on warp yarn with a warp sizing machine. After the
weaving process the fabric is desized.

WEAVING
Weaving is the last step to stretch the warp, or longitudinal, yarns, which must be very
strong. Weaving is a method of fabric production in which two distinct sets of yarns or
threads.

CASE STUDY:
Problem faced in Raw Materials in textile industry and the way of rectified. The one of
the largest textile industry in Coimbatore and the unit situated in Coimbatore. They are
the manufactures of cotton yarn and polyester yarn. Generally they used to spin only
cotton yarn with the raw materials of cotton. But to expand their market feasibility they
have decided to manufacture polyester yarn also.
As soon as they decided they have purchased polyester fiber from their supplier and
allocated the required machineries in the same unit adjacent to the cotton yarn processing
machines. As expected is that they have got good enough production in both cotton and
polyester yarn. But when they sold the same to their buyers, they have received quality
complaints from them, when they dyed it for garment immediately they have visited their
processing unit with their technical persons and they have found that polyester fiber flies
are mixed up in cotton yarn. Due to this they were unable to color the fabric evenly as
they required. The polyester fibers glittered here and there and it does not observed the
applied color.

SOLUTION FOR THE PROBLEM:

As soon as they noticed the problem, all of their technical staff immediately conducted a
meeting and addressed the issue. In that meeting after a long discussion, everyone has
come up with different solutions to sort out the problem. Finally they came to the
conclusion with the one of the solution given by senior staff is that polyester flies are to
be arrested immediately and not let to coat over the cotton machineries. Everybody were
accepted and taken up this solution to the management for their approval. The
management also appreciated the decision and permitted us to make the full petition
between the cotton and polyester machines.

RESULT:
Their decision has become fruitful and their customer problem was solved. Their timely
taken decision has rectified the buyers complaint and has improved their business.

Data has been assembled on the

variables of interest and regression
analysis has been used to see the
quantitative effect of the independent
variables upon the dependent variables.
The study also typically assesses the
statistical significance at 5 percent
level of the estimated relationships, that
is, the degree of confidence that the true
relationship is close to the estimated
relationship.

The

sum

of

squared

deviations about the regression line is a

measure of the extent to which the
