INTRODUCTION
The iron is the small appliance used to remove wrinkles from fabric. It is also known as a clothes
iron, flat iron, or smoothing iron. The piece at the bottom is called a sole plate. Ironing uses heat
energy, chemical energy, electrical energy, and mechanical energy.
Most ironing is done on an ironing board, a small, portable, foldable table with a heat resistant
surface. Some commercial-grade ironing boards incorporate a heating element and a pedaloperated vacuum to pull air through the board and dry the garment.
On 16 February 1858 W. Vandenburg and J. Harvey patented an ironing table that facilitated
pressing sleeves and pant legs. A truly portable folding ironing board was first patented in Canada
in 1875 by John B. Porter. The invention also included a removable press board used for
sleeves. In 1892 Sarah Boone obtained a patent in the United States for improvements to the
ironing board, allowing for better quality ironing for shirt sleeves.
An ironing board has become a need for the person who is studying nor working. We need it in
order to be in proper entire as we should be in proper entire. The existing ironing boards needed
much space in keeping them. Minimizing the space needed to store the ironing board will solve
the problem.

PROBLEM STATEMENT
1. Size. If possible, choose the widest ironing board that you can find for more effective ironing.
2. Height. Most people prefer to do their ironing while standing up. Standing up for a long time,
however could result to back strain.
3. Mobility. Another thing to consider when choosing an ironing board is the available space in
your home.
4. Weight. Choose an ironing board that is lightweight - one that not only sets up easily for use
but also folds down for storage with ease.
5. Sturdiness. While a good ironing board is that which is lightweight, it should also have a sturdy
frame that is stable enough so that it will not collapse or tip over easily as you do your ironing.
6. Adjustability. We have given the recommended ironing board height for people who prefer
to stand up while ironing.
7. The board pad. A good ironing board pad is one that has vent 'holes' in the surface for the
steam to penetrate and escape.
8. Burnings. Another problem is the risk of burning yourself or the clothes when not being
careful.
9. Cooling. An addition problem is that when finished ironing you have to leave the flatiron out
to cool and be careful to place it somewhere where it does not set the house on fire or
somebody accidently burns himself.
10. Smell. A different problem that came up is that cream based deodorants leave a smell on
shirts and t-shirts even after washing them.
11. Aesthetic. Not attractive from display and dont comfort the eye.
12. Take some space. Iron board too tall.
13. Bend at the end of the board.
14. Iron board cloth. We need to change if it broken.
15. Rusty. Exposure to the surrounding area.
16. Their support easily broken due the material.
17. Board weak with water due the material of board composite board.
18. The strength of the board low. Cant support heavy cloth.

19. Unstable. Easily to fall if dont careful during the ironing.

20. Too tall. Not easy to move
21. The cover easily burn
22. The leg of ironing board always shaking when we iron the cloth
23. The board is too long
24. The leg of ironing board does not have high strength. Easy to bent
25. Cannot be carry when going out for example for holiday
3 MAIN PROBLEM
1. User need much space to storing it
2. Normal iron board cant be adjustable for user who want to iron while stand or sit down
3. User have some problem when going out for holiday but need to carry the ironing board

PROBLEM STATEMENT

Typical problem faced by the ironing board user is needed much space in storing it. Some houses
that have area that small have problems to keep ironing board. For someone that emphasize with
tidiness, they will be having problem to iron clothes when they are going for holiday. They
definitely wanted an ironing board that portable and easy to be kept.
Some people have problems to rub clothes while standing or sitting. Some of us want to iron
garments while standing and the other some want to iron garments while sitting. Depending on
our comfort. Ironing that sold in market only sell the type than stand highly and sit separately. If
we buy both type of the ironing board with respective to our comfort, we will experience problem
in keeping the ironing boards that needed much space at home. Wasting of money to buy both
type of ironing board will be one of the problems faced by user.
This problem often happens when we dont feel comfort ironing the clothes with current ironing
board. Especially for housewives that have to iron clothes for their children and husband. The
existing ironing boards are comfortless to the people that are not capable to be standing for a
long time.
