API MonogramToday, nearly 4200 companies in 78 countries are licensed to use the API Monogram
mark on their products. These companies range from small, entrepreneurial firms to
large, multinational corporations, supplying the oil and natural gas industry with products
it needs to get the job done right.
API Monogram licensees are committed to modern quality management systems
compliant with APIs industry-leading quality management standard, API Spec Q1. API
Spec Q1 meets all of the ISO 9001 requirements plus additional elements deemed
valuable by the oil and natural gas industry. In addition, all API Monogram licensees
must have the technical capability to meet one or more API product specifications at the
site applying for API recognition. ALL Monogram licensees are audited by the API prior
to receiving the right to use the Monogram mark on products.
The API Monogram mark on products is a warranty by API Monogram licensees to the
API and its purchasers that the marked products comply in every aspect with the
applicable API product specification in effect at the time of manufacture.
API identifies all Monogram licensees on the API Composite List website. Here, you
may search for companies by company name, by Monogram license number, by product,
and by country.

ISO 9001Global demands and an increasingly competitive business environment in the oil and
natural gas industry have created new measures by which organizations must demonstrate
their abilities. Thats where the APIQR can help. APIQR can register your company to
ISO 9001 simply and conveniently.

API Spec Q1Based on APIs Spec Q1, Specification for Quality Programs, companies that either
manufacture products to API specifications, or provide industry services not covered by
an API standard, can apply for API Spec Q1 Registration. By meeting the quality system
requirements of API Spec Q1, companies can show their customers they meet the
industrys demands by becoming an API Spec Q1 Registered Organization.

API Spec Q2API Spec Q2 is the first international quality management system standard for service
supply organizations offered by the American Petroleum Institute. Published in
December 2011, API Spec Q2, Specification for Quality Management System

Requirements for Service Supply Organizations for Petroleum and Natural Gas
Industries outlines fundamental quality management system requirements that are critical
to upstream operations. The industry-written specification applies to critical activities
such as well construction, intervention, production, abandonment, well servicing,
equipment repair and maintenance, and inspection activities.
Service supply organizations will implement the requirements of API Spec Q2
throughout their quality management systems, creating a larger, more qualified service
supply base. Compliant service supply organizations will boast superior quality
management systems that control all operational processes, provide consistent results,
manage change effectively, continually improve, reduce operational downtime, and
increase customer satisfaction.
A known leader in management system certification, API offers organizations the
opportunity to show the world they take quality seriously.

ISO 14001A clean environment is important to everyone. And the oil and natural gas industry is

to offer environmental management system registration to ISO 14001. Our two-phased
audit approach by experienced professionals provides an efficient and cost-effective

employees are safe and your business continues. API offers management system

Certification Process

Get A Quote from API or contact us at quote@api.org. API will send a quotation and an
application package.
Organizations applying for licensing under the API Monogram Program must develop
and maintain a quality manual that describes their quality management system and how it
conforms to the requirements of API Spec Q1. Organizations participating in the API
Monogram Program must also demonstrate continued ability to meet the technical
requirements identified in the applicable API product specification(s).
Organizations applying only for ISO 9001 Registration must have quality manuals and
quality management systems that conform with the ISO 9001 standard. Companies
applying for API Spec Q1 Registration must have quality manuals and quality
management systems in conformance with API Spec Q1. Companies applying for API
Spec Q2 Registration must have quality manuals and quality management systems in
conformance with API Spec Q2.
Companies applying for ISO 14001 Registration are not required to develop or maintain
a manual but must have environmental management systems that conform with the ISO
14001 standard.
Companies applying for OHSAS 18001 Registration are not required to develop or
maintain a manual but must have OHS management systems that conform with
the OHSAS 18001 standard.
Prior to submitting an application to API, organizations must have had a quality
management system in place for at least four months. This includes performing and
documenting an internal audit and management review in accordance with the applicable
standard.
Submit the completed application forms, application fee, and the quality manual (if
applicable), and the API Spec Q1, 9th Edition Conformity Matrix and/or the API Spec
Q2 Conformity Matrix. The quality manual must be written in English.
API will review the application forms and the quality manual (if applicable) for
conformance with program requirements and applicability of desired scope of
certification. Should application forms be incomplete, and/or should the quality manual
be out of conformance with requirements, API will provide comments.
For those applying for an API Monogram license, once the application package,
the quality manual and the API Spec Q1, 9th Edition Conformity Matrix are accepted,
API will schedule an on-site audit. Audits include verifying the organizations
conformance with API Spec Q1 and any applicable API product specification. The audit
costs are at the organization's expense.
Those applying for certification to ISO 9001, API Spec Q1, API Spec Q2, ISO 14001
and/or OHSAS 18001 may undergo a Stage 1 audit, once the application package and
quality manual are accepted. Stage 1 audits are normally performed on-site and require
organizations to provide the auditor with documents for review. These documents may
include procedures, control features, internal audit reports, management review records,
staff responsibilities and facility layout. Once the Stage 1 audit has been successfully
completed, API and the assigned auditor will schedule a Stage 2 audit. These audit costs
are at the organization's expense.

Stage 2 audits are performed on-site and include verifying the organizations
conformance with API Spec Q1, API Spec Q2, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS
18001.
API will make the certification decision on the basis of an evaluation of the audit findings
and conclusions, and evidence of effective implementation of corrective actions by the
organization (if required)*.
Organizations licensed under the API Monogram Program will have audits scheduled
every three years to ensure continued conformance with the applicable program
requirements.
Organizations registered under API Spec Q1, API Spec Q2, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and
OHSAS 18001 will have a full system audit every year to ensure continued conformance
with the applicable program requirements.

Complaints

one way to improve our processes. Complaints against API or its clients may be
transmitted to any API employee by letter, email, fax, phone or in person. The API

require further investigation, API will initiate its corrective action process to address the
complaint.
