ONNALEE BLANK SOUND DESIGNER / RE-RECORDING MIXER
Since Onnalee can remember, she has always loved sound and how it can influence her
mood and thinking. From a young age, she began to express her love for sound through
dance. Growing up in Portland Oregon and training 6 days a week with the Oregon
Ballet Theater defiantly inspired her to be who she is today. Onnalee started dancing
professional roles at the age of 13 and traveled all over the country to dance with
various companies starting when she was 15 years old. Due to a car accident at 20, her
professional career came to a screeching halt. This devastating experience forced
Onnalee to open up her eyes to other possibilities in life other than dance. She then
decided to pursue her next passion, and packed up her car and moved to Los Angeles to
study audio engineering. Since school, Onnalee has worked with such talents as Rick
Rubin, Johnny Cash, System of a Down, Jay-Z, Jimmy Gnecco (OURS), Red Hot Chilli
Peppers, and Shakira. Onnalee went on to work with Oscar nominated composer, Danny
Elfman. CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY and CORPSE BRIDE are just a few of
the projects she worked with Elfman. For five years now Onnalee has been working for

PRODUCTION NOTES
The director, Maria White, volunteered for the Sundance Film Festival in 2001 & 2002
(along with her husband and producing partner, Matthew Mebane) dreaming of
becoming a filmmaker one day. Her experience at Sundance was inspiring, life changing.
Having a film screen at this years festival is such an honor and dream come true for
Maria. For THE DEBUTANTE HUNTERS collaborated for the third time with her husband
and producing partner and for the first time with her close friend of many years,
passionate hunter, hair stylist, mother of two and southern debutante, Kristy Olson
Cuthbert, to make The Debutante Hunters, the short documentary after being moved by
Kristys love for hunting. Maria was drawn to filming this subject and meeting more
female hunters when realizing there was a whole other side to hunting she was unaware
of. Maria made The Debutante Hunters in part through an Indie grant awarded by the
South Carolina Film Commissions Indie Grants program, independent fundraising
through Kickstarter and fiscal sponsorship provided by Los Angeles based, Filmmakers
Alliance. Director was pregnant during pre-production, production and post-production
and completed the film just weeks before her son was born. She was determined to get
her film completed during this time window (baby was an excellent source of
motivation---inspiration!) The Debutante Hunters is a proud product of the South
Carolina Film Commission's INDIE GRANT program, where South Carolina filmmakers
receive production grants and other support to make their short films. The selected
projects use Trident Technical College film students as crew, providing hands-on training
for these future production professionals, while also supporting indigenous South
Carolina filmmaking and producing short films that showcase the state's rich cultural,
historical, and geographic fabric. For more information on the INDIE GRANTS, visit
