Statement of Scope for the Annotated Bibliography
The future is definitely terrifying for those who dont know what is coming. The future is
some mysterious place that we wont know were there until we grow older and find a routinely
process that we hardly even like. Our future is in our very hands and yet some of us dont know
how to control it judging how a large percentage of Americans dont like their career choice
when they are older. How could we know what we want to do for the rest of our lives when we
hardly know who we are at such a young age? Although some people might not care and live like
theres no tomorrow every day, they should focus on their career plan to get rid of the dreaded
pressure of rushing a job choice.
This essay will explore how students must focus on their future plans if they want to
succeed, more importantly be content with their choice of career. Students must learn to
prioritize while in high school in order to find themselves and what they're interested in. This
would be accomplished by using sources to advantage such as academic advisors or counselors. I
will examine how someone could focus on their future career rather than getting caught up and
distracted. I will also examine how it is a child's individual decision on what to do for their future
rather than parents having too much say in it. This would clearly relieve some pressure from the
already the overwhelming pressure of having to decide the rest of your life at a young age.
This selected bibliography includes sources that involve tips and examples of how to
focus on your career plan. Most try to persuade the reader to find himself and make their own
individual decision for their future. Tashaya, Apata, the author of What Should Be When I
Grow Up, and Ellis all try to get their point across that a plan has to be made starting in
highschool and to avoid overbearing parents in order to avoid future stress. The Steele essay
provides that the job market is extremely competitive and therefore students have to prioritize
and do something they like. All of these essays contribute to the point that students must
prioritize their future in order to be successful and happy.
