CodePlus SERIES MODULAR SYSTEM

A typical Cable transcoder CodePlus series
modular system consists of an HCS6100R
rack-mountable card frame that provides an
enclosure for a series of processor cards.
One to twelve of the HCS6600 CodePlus HD
transcoder cards inserted into this frame, when
combined with a suitable Cable TV set-topbox, will provide one to twelve channels of HD
Cable TV content (one card per channel).
An HCS6300 CodePlus mod/mux/controller
card, when used with the previous models
mentioned, will represent an up to 4-channel/8stream HDTV solution for commercial and
institutional MATV systems (hotels, hospitals, etc.).
Four additional card slots are available if
external mux/mod product is used.

THIS SYSTEM WITH THE COMBINED ELEMENTS CAN:

Receive a selected HD channel from a Digital Cable Service
Transcode the received digital video and audio streams to
ATSC A/53E compliant transport stream, or MPEG-4 Part 10
NAL layer Encapsulated in MPEG-2 Transport Stream
Encrypt the received digital data stream
Multiplex the encrypted streams onto 4 streams of 2
programs each
Modulate and upconvert the Muxed streams in 4 contiguous
256 QAM RF channels

THE CodePlus SERIES CABLE TRANSCODER SYSTEM OFFERS A MULTIPLE-CHANNEL HDTV SOLUTION FOR
COMMERCIAL AND INSTITUTIONAL HOSPITALITY CATV SYSTEMS (HOTELS, HOSPITALS, ETC.).
A TYPICAL CABLE TRANSCODER SYSTEM INCLUDES:

CodePlus SERIES SYSTEM WITH PRO:IDIOM

Digital HD Cable STB with IEEE 1394 output for each HD

program offered in the hotel facility (purchased separately)

The HCS6600 changes the Digital Cable encryption

scheme to a Pro:Idiom encryption scheme. A proper
session ID must be set at the TV in order for Pro:Idiom
decryption to be enabled. Zenith/LGs PPV providers can
properly set up this session through their interface.
Zenith/LG has a free-to-guest cards (HCS1410 , LMT7Z7,
or LMT7Z9) which can be substituted for the supplied MPI
(Multiple Protocol Interface) card which can set the session
to allow decryption.

CHECKLIST FOR PROVIDING PRO:IDIOM HD CONTENT TO YOUR GUESTS

Validate that you have an appropriate Pro:Idiom license**

connected to an HCS6600

Determine the number of programs required for your

Tune each HCS6600 to the appropriate HD channel

system and the channel lineup on the RF cable system

(One HCS6600 is required for each Digital HD
program)

on Digital Cable (STB composite video port is useful

for the initial configuration)

Verify that the corresponding modulator and up-

converter have been purchased from an authorized

third party vendor

Obtain a Digital Cable HD STB from your MSO

Install the HCS6600 into the head-end along with the

QAM modulator and up-converter for each channel

Activate your Digital Cable subscription for each STB

To verify MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 compatibility of LG television

models, go to www.LGcommercial.com/products and

select the television category. Select the television
model for review and download the spec sheet for
verification. (If another TV vendor is used, verify
compatibility with them).

Verify installation and configuration of FTG card in

each television for the desired channel line-up
