Title: GSM 2G Equipment Demonstration in lab (if available) or by field visit


to (BTS, BSC, MSC).

3.2

Objective: On completion of this exercise, the participant will be able to:


a)

Identify various Network Elements/ Nodes in 2G GSM Network.

b) Explain the functions of these Nodes


c)

Explain about the connectivity between the Network Elements.

d) Know about routine working like alarm monitoring, backups etc.


3.3

Venue/ Site: Lab/Site location/ Flex diagram room

3.4

Setup/Equipments Required:
Participant has to visit the 2G GSM MSC location or a Lab in Training Centre
or should see the flex diagram available at training location.

3.5 Reports to be taken/ referred:


Network connectivity, equipment available to be noted, daily alarm logs of
recent past preferably of last 2-3 days if available
3.6 Exercise:
3.6.1 Write down the name of various units of a GSM System and complete the
diagram either by seeing at site or in flex diagram.
