Salary Guide 2013

Poland
reedglobal.pl

Market Overview

A well-educated local workforce and favourable business

rates ensures Poland continues to be seen by large
corporates as an excellent country in which to locate
international service centres that focus on providing
technical and sales support, or purely customer service.
The same is also true for business process outsourcing
(BPO) organisations, which look to supplement the local
talent pool with skilled international candidates, particularly
multi-lingual individuals with experience in customer
service and technical support.

A partnership approach

The continuing tough trading conditions are leading many

organisations to work more closely with their resourcing
solution partners, to explore how they can make the
overall recruitment programme more effective. For some,
this may mean adopting a search approach for certain
hard-to-fill roles, while for others it could be pursuing an
RPO strategy for volume recruitment projects.

The Polish economy continues to recover, albeit slowly, growing by

between 1 and 2 per cent in 2012 - with a similar increase expected for
2013. Competition for inward investment by foreign corporates is high,
with countries such as Hungary and the Czech Republic also trying to
attract many of the same organisations.
Against a backdrop of continuing challenging conditions, employers in
Poland are searching for increased efficiencies and exploring how they
can improve the returns they derive from their human capital.
In this environment, enlightened HR professionals can cement their
value to a business by implementing innovative resourcing solutions
that make a positive impact on the bottom line.

For many businesses, the greatest impact is made by

experienced individuals with specific expertise in critical
areas. However, finding these hard to locate mid and
senior level people and then bringing them into a business
requires detailed sector knowledge, unrivalled recruitment
expertise, a search approach and access to a wide pool
of talented individuals: a combination of factors rarely
found outside of an established resourcing solutions
agency.

We also expect the temps market to remain near the

10 per cent level, with employers aware of the need to
retain as much flexibility as is reasonably possible in terms
of resourcing.

What next?

In these continued tough trading conditions, it is

impossible to overstate the importance of recruiting and
retaining the very best available talent.
If you think your business might be able to benefit from
additional resourcing experience and expertise, then
speak to the resourcing experts here at REED to find out
how they could help you deliver your recruitment and
retention plans in Poland.
However, if it is specific market intelligence that you
would like, or simply an insight into candidate availability
or current market rates, then we would be happy to help
there too.
Similarly, if you anticipate making an executive or senior
management appointment in the coming months, we
have the recruitment expertise, contacts and capacity
to help you bring in the best available talent to help drive
your business forward.
We look forward to hearing from you.

Recruitment trends

With unemployment expected to remain fairly high, online

job advertisements are unlikely to be the best approach
for many vacancies, as they will attract high numbers
of applications - many of which are likely to come from
increasingly anxious job seekers who do not possess the
skills and/or experience required.
Outsourcing will be another growth area, with an
increasing number of employers choosing to outsource
certain business processes in order to secure
performance improvements and cost efficiencies.
A more strategic approach will yield the best results,
with recruitment agencies tailoring how they work with
employers in order to deliver suitably talented candidates
in the most timely and cost-effective manner.

Accounting & Finance

Engineering

Experienced finance professionals, particularly the financial directors, general ledger workers and
specialist accountants, are expected to be in greatest demand over the next 12 months. In contrast,
bank-based roles are unlikely to feature strongly on the recruitment charts in 2013, after the sector
consolidated in 2012 after the huge growth in recent years.

Significant investment in new power plants has turned the expanding Energy & Resources sector
into the one that has the loudest call on engineering talent. Maintenance engineers and technicians
are also in demand, as are Research and Development specialists and engineers with Consumer
Electronics and Aviation experience. In contrast, opportunities for engineers within the Automotive,
Construction and Production industries are set to fall over the coming 12 months.

As well as core technical skills, senior finance professionals are increasingly being evaluated for
their influencing and reasoning skills, credibility and assertiveness, as prospective employers look
to bring in recruits who can add extra value to their business.

Multilingual Shared Service Centres (SSCs)

Accounting & Finance, Customer Service, IT and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) are the main
sectors served by the high number of SSCs in Poland.
IT support staff with English and an additional European language are in strong demand, especially
those with experience in SAP, Unix, Linux, IFRS, US GAAP and SOX. The language skills which
are in most demand are French, German, Portuguese and Spanish, with Dutch and the Nordic
languages close behind.

Sales & Marketing

Sales engineers with strong track records of success whether as Key Account Managers or in
New Business Acquisition roles and experience in one or more of the automotive, consumer
electronics and heating, ventilation and air conditioning continue to be in high demand.
Marketing continues to grow in stature and size, especially in the online and social media
environments. However, the rapid rate at which marketing in the social media is expanding makes
it inevitable that there is a marked shortage of proven specialists.

Typically there are approximately 100 SSC roles open every week, with recruiters often having to
broaden their search for candidates into other countries.

Technology

Companies within the mobile solutions, social networking and data processing sectors are
expected to strengthen their in-house IT teams in 2013. Software developers will be in highest
demand, followed by telecoms specialists, administration solutions experts and business
intelligence experts.
IT consultancies, however, will look to bring in technical and account management talent,
particularly candidates with experience of developing, delivering or project-managing HR, finance
and procurement technology solutions. There will also be an emphasis on soft skills - such as
analytical, creative and teamwork skills in addition to technical prowess.
