Introduction

One must design, develop, and build a marketing plan tailored for use at a Board of Education
meeting for MASTs second research vessel. Anyone must be able to pitch the marketing proposal with
prior knowledge to the event. The marketing proposal must secure funds for a second research vessel for
MAST. The marketing plan must align with MAST values. The marketing plan must use the technology
available at the Board of Education meeting. The marketing plan must use convincing statistics. The
marketing plan must convince the Board of Education to approve funding for a second research vessel.
The developmental work for the marketing plan of the R/V Ocean Breeze is composed of the
outline of the four aspects of the marketing plan. The PowerPoint is tentatively composed of twenty-six
slides, with each slides criteria developed. The speech outline criterion is currently developed. The
written proposal outline criterion is currently developed. The general information template is currently
developed. The completed versions of these four aspects will be used for Mr. Moores use in his Board of
Education proposal for the R/V Ocean Breeze. The plan of procedures entails the possibilities of use of
the marketing plan product after completion.
1. Stage 1: Design Presentation

2. Stage 2: Design Criticism and Revision

Tools and Equipment: Pencil, paper, computer, Microsoft Office, printer paper, and

Procedures:
1. Have Mr. Moore view marketing proposal PowerPoint, speech, written proposal,
and general information.

Receive input for revising from Mr. Moore on marketing proposal PowerPoint,
speech, written proposal, and general information through verbal communication
or a set of surveys (see examples at end of procedures).

3. Open up marketing proposal PowerPoint with computer


4. Revise proposal to meet Mr. Moores requests.
5. Open up marketing proposal speech outline with computer
6. Revise proposal to meet Mr. Moores requests.

7. Open up written proposal with computer


8. Revise proposal to meet Mr. Moores requests

12. Revise and repeat stage three until Mr. Moore is satisfied with proposal.
3. Stage 3: Consumer Product Use

Testing Procedures:
1. Gather all materials
2. Open Microsoft Word on computer
3. Use Microsoft Word to open general information about the marketing plan
4. Print out general information regarding proposal to handout to Board members.
5. Use Microsoft Word to open written proposal
6. Print out written proposal to handout to Board members.
7. Open Power Point file for the marketing proposal
8. Turn on presentation full screen mode for the PowerPoint file
9. Connect the projector to the computer
10. Turn on projector
11. Use the projector to project the PowerPoint onto the projector screen
12. Handout general information and written proposal to each Board member
13. Turn on microphone and speakers if present
14. Give a speech presentation requesting the approval for the purchase of a second
research vessel.

15. Aid presentation with PowerPoint slides, general information handouts, and
written proposal.
16. Conclude presentation

4. Stage 4: Response to Board of Education Ruling

Procedures:
1. Describe any unexpected mishaps in the presentation
2. Describe any questions during presentation that could not be answered
3. Describe any real-time changes to the presentation and why the changes
occurred.
4. Describe the reasons why the Board of Education denied or approved the
proposal.
5. Record all information in notebook with pencil.
6. If proposal is denied, then use information from stage five procedure five to
revise the proposal. If proposal is approved, then continue to Stage 6.

5. Stage 5: Vessel Construction

Procedures:
1. Obtain marketing plan
2. Extract vessel construction plan from marketing plan
3. Contact vessel manufacturers related to construction bids for the Research
Vessel Ocean Breeze.
4. Choose the best value vessel contractor bid.
5. Contact relevant personnel for transferring funds for purchases of products
listed in the marketing plan.

6. Transfer funds to purchase vessel and all other relevant equipment relating to
the vessel.
7. Upon completion of vessel, use hired vessel captain (Captain Andrews) and
outside safety evaluators to inspect the vessel for quality and accuracy.
8. Use phone to contact New Jersey Coast Guard seaworthiness evaluators and
schedule an evaluation of the Research Vessel Ocean Breeze.
9. Obtain Research Vessel Ocean Breezes seaworthiness decision.

If approved for New Jersey marine use, then obtain three bids listed from

local marinas for the vessel. If denied for New Jersey marine use, then
contact relevant contractors and correct the issues that resulted in the denied
request. If denied, then repeat Stage 6 Procedures 7-9 until approved.

Rent slip in lowest priced marina in the local area using the available

vessel funds.

Harbor the research vessel in the rented boat slip using the vessel

captain.
6. Stage 6: Vessel Implementation and Curriculum Design

Procedures:
1. Obtain Ocean Breeze marketing plan
2. Identify in marketing plan all proposed curriculum changes
3. Obtain phone
4. Obtain phone numbers for the MCVSD Assistant Superintendent, MCVSD
Director of Pupil Personnel, MCVSD Superintendent, MCVSD Supervisor of
Curriculum and Instruction, MCVSD Curriculum Coordinator, and all other
relevant MCVSD curriculum management personnel.

5. Use the cell phone to call the phone numbers for the listed MCVSD
administration members in Stage 7 Procedure 5 and request meetings for the
curriculum changes as described in the marketing package.
6. Attend curriculum revision meetings and request curriculum change as
described in the marketing plan relating to the Ocean Breeze vessel.
7. Obtain response on approval or denial of curriculum change.
8. If denied, then revise curriculum change and repeat Stage 7 Procedures 3-7
until approved.
9. If approved, then implement the Ocean Breeze vessel into MAST student
activities.
