y - Strainers
Y - Strainers are simple and economical method
of protecting vital pipeline and process equipments.
In addition to basic material of construction, We offer in
special metals such as monel, Inconel, Hastalloy,Duplex
stainless steel, Aluminium Bronze and other alloy steel.
End connections are flanged and screwed, to international
Standards including ANSI, BS10, BS4504, DIN and API, NPT
BSP respectively.
Screwed ends, Socket ends, Butt weld ends and Flanged
ends are available.

Basket Strainers
Use of Basket stranier provide simple and efficient method
of protecting pipeline equipments and reducing expensive
plant Maintenance.
Hydrotherms provide complete range of Basket strainers
in variety of designs (inline/offline), Sizes, materials and
degrees of filtration.
Correct selection of strainer and element will provide
protection for your valves, Pumps, compressors, Spray
Nozzles, heat exchangers and flow metres.
Advantages include positive rentention of debris, Simple
installation and minimal pressure drop.
Steam jacketing is available for fabricated strainers.

Duplex Strainer
Duplex Strainers are used for continuous operation where
system flow cannot be shut down for basket cleaning or
change out .
Skid bases and frame works are available.
Actuated changeover available.
Used for fuel oil in industrial or Marine burners, lubricating
lines on board ships, Cooling towers, industrial water intake
and service lines.
Pressure drop is higher, than through the equivalent size
single basket strainer as the flow path is circuitous.
Dual strainers are used where Ytype and Basket type is
prohibited by the necessity for continous flow.

Tee Strainer
Tee strainer take their name from their geometric configuration,
used where water quality is good and pressure drop is critical.

Tee strainers are com pact, important in application where

space is restricted
Tee strainer can be used both vertical or horizontal
installations
The convoluted strainer screen and unrestricted flow path
results in very low pressure loss, ideal for the application
in condensate and boiler feed pump suction.

Temporary Strainers
Temporary strainers are very low cost , temporarily
installed in a pipeline to remove debris from fluids.
Temporary strainer is used for piping start-up
application only.
Temporary strainers are installed between flanges
without any modification to pipeline and without the
need for special spool pieces.
Temporary strainers are used in systems where soild
contaminants are not thought prevalent but protection
of piping system components is desirable none the less.

Sanitary Strainers
Sanitary strainers is utilized in the food and beverage industry
to remove impurities from the liquid stream.
The wellscreen design is durable and can handle high
differential pressure without failure.
Interior are bead blasted and passivated, exterior
electropolished to eliminates possible contamination.
Housings are customized as per the requirements.
Inlet and outlets are available in triclamps and flanges.

Self Cleaning strainer

The Hydrotherms motorized, automatic, self - cleaning strainer

provides continuous debris removal from fluid piping systems
that demand full time uninterrupted flow.
Operation
Debris laden fluid enters through inlet to inner chamber(Fig. 1)
Dirty fluid flows upward and outward through the strainer element(A)
Debris is retained on the flat face of the strainer element , while
strained fluid continues to outer chamber and exists through
strainer outlet.
During backwash or cleaning cycle, the motor / gear reducer (B)
is engaged and drives the hollow drive shaft (C) and hallow port (D)
around the inner circumference of the strainer element.
The back wash assembly (E) is opened to the atmospheric pressure
by opening the backwash control valve
Flow reversal occurs at the port / straining element (F) interface
because of the pressure differential in 5.
Debris is effectively vacuumed from the full length of the straining
element by a vigorous reverse fluid flow and into the hollow port;
down the hollow drive shaft and out the backwash outlet (G).
The hollow port continous to sweep the full length of the strainer
element until the cleaning cycle has ended.
The strainer will provide continuous uninterrupted fluid flow during
the cleaning operation.
The cleaning cycle can be set for continuous or intermittent.

Applications
Automatic self cleaning strainers are used nearly every industry to strain
fresh, brackish or salt intake water for plant services such as cooling process,
fire protection, etc. They allow water to be recycled within the plant.
Process Industry: Protect heat exchangers, Pumps, Valves, and water
spray nozzles.
Power Industry: Protect heat exchangers, pump seal water, and travelling
screen wash water.
Pulp and Paper: Removing fibres from white water filtrate to prevent
clogging of nozzles. Separate bark and chips for recycling
Sewage / Waste and water: Straining secondary effluent prior to discharge,
and also providing clean plant service water.
Primary Metal Industry: Provide clean water for quenching, descaling and
blast furnace cooling.
