Holmdel couple looks beyond their pain


to help needy children during holidays

eventy-eight days have passed since one of Tim McDonnells two sons was hit by a car and
critically injured in New Brunswick, but on Sunday he took a break from his sons bedside
to bring some happiness to families at the McLaughlin Pentecostal Faith Church. Each day,

the 56-year-old McDonnell and his wife Clare of Holmdel take turns sitting by the hospital bed of

their 20-year-old son Tim, a junior at Rutgers who suffered a traumatic brain injury in October
when he was hit by a car while crossing Easton Avenue. Sunday afternoon, the couple took a short
break to come to the Long Branch church to continue a family tradition of distributing gifts and

A Tinton Falls man was arrested in connection with


alleged threats made about police on social media, referencing the slaying of two New York police officers.
Police said a threatening and profane statement on
Facebook led to the arrest of Matthew Reardon, 29,
Monday.
The post read Dont wanna get clipped while sitting
in your squad car?? Dont be a (expletives deleted) pig
whos looking to get killed...Everyone who goes out of
their way to (expletive deleted) with other people
should get executed in cold blood.
Before his arrest, Reardon screamed mommy and
what the (expletive deleted) while standing in the
middle of the street, drawing the attention of motorists
and drivers passing by, police said.
