Dear Kings' College Old Boys and Friends,

Floreat!! This is a Plea for assistance for one of our very own. Omowale Bankole Ewarawon.
Most of us boarders know Ewarawon because he was along with Victor Ukah, two of the best football
players of our Set the set of 2000.
Folks who did not know Ewarawon, he is a Warri Boy. A true son of the Niger Delta, he
matriculated at Kings' College Lagos with all of us in 1994 and graduated with all of us in 2000. He
participated in all our traditions including Ikoyi Run, Inter-House Sports, Cricket Matches, Football
Matches and the traditional fence scaling at our Annex Complex.
Folks Ewarawon has fell on some hard times. As most of you know, hard times can fall on any of
us. Nelson Mandela once said that people should not judge him on his successes but on the number of
times he has failed and had to get back up.
Background.
Wale has had a medical condition known as Osteomyelitis.
Osteomyelitis is an infection in a bone. Infections can reach a bone by traveling through the bloodstream
or spreading from nearby tissue. Osteomyelitis can also begin in the bone itself if an injury exposes the
bone to germs.
In children, osteomyelitis most commonly affects the long bones of the legs and upper arm, while
adults are more likely to develop osteomyelitis in the bones that make up the spine (vertebrae). People
who have diabetes may develop osteomyelitis in their feet if they have foot ulcers.
Once considered an incurable condition, osteomyelitis can be successfully treated today. Most
people require surgery to remove parts of the bone that have died followed by strong antibiotics, often
delivered intravenously, typically for at least six weeks.
Wale had surgery at Igbobi Hospital in Lagos and a complication led to the leg being almost
amputated.
Now many of us have assisted Wale in reaching India to fix the complication, he has had six surgeries. He
is preparing for the final surgery.
This final surgery is critical in the survival of Wale's leg. It will involve the use of a novel medical
technique to combine artificial bone matter with Wale's natural bone matter and ensure Wale's leg has the
highest chance of surviving any remaining infection.
Some of us are physicians and health professionals and we know what it means to be under the
knife for at least 6 times. It is gruesome, debilitating, and disheartening to say the least.

Current Status

Wale is currently in critical condition at the Apollo hospital in Bangalore India seeking our help
as his fellow brothers and KC Old Boys and friends. He needs a total of $10,000 to purchase the required
BonAlive material, complete his surgery and make it back home to recuperate.
This is where we come in. The Bible and the Quran are clear that we are supposed to be our
brother's keeper.
See:
Galatians 6:2 "Bear one another's burden, and so fulfill the law of Christ."
Mathew 25:35 "For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a
stranger and you welcomed me."
See: Suratul Imran Quran Chapter 3: 103
"And adhere to the Bond of Allah, together, and do not be divided. And remember the Favor of Allah that
was bestowed upon you: how you were enemies, and how He united your hearts, so that by His Favor you
became brothers. And how He saved you from the Pit of Fire when you were on the brink of it. And so
Allah makes plain to you His verses, in order that you will be guided." (Al-Imran, 103).

What you can do to help.

We can all decide to donate $5 a pieace and you will see that since there are currently at least 3
KCOB Groups containing about 5000 members, that will be more than enough to help get Wale the help
he needs.
We have set up a Fundly page and you can make donations to that page. If you want to know
more about Wale's condition.
