STRENGTH MADE SIMPLE.

InterCem HSb is a new and innovative

cement product designed to provide
superior strength in high sulphate
conditions.
The new InterCem product line, developed by
Lehigh Inland Cement Limited, features a
blended high sulphate resistant (HSb)
cement that results in denser and more
durable concrete. Created at the plant
by intergrinding Class F fly ash and
cement, InterCem HSb reduces
one step for the end user by
eliminating the need to blend
components on site. The result
is a highly consistent product
that is strong, economical
and easy to use.

InterCem HSb QUALITIES

Superior Strength & Durability

Performance under sulphate attack comparable to a HS (T50) cement

Increased 56-day strength over straight cement
Improved resistance to Alkali Aggregate Reactivity (AAR)
Decreased permeability
Reduced shrinkage and thermal cracking

Extremely Convenient

Eliminates the need to site blend cement and fly ash, resulting in a more consistent product
Additional fly ash silo not required
Eliminates the coordination of two material orders

Outstanding Performance

Lower heat of hydration over straight cement

Potential problems such as false set, slump loss and admixture incompatibility, that can result when site blending
supplementary materials with cement, are reduced
Improved workability
InterCem HSb is interground as opposed to blended causing a percentage of the fly ash spheres to fracture,
increasing surface area and performance over a straight blend

STRENGTH MADE SIMPLE.

Tests keeping a constant slump and a constant 300 kg in cementing materials per cubic meter indicates
InterCem performance equals or exceeds the performance of a 80/20 site blend of cement and fly ash.

* InterCem contains 30% (+/- 2.5%) Interground Class F fly ash meeting the requirements of Table 5 of CSA A3001-03
Using a High Sulphate Resistant (HS) cement or Blended High Sulphate Resistant Cement (HSb) is only one ingredient in
producing a durable concrete. End users need to ensure their specific mix designs meet all requirements of
Tables 1 to 4 of CSA A23.1-04 for a given class of exposure.
