Indias Top Ranking Colleges for Management Studies

Changing business scenarios require management professionals who are able to keep up with the
shifting trends. The ability and flexibility to do ones best when businesses are in flux comes through a
well-rounded management education, among other things. The top management colleges in India
are among the best in the world when it comes to imparting quality management education to their
students.
As per a research conducted by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), India has around
3400 approved colleges that offer Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) or Masters in
Business Administration (MBA) courses. There are around 300 colleges affiliated to universities that
offer the same courses. For example, there are some reputed MBA colleges in Mumbai University.
Overall, every year, there are more than four lakh seats available for doing an MBA/PGDM for students
who desire to make a career in management and to professionals who want to take their careers to
the next level.
While choosing the right management college, one needs to consider many factors. Remember, not all
the colleges are approved by governing bodies; taking a course from an unapproved college will not
help you further your career at all since such courses will carry no value in the professional world.
Some parameters need to be considered sacrosanct while considering the management colleges in
India for post graduation. These include faculty quality, infrastructure, course content, placement,

Graduation with at least 50% marks in any discipline is considered to be the basic qualification one
needs before one can apply for an MBA/PGDM course. The cut-off marks for graduation can change
from institute to institute too. One needs to give an entrance test to gain acceptance to an MBA seat
in a reputed college. MBA colleges in Mumbai accept the State entrance test scores too. Many
colleges accept the score of CAT, the Common Admission Test. The better the institute the higher will
be its cutoff score/percentile. Some management institutes offer their own tests, such as XAT, SNAP

etc. Some accept the scores of exams such as GMAT, CET, MAT and CMAT. The entrance test is often
followed by a group discussion/activity and a personal interview.
