Generating TopoMap
0 1. Generating TopoMap
Follow the steps to generate a TopoMap from CSV or Excel file in ESurvey CAD interface.
1. Open E Survey CAD Interface by double clicking on icon available on the desktop
OR
Follow the path: StartProgramsESurveyESurvey CAD
2. Go to File and select New File from the drop down menu

3. Type the name of File and Change the directory or Folder if required.

4. Click on the Save button.

5. Then go to Surface and click on Import Data

6. Select the CSV or Excel file containing following parameters.

7. Select the File and click on Open Button.

8. Once file is selected click on Import Button

9. You will see the screen shown below after the import process is completed. Click
on OK.

10. For Code configuration, go to TopoDraw drop down menu and select the
Configure option

11. Please select the options required and set the required parameters.

12. Click on Save and then Close


13. To view the TopoMap, Go to TopoDraw drop down menu and select the
TopoMap option

14. Click on View button

15. Click on CAD button to export to a cad application


16. To Export the file, select the required option and click on Save.

TopoDraw - Layers

To create different Layers and apply to blocks and remarks, follow these steps
1. Go to TopoDraw Layers

2. Click New button then Type the Layer Name, choose the color if required, then
click on Save button.

03. Settings
To execute Settings and apply blocks to remarks follow the below mentioned steps
1.

Go to TopoDraw TopoMap

2.

Click on View button

Select the Blocks Location and apply to required remark.

5.

Click on Save then Close.

AutoLayers
To set Autolayers
1.

Go to TopoDraw TopoMap

Click on View button

Click on Auto Layers button

You can select the required options such as Remark based Layers, Elevation
based Layers or Block Layers.

Group Layers
To set group layers
1.

Go to TopoMapSettingsGroup Layers

Click on the Apply button and then Close.

05. TopoDraw from CAD
Direct TopoDraw
1.

Go to ESurvey CAD Menu Direct TopoDraw (IMTOPO)

Select the CSV or excel file containing Easting, Northing, Elevation and remarks.

Then Click on Code Display button to set the display of Sl no, X, Y, Z, remarks.
Click on Code Layers button, if you want to set blocks, remark based layers etc.
Now click on Generate button to view the Topomap in CAD.

Join Text Based on Text captions and Distance

To avoid confusion turn on the working Layer based on Remark

TopoDraw from CAD


Go to ESurvey CAD drop down menu TopoDraw Join Text Based on Text captions
and Distance (JTP)

Contour Generation from CAD


01. Contour Generation from CAD
To generate contour from CAD follow these steps:
1. Place all RLs (Levels) in ELEV layer
2. Go to ESurveyCAD Menu in CADContoursContour Settings(CNS)

3. Set all required parameters in contour setting screen.


4. Click Apply Button and Close.

5. Now go to ESurveyCAD Menu Contours Generate Contours (CCON)

Contour Generation from CAD

a. Select Objects: Select all objects required to generate Contours.


b. Do you wish to export Boundary Yes/No: If you have defined boundary
drawn then type Y if it is required automated boundary then type N
c. Click Enter the Contours will be created.

Contour Annotation in CAD


02. Contour Annotation in CAD
Annotation can be applied to contours in CAD by using the below mentioned options:

Use Annotations as per the requirements:


Specified Point (ANNP)

: To annotate contours at a specified point

Mid Point (ANNM)

: To annotate contours at mid point

End Points (ANNE)

: To annotate contours at end points

Given Interval

: To annotate contours at given interval

Fence Selection

: To annotate contours by running a fence line on


selected Contours

Trim around Contour Text (ANNT)

: To trim line around contour text

Interpolate
03. Interpolate
Go to ESurvey CAD Contours Interpolate at Given Point

You can interpolate at any specific point.


Note: RLs should be kept in ELEV layer before using this command.
a. Type Scanning Radius <N>: Give some Scanning radius
b. Select a point: Pick a point where it is required to print the interpolated
value.
c. Select another Point: Continue picking the points it will generate a new
interpolated value.
Example: Result will be like the image shown below.

Delete Specific Layer


04. Delete Specific Layer
This command will erase all entities of Layer, by selecting a single entity.
Go to ESurvey CAD Contours Delete Specific Layer Entities

Select the Layer which has to be deleted and click Enter. The selected layer and its
entities will be deleted from the drawing.

Draw Sections
05. Draw Sections
Draw Section is a quick section generating command.
Draw Section Includes:
A. Section Settings
B. Draw Section
C. Export Section data to Excel
A. Section Settings:
1. Go to ESurvey CAD Contours Draw Section Section Settings

2. Set all required parameters, Click on Save and close.

B. Draw Section
Line should be available as LS and elevation should be kept in ELEV Layer
Go to menu ESurvey CAD Contours Draw Section Draw Section.

Draw Sections
Type the Interval <N>: Type the desired interval of Alignment
Change Points to be Included Y / <N>: If points are required at curve then type Y if not
required they type N
Select the Chainage Line (L Section Line): Select the Alignment line to interpolate the
levels at required intervals.
Pick a Point: Pick a point on the CAD window it will generate a LS drawing for the
selected Alignment.
(Drawing for LS generation may required)
Example:

C. Export Section data to Excel


1. Go to menu ESurvey CAD Contours Draw Section Export Section Data to
Excel

2. Click on Export button and view the Excel file, which contains all the Alignment
distance and elevations in excel format.

06: Contour Generation from ESurvey CAD Interface
1. Open ESurvey CAD Interface by double clicking on the icon available on your
desktop
OR
Follow the path: StartProgramsESurveyESurvey CAD
2. Go to FileNew File

3. Type the name of File and Change the directory or Folder if required.

4. Click on save button.


5. Go to SurfaceImport Data

6. Select the CSV or Excel file containing following parameters.

7. Browse for the File and click on the Open Button.

8. Once file is selected click on Import Button

9. You will get below screen after the import process is completed. Click on OK.

10. Go to Contours menu Contour Map

11. Set all required parameters such as Grid Interval, contour interval, scanning
radius, Grid Elevation, Grid Annotation etc and then click on the button View to
display the generated contours.

12. Click on CAD button to export the generated contours to any specified CAD
software package.

Importing RLs and Boundary from CAD


07. Importing RLs and Boundary from CAD
For generating contours within specified boundary and RLs follow the steps
mentioned below:
1. Export the Elevations (RLs) from AutoCAD by following the path
ESurvey CAD Contours Export Elevations (EXELEV)

a. Select Elevation Texts: Select RLs


b. Select objects: Select all elevations need to export to ESurvey CAD
interface.
2. Export the boundary from AutoCAD having closed polyline.
Path: ESurvey CAD Contours Export Boundary (EXPB)

3. Select the closed polyline drawn as boundary for RLs.(Elevations)


a. Select Closed Polylines:
b. Select objects: Select the Boundary lines which you need to export from
CAD software to ESurvey Cad interface.
4. Open ESurvey CAD Interface by double clicking on the icon available on the
desktop

5. Go to SurfaceImport data

6. Select the Elevation.csv file from C:\ESurvey\Temp (Location of temp depends


where Temp path has been set)

7. Go to SurfaceImport Boundary

8. Browse for the boundary file.


9. Select the Boundary.csv file from C:\ESurvey\Temp (Location of temp depends
where Temp path has been set)

10. Go to ContoursContour Map

11. Set all required parameters in the Contour map screen. Then click on View
button.
12. Click on CAD button to export the generated contours to any specified CAD
package.

Specific Contours
08. Specific Contours
Please follow the following steps to introduce specific contours.
1. Go to ContoursSpecific Contours

2. Type the Contour value & colour at which the specific contour is required. Then
click on Save

3. Click on New and follow the same steps, if you require more than one specific
contour.
4. Close
5. Go to Contours Contour Map
6. Click on View button to view the new specific contours.

Area and Volume


09. Area and Volume
To get the Area and Volume follow the below steps:
1. Go to Contours Area and Volume

2. Get the Data exported to Excel sheet or Click on the Capacity button to get the
Volume report.

3. Report displayed in excel looks like the image below

Export
10. Export
For Exporting data please follow the below mentioned steps:
1. Go to Contours Export

2. Choose the option required and click on Export button, then view the Excel file.

a. Original Elevations It will export all Original Elevations into CSV format.
b. Elevations Plain format It will export only the chainage, distance and
elevation
c. Grid Elevations Row Wise
d. Grid Elevations Tabular Format
e. Series Format It will export all the elevations in Series (E Sections Software
Template) Template format.

Quantity with Fixed Formation


01. Quantity with Fixed Formation
If Ground (Initial) RLs are in CSV file.
Follow these steps:
1. Open E Survey CAD Interface by double click on icon available at desktop
OR
StartProgramsESurveyESurvey CAD
2. Go to FileNew File

3. Type the name of File and Change the directory or Folder if required.

4. Click on Save button.


5. Go to SurfaceImport Data

6. Select the CSV or Excel file containing Ground data according to the following
parameters.

7. Select the File and click on Open Button.

8. Once the file is selected click on Import Button

9. You will see below screen after the import process is completed. Click on OK.
Then close previous screen.

10. Go to EarthWork EarthWork

11. Enter the Formation Level in the specified box

12. Set all required parameters such as grid intervals, scanning radius, etc.
13. Click on View to display.
14. Click on Volume to display the cutting and filling Volume

15. Click on OK.


If Ground (Initial) RLs are CAD.
Follow these steps:
1. Export the ground levels from CAD
Path: ESurvey CAD Menu in CADEarthwork Export Ground (EXG)

a. Select Elevation Texts.


b. Select Objects: Select all the Ground levels and press Enter, it will be
exported to the temporary path as CSV data file.
2. Open E Survey CAD Interface by double clicking on the icon available on the
desktop

4. Type the name of File and Change the directory or Folder if required.

6. Go to SurfaceImport Data

7. Select the Ground.csv file from C:\ESurvey\Temp

8. Once the file is selected click on Import Button

Then close previous screen.

10. Go to EarthWork Earthwork

11. Enter the Formation Level in the box specified

13. Click on View to display.
14. Click on Volume to display the cutting and filling Volume

15. Click on OK.

02. Quantity for Two Levels
If Ground (Initial) RLs and Formation RLs are in CSV file.
Follow these steps:
1. Open ESurvey CAD Interface by double click on the icon available on the desktop

2. Go to FileNew File

3. Type the name of File and Change the directory or Folder if required.

4. Click on Save button.


5. Go to SurfaceImport Data

parameters.

7. Select the File and click on Open Button.

8. Once file is selected click on Import Button

9. You will see below shown screen after the import process is completed. Click on
OK. Then close previous screen.

10. Go to EarthWork Import formation

11. Select the CSV or Excel file containing Formation data according to the following
parameters.

12. Browse for the File and click on Open Button.

13. Once file is selected click on Import Button

14. You will see below screen after the import process is completed. Click on OK.
Then close previous screen.

15. Set all required parameters such as grid intervals, scanning radius, etc.

16. Click on View to display.


17. Click on Volume to display the cutting and filling Volume

18. Click on OK.

If Ground (Initial) RLs and Formation RLs are in CAD.


Follow these steps:
Export the ground levels from CAD

Quantity for Two Levels


1. Go to ESurvey CAD menu Earthwork Export Ground (EXG)

a. Select Objects: Select all the ground levels and Enter, it will be exported
to the temporary path as CSV data file.
2. Go to menu ESurvey CAD Earthwork Export Formation (EXF)

a. Select Elevation Texts


b. Select Objects: Select all the formation levels and Enter, it will export all the
formation levels to the temporary path as CSV data file.
3. Open ESurvey CAD Interface by double clicking on icon available on the desktop
OR
StartProgramsESurveyESurvey CAD
4. Go to FileNew File

5. Type the name of File and Change the directory or Folder if required.

6. Click on Save button.


7. Go to SurfaceImport Data

8. Select the Ground.csv file from C:\ESurvey\Temp


Note: Location of temp depends where Temp path has been set

10. You will see below screen after the import process is completed. Click on OK.
Then close previous screen.

19. Go to EarthWork Import formation

11. Select the Formation.csv file from C:\ESurvey\Temp


Note: Location of temp depends where Temp path has been set
20. Select the File and click on Open Button.

21. Once file is selected click on Import Button

22. You will see below screen after the import process is completed. Click on OK.
Then close previous screen.

23. Set all required parameters such as grid intervals, scanning radius, etc.

24. Click on View to display.


25. Click on Volume to display the cutting and filling Volume

Quantity with Specified Boundary


03. Quantity with Specified Boundary
1. Boundary has to be exported from CAD. To do so follow the below mentioned
path
Go to ESurvey CAD Menu in CadEarthwork Export Boundary (EXPB)

a. Select Closed Polylines.


b. Select Objects: Select all the closed polyline boundaries and press Enter,
which will be exported to the temporary path as CSV data file.
2. Open E Survey CAD Interface by double clicking on the icon available on the
desktop
OR
StartProgramsESurveyESurvey CAD
3. Go to FileNew File
4. Import the ground and formation data for getting quantity between two Levels
or import only Ground for fixed formation as discussed in chapter2.
5. Now Import the Boundary
Go to Surface Import Boundary

6. Browse for the boundary file

7. Select the Boundary.csv file from C:\ESurvey\Temp


Note: Location of temp depends where Temp path has been set

8. Go to EarthWork EarthWork

9. Set all required parameters
10. Click on View to Display
11. Click on Volume button to get cutting and filling quantity between the Boundary.

Calculation and Drawing


04. Calculation and Drawing
To view calculation and drawing follow the below mentioned steps:
1. Go to Earthwork Earthwork
2. In Earth work Preview screen click on Calculation and Drawing button as shown below;

3. Select the section in the list and view the drawing

4. Click on CAD button to export to default CAD software.


5. Click on Report button to get area report of section selected.

Import Formations
05. Import Formations
To calculate the formation level or to get an optimum formation follow the below
mentioned steps:
1. Go to Earthwork Formations

2. Type the level and click on Calculate button to view the cutting and filling
volume

3. Click on Optimum button to get a best possible cutting and filling quantity.

4. Click on Excel button to get a sheet of formation levels checked.

Export
06. Export
To export elevations in different formats follow the below mentioned steps:
1. Go to Earthwork Export

2. Select the required option and find the Excel sheet.

a. Original Elevations It will export all Original Elevations into CSV format.
b. Elevations Plain format It will export only the chainage, distance and
elevation
c. Grid Elevations Row Wise
d. Grid Elevations Tabular Format
e. ESurvey Sections File It will export the data as an ESurvey Sections File
f. Series Format It will export all the elevations in Series (E Sections Software
Template) Template format.
g. Box Volume Report It is another method of calculating volume.

Report
07. Report
To generate the quantity report follow the below mentioned steps
1. Go to Earthwork Report

2. Select required sections


3. Select Output directory
4. Enter a Project name where all your section drawings, area/volume reports are
stored.
5. Select Drawings, Area Report, and volume report. And click on Generate button.

6. Click on Setting button to set the report titles if required.

Report

7. Click on Area and volume buttons to generate reports instantly.


8. Section drawings can also be exported to CAD with required parameters.
