About National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar

Found in 1987, the Punjab Regional Engineering College (REC) has been a premier institute in the
nation for imparting technical education and supporting research and development in the field of
engineering. As of 2007, the Government of India recognizes NIT, Jalandhar as an institute of National
Importance.
With a strength of about 4000 current students, NITJ continues to attract some of the
brightest minds of the nation, in its quest to be a center for excellence.

The Team
The team was initiated in 2010 as an effort to funnel the collective efforts of the best brains in
our college to participate in competitions such as BAJA, SUPRA and Formula Student.
Currently the team consists of about 30 hard working members from many branches
of engineering working together to make this project a success.
WE AIM AT ACHIEVING EXCELLENCE THROUGH CONSISTENT EFFORTS AND EXUBERANCE.
OUR PROJECTS ARE CENTERED ON AUTOMOBILE INDUSTRY WHEREIN WE DEVELOP VARIOUS
FORMULA STYLED COMPETITION RACING CARS. WE ARE ALSO INVOLVED IN ORGANIZING
PROFESSIONAL WORKSHOPS , PROVIDING EXPERT GUIDANCE TO FELLOW STUDENTS.

Past Project
The team participated in Supra SAE India 2012 at Buddh International Circuit, Noida. The car was
one of the most cost effective and aesthetically appealing cars out of the 130 teams that were
selected.

industries and engineers, this competition draws some of the brightest minds from across the

This competition sets a benchmark in automobile field wherein students
present their innovations and their designs are judged on various
parameters. This teaches the teams the need to test the vehicle, analyze
the market and prepare a sellable product thus making the competition an
all round learning experience.

The Machine

The student build FS cars are raw mean autocross

machines.

Stage 2

Weighing around 250 kg, the power of the FS cars

ranges from 40 70 hp. This makes these compact
cars very quick, agile and performance machines
ready to burn the tarmac by its sleeks.

Stage 3

These cars provide an excellent platform for testing

in multiple seasons; teams constantly upgrade them
and gain edge in competition year by year.
