Description
The project dealt with Mechanical wave propagation in
porous medium. Developed a finite element formulation
for proroelastic medium and developed a solver which gives
stress resultants at any point in the continuum. The solver is
only of its kind and gives far better results than other
technique used so far. Was rewarded with a recommendation
letter for the work.
I set a trend by doing an internship at the end of 2nd year
itself. I was selected by a French professor who was working
on Soil- foundation interaction. Using ACCORD, I
studied models of various types of buildings in Lorraine
province and carried out a detailed analysis on risk of
settlement. Those results were to be used in reviving
building safety codes and mining laws in that zone. Was
rewarded with a recommendation letter for the work.

Course Projects

B.Tech Project (Ongoing): I am doing my B.Tech Project under Dr. Nihar Ranjan Patra on
Numerical analysis of large model spread footings on geosynthetic reinforced soil
foundations. We have created an interface between two softwares for validating the finite
element model on reinforced foundations. In the next semester we are going to analyze the
improvement in bearing capacity of various soils under isolated and closely spaced footings
by using various geosynthetics as reinforcements.
Geological survey and Mapping: Attended geological survey camp at Chitrakoot and
surveying and mapping camp at Dehradoon in December 2005. First part of the camp
involved surveying rock deposits and the second part consisted of surveying and plotting map
of landscape using theodolites, total stations, Global Positioning System and plane table
mapping.
