Semiconductors
Philips vast and developing microcontroller portfolio provides maximum
design choice to meet the varying requirements of different applications. With
ranges of 8-, 16- and 32-bit families offering a complete spectrum of embedded
functionality options, our devices offer the flexibility and performance that helps
reduce overall system complexity and provide rapid, low risk design-in and low
cost for todays fast-moving, price sensitive markets.
For example, microcontrollers using the 8-bit C51-based core are well-suited
to access, temperature sensing and fire detection in building control; process
control in industrial applications; and industrial instrumentation. This is due
largely to the dedicated on-chip CAN-bus (including PeliCAN functionality)
or UART capabilities which greatly simplify communication needs, and the
comprehensive application support and tools that ease design-in.
Key applications
Specifically for building control and metering systems but ideal for any
core and the breadth of memory sizes within our Flash microcontroller range
ensures that no matter the application, designers can choose a device that
matches their specific code requirements.
