Interceptors
 Grease Interceptors
Used in kitchens, Restaurant to collect the Fats & Oil

 Oil Interceptors
Used in Service Stations, Parking and garages to
separate the oil from waste water.

 Lint Interceptors
Generally used with Laundry equipments to
collect the debris from waste water, buttons,
stone chips etc.

Grease Interceptors
Water draining to the interceptor passes through a
flow control fitting which regulates the velocity of the
water to the capacity of the interceptor. As the water
enters the interceptor at this controlled rate of flow, it
is free of turbulence. It then passes over a series of
separator baffles which are strategically located to
insure that greases, fats and oils are efficiently
separated from the waste water. Once separated,
these contaminants rise to the surface of the water in
the interceptor by natural floatation and are
accumulated until removed.
The waste water now relieved of over 90% of the
contaminant oils and greases, continues to flow
though the interceptor into the sanitary system.

Grease Interceptor
Large Capacity

Grease Interceptor
Small Capacity

Oil Interceptors
The Oil and grease Inceptors works on
Gravity separation principle.
 The
interceptor
collects
oil
and
conveniently permits the collected oil to
be drained to a storage tank by means of
an
adjustable
gravity
draw-off
connection. Sediment and chips are
collected in sediment bucket and
periodically removed. Rate of flow into
the interceptor is controlled by a flow
control plate.

Pumping System
Sump Pumps Station/ Lift station
 Duplex Sump Station
Two sump pumps are used to lift the
soil/waste water from sump and discharge
to Drainage network.

 Simplex Station
A Single pump is used to lift the soil
/waste water from sump and discharge to
Drainage network.

Operation & Maintenance

 Duplex & Simplex Sump Pumps
operation is automatic with the help of
Floated Float Switches.
Waste Water High level is monitored
thru Floated Float Switches.
Alarm is generated on panel and in BMS
work station on increase of waste water
level in the Sump Pit.

Checks-Before Operation Start

Mechanical Checks
 Disconnect Power Supply
Check the visible parts of Pumps and
accessories in Sump.
Check the mountings of pumps and
accessories.
 Check the monitoring & controlling
components( Floated Floats).
 Check the handling accessories.
Take care surrounding liquid may be
hot.

Checks-Before Operation Start

Electrical Checks
 Check Power & Control connections.
Check the Pump motor & Cable Insulation
(Record it).
Check the Fuse rating and Overload setting
in panel.
Check the Floated Float Switches and are in
control circuit.
Make the Power ON and give a starting kick
to check the rotation. Transpose two phase
leads if rotations are wrong.

Automatic Operation
Duplex Sump Station
There are 4 Float switches:
One is for dry run protection of Pumps
Two are for starting the Sump pumps
(One for each Pump).
One is for generating high level alarm
in panel and in BMS workstation.

THERE WOULD BE THREE FLOAT SWITCHES IN

SIMPLEX SUMP STATION

Operation
Duplex Sump Station
 Keep the HAND-OFF-AUTO Selector switch
on Auto Mode.
Once soil waste/ storm water level increases
to First Float switch level of first pump, The
First pump will start.
If the level further increases and reaches to
the 2nd Float switch level, the 2nd Pump will
start.
Once the sump level decreases, the pump
will become off in same sequence.
Pump operation sequence shall be automatically
changing thru Latch Relay on every consecutive
starts/operation.

Monitoring- Oil Interceptor

The operation is monitored thru
electronic panel and the probes installed
in interceptors.
Normal Operation - Normal level light is
ON on the Electronic Monitoring system.
50% Level light is ON, indicates 50%
capacity
When maximum capacity Level light is
ON, indicates maximum capacity. Once
it is indicated the, the Alarm sounds and
valve is closed.

Maintenance

Warning- Before Starting work

BEFORE STARTING WORK ON THE PUMP,

MAKE SURE THAT THE PUMP IS ISOLATED
FROM THE POWER SUPPLY AND CANNOT
BE ENERGISED. THIS ALSO APPLIES TO
THE CONTROL CIRCUIT.
BEWARE OF RISK INFECTION.
WEAR GOGGLES AND RUBBER GLOVES
FOLLOW LOCAL SAFETY REGULATIONS

Sump Pumps & Pits

Clean the Pump thoroughly and rise it
with clean water.
 Clean the sump pit.
 Check the floats switches operation.
Check the insulation of motor and record
it.
Check the pump for oil leakage.
Change the oil as per manufacturer
direction and recommendation given along
with O&M manual.
Frequency of cleaning depends on the
usage and load

Maintenance -Interceptors
Periodical cleaning of oil and grease
etc.
Based on load and usage.

 Check probes and its functions.

 Check connection and indicators.

Trouble Shooting Sump Pumps

Problem

Possible Cause

Unit does
not operate.

Sump water level low.

Solution

Normal. When water level in the

sump rises, the pump will
automatically operate. To test this,
lift the float upwards, if the pump
starts, release the float
immediately.

No power.
Check power is available to the unit.
Float switch is stuck
in the open position.

Float restricted and this kept the

switch open.
Clean the float.
Unit will operate.
Clean the sump.
Ensure that the float is not
restricted.

Trouble Shooting Sump Pumps

Unit operates
continuously
.

Float switch is stuck in

the closed position.

Check float position and free the float

if stuck.

Unit operates
but no or
little water
drained.

Suction inlet restricted.

Clean suction inlet.

Discharge line
restricted.

Clean discharge line.

Trouble Shooting Interaction

Alarm in BMS Work Station and on panel.
 Observation
Pumps operation normal
Level is normal.
