Problem Statement
The problem to be considered is shown schematically in the figure. A cold fluid at 293.15 K flows
into the pipe through a large inlet, and mixes with a warmer fluid at 313.15 K that enters through a
smaller inlet located at the elbow. The pipe dimensions, the fluid properties and boundary conditions
are given in SI units. What will be the properties of the outflow?

Open the Workbench from starting menu

Double click on Fluid Flow (FLUENT).

Right click on the Geometry and go to Properties.

In Analysis Types choose 2D.

Double click on the Geometry and choose the unit for drawing.

Select XY plane and sketch in XY plane.

Draw the given problem in Sketching with proper dimension

Concept Surfaces from Sketches. (Click on sketch and apply)

Click on Generate, save the Project.

Split the face to 4 different faces for better meshing

Save the Project and close the design modeller

Now double click on Mesh.

Click on Geometry and go to Surface Body and change the Material as fluid.

Mesh Insert Sizing (Select highlighted edge Apply, then provide sizing data with Bias)

Mesh Generate mesh (by right click on Mesh)

Now mesh will be looked as.

Mesh Insert Mapped Face Meshing

Select Geometry and click on Apply

Select Edge

Select the Edge, right click on it and click on Create Named Section.

After giving name to all edges Export the mesh file.

Select Fluent Input file from drop down box and save it by giving a proper name.

Open the fluent start menu with 2D option.
