FIVE STAR RESORT HOTEL ( 8 Weeks)

PURPOSE OF THE DESIGN & OBJECTIVE:


The design as a narrative and spatial syntax This project requires the
student to design a five star category- RESORT HOTEL based on a theme, and
transforming the theme into spatial narrative and draw analogies from our epics,
myths, and narrative past. Spatial sequences to be structured similar to events,
episodes based on the narrations. Interior spatial morphology that is expressive of
unconventional ideas.
INTRODUCTION:
Five star resort hotels offer unique holiday experiences to the guests to relax and
unwind. This experience is further enhanced if it is expressive of the local culture
and traditions integrated with a theme. Theme based interior design concepts to be
implemented based on the folklore, literature, etc The design must take advantage
of the site condition and environment.
SITE:
The site is contoured and located on the scenic setting having a beach view a
trapezoidal site with two parallel sides one side 155m long abutting the road
and the other 180m long facing the beach located 500m from the HTL
shoreline. The width of the site varies from 130m to 160m and the contour
levels difference the highest point at road level and lowest point is 9m below
the road level located in a valley with view below and above and overlooking
the mountains and beach. (Sketch enclosed)

OUTLINE REQUIREMENTS:
Guest rooms for 200 guests with deluxe rooms, suites, cottages etc
Banquet hall for 250 people
Two conference halls for 100 people each
A coffee shop
A multicuisine restaurant for 60 people/ Bar for 80 people
Swimming pool

Health club
Shopping Arcade

OBJECTIVE:

To design A RESORT HOTEL for 200 guests for creating a unique, rejuvenating
and memorable experience for the guests

The design should respond to the site condition and environment.

To create climate responsive hotel with respect to the orientation of the


rooms good views ,open space, network of open space, roads, infrastructure,
amenities, etc.,

To enhance the sustainable factors like paved/shaded pathways, RWH, WWT,


SWT, etc., for comfortable living in the site and surroundings.

The successful design of a hotel project depends on the uniqueness of


the theme and ambience, services and availability of appropriate
services and the provision of adequate parking spaces should be
implemented in the design.

PROJECT SCHEDULE:
Stage 1: DATA COLLECTION & ANALYSIS

Mandatory Submission Requirements:

Presentation in a medium of your choice

Case study should be in minimum A2 size or bigger size sheets

Concept and design development sketches should be submitted in


hard copy minimum A1 or bigger size sheets. All architectural drawings
to be done on A1/A0 size sheets only.

Site plan showing landscape, circulation, site services, site section and
elevation showing levels in (1:500)/Suitable scale

Floor plans (1:100),Rendered Elevations (1:100), Detailed Sections


(1:100)

Study Models (Appropriate scale), 3D Views, and Final Model.
