Foreword
Main motive of posititude is to educate you of yourself, your body
and your skills. In this issue we have included section on Body
Power, Brain Power and Will Power. You will enjoy reading this
section and will be able to understand these 3 powers and will
be able to learn how to increase and maintain these powers in
you. In our daily life, we loose our self Esteem due to negativity
and work pressures. To boost our self esteem, we have included
one section on this very important issue. After reading this
article you will be able to learn how to boost and maintain your
Self Esteem High, in your personal and professional life. In
todays high-tech world parenting has become a challenge for
every parent. Patience and tolerance are the two values which
should be part of every parents character. On this burning issue,
we have discussed in our section on Parenting.
In diet and exercise section, we have included uses and benefits
of Basil and Halasan in our life. Basin will boost you immunity
system and Halasan will keep your spinal cord in a healthy
position.
We have included vastu for Kitchen in this month of Vastu
section. This gives you tips on planning you kitchen and guide
you on fire and water parts in the kitchen.

Thanks for sharing the magazine with nice material. I read the most of it
and found the first article i.e. on fear presented very nicely. I appreciate
that particular article and have the same feeling in me that one should
listen to the soul and try do deliver the output with honesty, sincerity and
fearless effort which will sure help in living fearlessly. Dar ke jeena bhi koi
jeena hai. Jo dar gaya samjho mar gaya was used in Sholey the movie but
that must be taken in right way not like Gabbar Singh. I would also like to
share some material with pictures too, you can see and publish the same
if you feel it is worth and useful.

How to Develop Physical Power?


Our body is made up of basically following systems

Muscular System, comprising of Muscles, tendon, cartilages
Nervous System, comprising of brain, nerves and neuron spread through-out
the body communicating messages and reflexes,
Circulatory system, comprising of heart, blood, artilleries and veins
Digestive system, comprising of mouth, elementary canal, small intestine and
large intestine, etc.,
Respiratory system, comprising of Nose, diaphragm, lungs.

There are other small and important systems also, which participates in functioning
of our Body in coordination with the above systems.
The big Question is why we eat food? Answer is very simple -To provide energy to
the body to make all the systems functions efficiently. Body burn only the wanted
quantity of energy and balance is accumulated in the body in the form of fat and fat
makes the body bulky and heavy.
Our muscular system provide power to our body for doing day to day works. To get
body power we should follow the following diet guide lines

Eat healthy and fresh food. Our food should constitute Proteins, Vitamins,
Fibers, Carbohydrates, i.e.,. We should avoid Junk food and oily food in routine.

2) Do at least 15-20 Minutes exercise daily. Following are the benefits


- keep the muscles toned,
- all the joints of skeleton system
retain their mobility,

How to Develop Brain Power?


The Brain is the most important part of Human Body. Main function of the brain is to
receive information from all parts of the body, interpret that information and guide
the respective part. All the sense orders send the information in the form of odor,
light, sound and pain. The Brain also help to perform vital operations of the body like
breading, releasing the hormones and enzymes.

The Brain is divided into four sections. Which are further divided into smaller parts.
Each part handle their respective functions.
Main parts are a) The Cerebrum is the largest part of the Brain. It handles memory, speech, the
senses, emotional response, and more.
b) The cerebellum is below and behind the cerebrum and is attached to the brain
stem. It control motor function, the bodys balance, and its ability to interpret
information sent to the brain by the eyes, ears and other sensory organs.
c) The Brain stem functions include respiration, blood pressure, some reflexes and the
changes that happen in the body during what is called the Fight or Flight response.
d) The diencephalon inside the cerebrum above the brain system, is responsible for
sensory function, food intake control and the bodys ability to sleep.
Brain is made up of neurons and through nerves communication happens between
the different parts of the body.
As per psychological, brain is divided into Right and left brain. Each part perform
different activities.
In general, the left hemisphere is dominant in language:
processing what you hear and handling most of the duties of
speaking. It's also in charge of carrying out logic and exact
mathematical computations. When you need to retrieve a
fact, your left brain pulls it from your memory.

The right hemisphere is mainly in charge of spatial abilities, face recognition and
processing music. It performs some math, but only rough estimations and
comparisons. The brain's right side also helps us to comprehend visual imagery and
make sense of what we see. It plays a role in language, particularly in interpreting
context and a person's tone.
The brain carefully balances and assigns control of certain functions to each side. It is
all nature's way of ensuring that the brain ultimately splits up tasks to maximize
efficiency. Most people are right-hand dominant which is actually controlled by the
left side of the brain.
Your Brain is a muscle, therefore you need to do regular exercise.
Everyone should maintain the health of ones brain so that they can use its power to
the fullest. By following tips you can improve the fitness of the brain and make it
more powerful.
1) Play Puzzles You should use the brain to think
on word or number puzzles. This will compel
the brain to use its respective part to
participate in that activity. By using the brain in
these kind of calculations we keep it active and
awake. If We dont do this kind of activities,
then the left part of the brain will become
weak.

2) Maintain the Social Circle. By keeping in touch


with your old friends, you keep all the memories
alive. You remember their home address,
telephone numbers, birthdays, anniversary days,
family members name and their other
particulars.

Dont Use Calculators - While calculating mileage of your


car, your tax liability, budgets and expenses, sales figures,
calculating marks in examinations, never use calculator. Use
your brain and practice to calculate in brain. This empowers
your brain. By repeated practice your brains power and
capacity increases.

Develop new Skills Doing routine jobs and task makes your brain
monotonous. It become accustomed of doing the same job. As soon as any
new task is given, brain irritates and dont opens up easily. Therefore out of
routine you should develop new skills like writing articles, reading books,
gardening, learn music and many others. Come our of monotonous routine.
This makes the brain active and receptive to new challenges of the life.

Practice remembering birthdays, house numbers, list of grocery items to be


bought from the shop, etc.,

Eat brain healthy food and do regular Exercise By doing regular exercise
you ensure adequate blood and oxygen flow in the Brain. Include food
which are high in Omega-3 fatty acids, high in antioxidants and low in bad
fats is good for the brain as well as for the rest of the body.

Use memory aids Write down all the activities you have to do on a piece
of paper. Use Cards to remember things. While parking your vehicle, park
near to a landmark like tree, light post. Before going to sleep arrange your
office bag, keep it on a place along with your watch, valet, car keys, office
keys etc., so that in morning you dont forget them. Before going to sleep
set the alarm. In office also keep writing appointments on the calendar.

Think Positive - As we have mentioned earlier also, the Brain is made-up


of neutrons. Stress & anxiety kills existing brain neurons and also stop new
neurons from being created. Research has proved that positive thinking,
especially in the future tense, speeds up the creation of cells and
dramatically reduces stress & anxiety. Try and get a handle on negative
thoughts particularly of past happenings and make an effort to replace
them with positive ones.

How to Develop Will Power?


I can remember my mother scolding me in the morning, when I delay in leaving my
bed. She always use to say You cant do any thing in your life if you dont make
your will power strong. First of all, decide whether you want to get up or not.
Whatever you choose is going to build up your day. If you decide not to get up
early then you will be starting your day late and will be loosing those precious
hours of the day, which a valuable and refreshing. And if you choose to get up
early, then you will be lucky enough to be gifted with those precious hours
these words always roam in mind every day in the morning. And I choose what
fits me. I have seen that the day I get up late in the morning, I am always short of
time and have to regret at the end of the day. But the day when I get up early, I
always enjoy extra time to do some extra activities I love to do, like writing for
POSITITUDE.
So, when I decide to get up early in the morning, I induce the strength inside me to
realize that getting up early is the best way to manage the day in a more
productive manner. Just think and act is the basic funda. This makes my will power
strong and rest all is assured.
My doctor told me that I have to control my weight to have control on my BP and
cholesterol ratio. If I dont do this, says the doctor, then ready for the
consequences. This threat was shaking. To control the weight I started with
reduction of Carbohydrates, sugar and salt. Started cardio exercises. In the
beginning it was very difficult for me to have control over my taste buds. But when
I decided that I have to do, what I have decided to do, things changed entirely. This
is Will power. When your brain and soul accept anything, your will also accept it
and become strong to follow the instructions of brain and soul. Practice makes the
will power more stronger and strengthening.
Mahatama Gandhi has rightly said

Strength does not come from physical capacity, it comes from


indomitable will.
Actual practice of the Will is the only way to increase it. The more you practice it,
the more it grows!

When we fall short while doing something challenging, we often wonder: how can
I increase my willpower?
The factors that determine our present level of willpower may be many: past-life
karmic conditioning, upbringing and culture, for example. But the practice that can
actually increase our willpower is only one: making and keeping promises. Only
when we exercise our existing willpower muscles to stick to promises can we
enhance those muscles.
Significantly, not all promises are equally potent in boosting our willpower muscles.
When we make promises about material things only, then we subject ourselves to
a solitary struggle in willpower exertion. But if we make promises that connect us
with the supreme power of Krishna, then his omnipotence offers quantum boosts
to our willpower. The Bhagavad-gita (18.33)) indicates that the determination
sustained by unbreakable yoga practice is determination in the mode of goodness.
Such enlightened determination focuses first on strengthening the foundation of
our willpower by solidifying our Krishna-connection. We use whatever willpower
we have to keep our promise of practicing devotional service at the scripturally
recommended and individually customized standard. Honoring this devotional
promise increases our willpower in two ways one normal and one
transcendental. The normal way is that it exercises and thereby increases our
willpower, as does keeping any other promise. The transcendental way, which is far
more consequential, is that it pleases Krishna. He then connects us with his
omnipotence thereby blessing us with boosts in our willpower that far exceed what
our psychophysical nature would normally have allowed us.

Thats why the best way to increase our


willpower is to invest in rigidly
practicing devotional service. This
investment will give us the richest
returns of manifold increased willpower
that can benefit us in all areas of our
life material and spiritual.

You cant get it back again. One of my
colleague was fighting depression in office.
What ever he does, is rejected by the Boss.
Every day scolding and threat of being fired
out of the company.

He came to me and ask me what to do. I told him humbly, first of all you should
correct your self esteem. Create of a Positive self esteem. He immediately reverted
It is easy to say to live in a positive self esteem, but very difficult to maintain the
positive self esteem. I am facing lot of problems daily in my life. I lost my confidence
in me and certainly I will be thrown out of the job. I know how to prepare good
reports but my boss doesnt understand them. He never appreciate my work, always
demand more and more. There should a limit to every thing.
He was right. Life is full of negativity. People will challenge you by creating problems
for you. Surrounding environment will be more demanding. Therefore face these
challenges, exploit the opportunities, face problems in your life with positive attitude
and confidence in yourself. You should always be ready to solve the problem and
should inculcate the confidence in yourself . This all can be done if you have a strong
self esteem.
But you need to know what is self esteem and why to build self esteem and maintain
self esteemed higher.

Self esteem is normally considered as Personality Trait of oneself. It is basically


describe as a person's overall sense of self-worth or personal value. Self-esteem is
the belief one have about one self. If one think that he is neglected, people are
ignoring him, and other negative things about himself, then that person will be in a
very low Self Esteem. If the person thinks about himself as a blessed person, he is an
able person, he do all the tasks with confidence, problems doesnt seems problem,
they are light and happy. We consider that person in high self esteem.

Now the questions rises here is, that why one should have high self esteem? There
are many reasons to have high Self Esteem.

When we have high Self Esteem, we have confidence in our capabilities and
skills. We see all the problems as opportunity and solve them with ease. Even if
we are unable to perform, we are not discouraged, but we come up again with
more positivity and capability and perform. Every thing is on the lighter side.
When we are positive in our thoughts, our deeds are also always full of positivity.
We are light and strong from our inside also. We dont get disturbed by
difficulties we come across our daily routine.
When we have high self esteem, we are always decadent and happy. We spread
the happiness and happiness spread a positive environment at around us.
Positive environment always attract others. Peace and happiness is most wanted
thing in this world. People get attracted by positive people. Therefore selfesteem always build relationships.

These were few of the benefits of positive self esteem. But how to keep our self in
high self esteem is an interesting question. We brought out some of the techniques,
to keep Self Esteem High.
1) Think positive of your self Always Think positive about yourself. Never think
negative of your self. Think yourself a bless person. You are blessed with a good
and healthy body, good family and work place. You can face any situation and
give solution. Never criticize yourself irrespective of what others say about you.
Negative critic about yourself weakens you. Therefore never allow yourself to
criticize yourself.
2) Live with yourself every day at least 5 minutes. Take deep breath, calm your
thoughts and focus inside. This is a wonderful practice that give you time to think
about yourself. When you are with yourself, always think about the positive side
of yourself. Think of successes and achievements. Think how you have helped
others in their personal and professional lives. This will inculcate positive self
esteem in you.
3) Before going to sleep Think at least 3 good things you deed during the day.
Appreciate your self. Write these 3 good things on a piece of paper, rethink, how
you deed those, what was your motive behind and how it has effected you and
your surroundings. Keep all the write-ups and read these in the end of the week
and month.

This will induce a positive self esteem in you and build up confidence. It
will become a Self Esteem Encyclopedia for you. Whenever you read it, it will
double your self esteem and motivate you to do more good things in your life.
4) Doing good When you talk to yourself and evaluate your activities daily , it
makes you more stronger and give you judicial power to distinguish between
good and bad. Therefore always do what you think, good and benefactor for
all. Repeatedly doing good in your daily routine, strengthen Self-Esteem and
makes you a stronger and positive person. Do Good, be Good, end will
always be Good.
5) Manage Failures and Mistakes It is not necessary that you never makes
mistakes or you never fails. There are many occasions when we make
mistakes despite of all efforts and may face failures. It doesnt mean we
deserve that. Always think that it was by chance and due to some negligence
on your part. You can correct it, you can convert your failure into success if do
slight more efforts and hard work. There is no end, it is always a beginning.
Start afresh and achieve what you want and what you deserve. This will build
up your self confidence and self esteem stronger and more firm.
6) Be kind and good to others Always think positive, be cooperative, generous
and helpful. This posititude (positive+attitude) motivate you further for doing
good to others. Show kindness towards others, like you can help some old
man to cross the road, give seat to some lady in bus or train, helping your
colleague in preparing the presentation and so on,..list is very big and large.
This create a conciliatory environment around you. In turn others will also be
good to you and cooperate you in daily routine and you will be more closure
to them. Recognition and cooperation boost your self esteem.

Be innovative (Try doing new things) Always try doing new things
and innovative ways in you life. This gives you more confidence in
your capabilities and probability of success also increases. When you
do new things and implement new ideas, other people will appreciate you
and your ideas. They will always support you. This boost your self esteem
and helps you doing all your task with confidence.
8) Never compare yourself with others. Every person is born with unique
qualities. No two person are same. Therefore always focus on your
capabilities and skills and do best using them. Others may be having their
own strengths and weaknesses. Never compare yourself with others.
Always focus more on your strengths and do your best. This will bring a new
confidence in you. Respect others strengths. If you want to compare
yourself, compare with yourself. Do better than yesterday. This will inculcate
positive thinking and strengthen you self esteem.
9) Keep good company It is well know phrase that a person is known by his
company. Your company effect you thoughts and your image in the society.
If you keep company of good and positive people, then you self esteem
will buildup automatically. But if you are surrounded by wrong and negative
people, then you will also be negative and you will never be in high esteem.
10) Never procrastinate At the beginning of the day make a to-do list and
priority list. Follow that and complete all the tasks you have mentioned in
the list. End of the day, when you see, that you have completed more than
80% of the task, you feel proud of yourself for spending your day
productively. This feeling of accomplishment enhance your self esteem.

Patience, you and Child


Patience come with age and experience. It requires lot of understanding and
Control. Children doesnt have patience. They are new to the world and everything
new to them and they become curious to know about new things. It is good also, to
know more and learn more about the new things. Knowing will induce knowledge and
induce experience to face the worldly problems in future.
As an adult you know everything and have experience, therefore you are very cautious
and avoid to take risk. Taking care of your child is your duty, but understanding and
handling the child is also your responsibility. Understand the feeling of the child and
his anxiousness and eagerness to know more and learn more.
In this issue we will discuss about having patience in dealing your child.
Put yourself in your Child Shoes. To understand the feeling of your child, you need to
put yourself in your childs shoes. You have to understand him/her what he/she wants
to say and do. Get down on his/her level and try to experience life as he/she sees it. In
other words, empathize.
Help the child to understand.

Instead of opposing, try to make him / her


understand the effect of his /her action on others.
How others will be get effected and how they will
feel about them. Understand their needs and
understand what they want to do. They may be
right also. Always guide them the right and
correct way to do or approach to handle the
situation. Dont impose your decisions. Give them
time to understand you. They will understand, try
once and over and over again.

Understand your action. Sometimes, instead of understanding their feeling and


mindset we behave illogical and try to impose our decision. Which is wrong. Before
acting, understand what you are trying to do and how you are going to deal with the
children. Always bear the patience as your ornament and understand and study your
behaving and then act according. You will g-et embarrassed and think you childs
actions are a reflection of your parenting skills.

Perhaps you're concerned about your child's future or worried about how her
behavior is affecting you.
Childs behaviour is reflection of your behaviour Remember that children are very
fast learners and always follows their parents doing
since their childhood. Therefore always be
cautious in dealing others and your behaviour also.
If the child not behaving in a proper manner
Then instead of pointing him / her look at your
Behaviour and evaluate whether he is behaving
Your way. This will give You time to react in the
Desirable manner. None of your action should
deteriorate the situation. Be calm and react.
Always set a good example before your children.
Set Boundaries Sit with your child. Discuss his/her needs and set boundaries in
discussions with them proactively. Enforce them consistently and remind them time
to time. Suppose you have set bed time at 10:30Pm, then you have to ensure that it is
followed religiously by them. If not, talk will them and remind them your discussions
and the commitment they have given you. In case he/she is finding any difficult in
following the rules, again sit and re-define the boundaries. This will discipline them
and understand the importance of planning and work accordingly. Never Impose,
discuss and set rules in accordance with them.
Self Control Give time to your children to practice self control. New Apple 6 is
launched and your child is having Apple 4. Tell
his/her to compare the features of the two mobiles
and evaluate their needs. If the new equipment is
demand of their job/work, then he can buy
otherwise why to waste for the thing which doesnt
induce value addition to their life. Most of the kid
are anxious to buy the new version, whether that is
useful of not. Therefore give them chance to
understand their needs. This will induce Self
Control in them automatically.

There are many more examples of self control. Another one of the most important
area is eating Junk food. Teach his/her the need of the body in relation to the daily
routine job. Educate him/her that food should taken to make the body healthy and fit
so that he doesnt face health problem. Then teach him/her of the various food
required by the body with quantity required. They will understand it. Again you should
be an example of the same in front of them. When they start thinking about their
needs, benefits and healthy life they start focusing and taking care of themselves and
the surrounding. Understanding always induce Self Control.
Patience and Tolerance In this modern life Patience and Tolerance are
most important ornament of the positive
personality. Wear these two jewels in your
Character. In daily routine your child will
challenge you with his / her notorious
activities. In that time you should have
tolerance and patience. Start counting
reverse, drink glass of water, start talking
to yourself. Understand that bearing child is
love and not business. Dont expect too much from them. Expect too much from
yourself. Talk to yourself and understand it that you are the cause of his/her birth and
it is your inborne duty to make his/her a good human being. Be cool and calm. Cool
and calm mind can only help you understand the situation. A disturb mind can only
induce negativity like anger, frustration, attraction, contamination, etc.,
In nut shell your child is the mirror of your behaviour, character, values and attitude.
Therefore before amending his/her behaviour change yourself first. Be an example,
what you want your child to be.
Dont expect changes over time. It take time to adopt the change. Recognize your
impatience is as much an issue as your child's misbehaving. Have patience with
yourself. Many years of conditioning take time to respond to change.

Benefits of Basil

The tulsi or holy basil is an important symbol in the


Hindu religious tradition and is worshiped in the
morning and evening by Hindus at large. The holy
basil is also a herbal remedy for a lot of common
ailments. Here're top fifteen medicinal uses of Tulsi.
1. Healing Power: The Tulsi plant has many
medicinal properties. The leaves are a nerve
tonic and also sharpen memory. They promote
the removal of the catarrhal matter and phlegm
from the bronchial tube. The leaves strengthen
the stomach and induce copious perspiration.
The seed of the plant are mucilaginous (Slimy).

2. Fever & Common Cold: The leaves of basil are specific for many fevers. During
the rainy season, when malaria and dengue fever are widely prevalent, tender
leaves, boiled with tea, act as preventive against these diseases. In case of
acute fevers, a decoction of the leaves boiled with powdered cardamom in half
a litre of water and mixed with sugar and milk brings down the temperature.
The juice of tulsi leaves can be used to bring down fever. Extract of tulsi leaves in
fresh water should be given every 2 to 3 hours. In between one can keep giving
sips of cold water. In children, it is every effective in bringing down the
temperature.
3. Coughs: Tulsi is an important constituent of many Ayurvedic cough syrups and
expectorants. It helps to mobilize mucus in bronchitis and asthma. Chewing tulsi
leaves relieves cold and flu.
4. Sore Throat: Water boiled with basil leaves can be taken as drink in case of sore
throat. This water can also be used as a gargle.
5. Respiratory Disorder: The herb is useful in the treatment of respiratory system
disorder. A decoction of the leaves, with honey and ginger is an effective
remedy for bronchitis, asthma, influenza, cough and cold. A decoction of the
leaves, cloves and common salt also gives immediate relief in case of influenza.
They should be boiled in half a litre of water till only half the water is left and
add then taken.

6. Kidney Stone: Basil has strengthening effect on the kidney. In case of renal
stone the juice of basil leaves and honey, if taken regularly for 6 months it will
expel them via the urinary tract.
7. Heart Disorder: Basil has a beneficial effect in cardiac disease and the
weakness resulting from them. It reduces the level of blood cholesterol.
8. Children's Ailments: Common pediatric problems like cough cold, fever,
diarrhea and vomiting respond favorably to the juice of basil leaves. If pustule
of chicken pox delay their appearance, basil leaves taken with saffron will
hasten them.
9. Stress: Basil leaves are regarded as an 'adaptogen' or anti-stress agent. Recent
studies have shown that the leaves afford significant protection against stress.
Even healthy persons can chew 12 leaves of basil, twice a day, to prevent
stress. It purifies blood and helps prevent several common elements.

10. Mouth Infections: The leaves are quit effective for the ulcer and infections in
the mouth. A few leaves chewed will cure these conditions.
11. Insect Bites: The herb is a prophylactic or preventive and curative for insect
stings or bites. A teaspoonful of the juice of the leaves is taken and is
repeated after a few hours. Fresh juice must also be applied to the affected
parts. A paste of fresh roots is also effective in case of bites of insects and
leeches.
12. Skin Disorders: Applied locally, basil juice is beneficial in the treatment of
ringworm and other skin diseases. It has also been tried successfully by some
naturopaths in the treatment of leucoderma.

13. Teeth Disorder: The herb is useful in curing teeth disorders. Its leaves, dried
in the sun and powdered, can be used for brushing teeth. It can also be
mixed with mustered oil to make a paste and used as toothpaste. This is very
good for maintaining dental health, counteracting bad breath and for
massaging the gums. It is also useful in pyorrhea and other teeth disorders.
14. Headaches: Basil makes a good medicine for headache. A decoction of the
leaves can be given for this disorder. Pounded leaves mixed with sandalwood
paste can also be applied on the forehead for getting relief from heat,
headache, and for providing coolness in general.
15. Eye Disorders: Basil juice is an effective remedy for sore eyes and nightblindness, which is generally caused by deficiency of vitamin A. Two drops of
black basil juice are put into the eyes daily at bedtime.

While exhaling raise the hips and abdomen, bringing the legs over the head,
keeping them suspended above the ground. After exhaling fully, lower the
legs to rest the toes on the floor keeping the legs straight. Point the toes and
breathe normally.

Exhale, and while inhaling lift the toes off the ground keeping the legs straight.
Slowly and with controlled movement, lower the back vertebrae by vertebrae to
the ground bringing the legs to a 90 degree angle from the floor. Inhale, and while
exhaling, slowly lower the legs to the ground coming into supine position. Relax
the body and breath deeply
Do's:
Keep the legs straight in knees with toes vertical on the ground over your head.
Legs are in one straight line. As far as possible, the back remains straight and
vertical. Arms straight with palms on the ground. Shoulders resting on the ground.
The chin resting against the chest.
Don'ts:
Bend the knees. Move the neck or overstrain it in chin lock position. Move into this
asana fast as a lot of stress is put onto the spine.

Precautions & Contraindications:


Should be avoided during pregnancy and menstruation, high blood pressure and
brain diseases. Should be avoided if suffering from an enlarged thyroid, spleen
or liver as well as cervical spondylitis, slipped disc, headache and weak blood
vessels in the eyes.

Vastu Tips for Kitchen


Kitchen is the most important area of any home. It is the area where lot of energy
plays role and it is the area where food is prepare for the health of the occupant of
the house..
As per Vastu Shastra, South and South-East
Corner is for Fire. In Kitchen fire is used to
cook the food. Consider the following tips
while planning construction of Kitchen
1) Kitchen should be constructed in the
South or South-East corner of the plot
area. Alternative direction is North-west.
Other then these two directions kitchen
should not be constructed.
2) Cooking gas stove should be placed at south-east so that while cooking the face
of the person cooking is towards East Direction.
3) Kitchens in north direction tend to affect health female members.
4) North and N-E direction is for water, therefore place water sink in the north-east
direction with the maximum distance from cooking gas.
5) Larger windows in the kitchen should be in Eastern direction whereas small
ventilators, if any, should be placed in South direction.

6) Provision for water storage and taps should be made in North-east of the
kitchen.
7) Electric equipment like oven, microwave, refrigerator, etc., should be placed
in South-West direction.
8) The slope of the water flow should be from Southwest towards Northeast.

10) There should be no toilets and bathrooms adjoining and above or below the
