Dear Senior Scholar-Athlete:
The Geneva All Sports Boosters would like to congratulate you on your qualification as a
candidate for the Brayton Scholar-Athlete Award. This award will be presented at the
annual Awards Assembly in May and an application is enclosed for you to complete.
Annually since 1984, the All Sports Boosters have recognized an outstanding senior male
and female scholar-athlete in memory of Joseph Brayton. Joseph Brayton was a Geneva
High School senior who tragically lost his life in an automobile accident shortly before
graduation. During his high school career, Joseph maintained the important balance
between academics, athletics and his love of music. The award was established to
encourage the importance of good scholarship in students who participate in sports and
related sports programs.
In order to be considered, candidates must have maintained a 3.5 cumulative grade point
average (non-weighted or weighted) and participated in a minimum of at least one sport
or served as a manager during each year they attended Geneva High School. The
students participation is the consideration, not individual success or ability. Other criteria
to be considered will include leadership, citizenship and enthusiasm.
Each winner, one male and one female, will receive a $500.00 check presented by the All
Sports Boosters to help with your further education. The names of the winners will join
past winners on an engraved plaque, which hangs in the trophy case outside the Geneva
High School Contest Gym.
The selection committee will consist of a panel non-senior parents who can objectively
review and decide upon our 2013 recipients. Your name will be withheld from the
committee during the selection process. All completed applications need to be mailed to:
GHS ASB at P.O. Box 372 in Geneva, IL by 3:30 p.m. Saturday, April 26, 2014. Seal and
label the envelope containing your application as follows:
