Sonu Nigam The King Of Romance

One day when an 18 year old boy from Kolkata decided to come to
Mumbai and be a singer, neither he nor the world knew that he was
going to be a music maestro with his romantic songs in Bollywood. The
man with the golden voice, Sonu Nigam has had a long journey with
some ups and downs, but victorious in the end.
Following his father, Agam Kumar Nigams footsteps, Sonu honed his
God given talent which was first recognised by the musical genius R.D.
Burman when he told Sonu that he would sing the romantic song Ek
Ladki Ko Dekha from 1942, A Love Story if the appointed singer Kumar
Sanu didnt turn up on time. Recalling this incident, Sonu later said in
an interview that with an innocent heart he wished that Mr. Sanu would
not show up but he did. Not being discouraged by this, Sonu went on to
be spotted by the makers of Sa Re Ga Ma and got his biggest break by
hosting the musical show for several years.
During the mid-nineties, Sonu got a break and sung two emotional love
songs, Accha Sila Diya for the movie Bewafa Sanam and then his first
major hit, Sandese Aate Hain composed by Anu Malik for the movie
Border. He became a crowd favourite when he sang Yeh Dil Deewana
for the movie Pardes which starred Shah Rukh Khan.
Not many know that it is Sonu Nigam who is the voice behind the
melodious love songs of Shah Rukh Khan who has been famously titled
the king of romance. From the beginning of his playback singing
career, he became synonymous with his romantic songs. Being the first
and last name that came in mind for love songs, Sonu went on to
receive several awards for his melodious performances.
After releasing his solo album, Deewana in 1999, which became a
huge hit, Sonu continued on the Bollywood path to add his vocal
beauty to romantic numbers like Tu Fiza Hai, Suraj Hua Maddham,
Saathiya and several others. He won Filmfare awards for Best Playback
Singer (male) for most of his hit songs in the early years of 2000. In the
year 2004, Sonu Nigam became a part of history by winning a Best
Male Playback Singer National Award for his heart melting love song
Kal Ho Na Ho.
With so many accolades in his kitty, he continued to prove his talent
with the kind of romantic songs that stay with your forever, like Do Pal
from Veer Zaara, Main Agar Kahoon from the movie Om Shanti Om
and the tear-jerking song from Agneepath, Abhi Mujh Mein Kahin.
Even with so many new singers coming everyday in the Bollywood

industry, Sonu has secured his space as the voice of love songs with
his previous chartbusters. Now with all this, Sonu has went on to
receive a praise which is considered to be one of the highest of all, the
singer turned composer has earned a nomination for the Oscar awards
for his original from the movie Jal with his partner Bickram Ghosh.
